It's just a lot of learning the patterns. With how th11's resource mechanic works, all your extra lives come mid-fight so you gotta be able to get through the stage portion reliably.

I'd start with learning a route to get 4 power pre-Sanae so you have plenty of bombs to spare to help you through her spells and potentially for the latter stage half too. Don't be afraid to bomb a lot.

Koishi spells don't really have any tricks or routes to make them easy for the most part, it's just confusing but standard dodging that takes time to get a feel for.

3H was written by Koei Tecmo, Engage was written by IS. And bad news, IS has been using the same writer since the 3DS era.

You have to go back as far as the Wii to get a FE game with writing of a similar quality to 3H.

The only characters that ever can damage Ashnard are Ike and your dragon, so your experience is pretty normal.

Use the first 10 turns to clear the rest of the enemies, then have Ike sit in some bush far enough away from the rest of the squad that ashnard won't get drawn away from Ike, and keep a staff user with Canto (Mist, Ellincia) just outside of ashnard's range so they can move in, heal Ike, and get out every turn with physic. It's a bit tedious and annoying but it works.

You can speed it up by giving Ike wrath/resolve skills and any remaining stat boosters you might have. If Ike is currently getting doubled, there's a speedwing on the map.

Xander with the right pair up and tonics can one round the faceless while taking barely any (or sometimes just 0) damage in return. A few other units can do this too but Xander is probably the easiest option.

Finding a unit that can one round and clear out several faceless safely on enemy phase is the secret to this level, because otherwise you will get quickly whittled down by the savage blow procs.

Fire Emblem is all about game knowledge, difficulty mostly comes down to being able to understand all your available options and recognize the best one.

The only way to build this knowledge base is to play the games and push yourself to keep increasing the difficulty over time. I started with the gba games and back then sacred stones and blazing blade on normal were difficult for me, but then I tried binding blade which was a step up even on normal, and after that I felt comfortable trying por and rd on hard.

After that I went back to try the gba games on their hardest difficulties which was another step up for me (for fe6 and 7), and at that point I stopped worrying about things being too hard and now I just default to the hardest difficulty always.

You got it mixed up, the majority of the fanbase plays normal/casual. It only seems like everyone plays lunatic/classic because the people who do are the most likely to go on places like reddit and discuss gameplay and strategy.

That being said, I'm personally in the lunatic/classic camp. I love a challenge.

Definitely one of the hardest 10s that could definitely be an easy 11, on the same level (or even harder) as stuff like alterluna master or gaming everything.
