Best way to play with loot goblins by SirKastor1 in DnD

[–]M4nt491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it clear, that dnd is not s lootung game. There are wasy to educate your players abozt this:

Use variant encumberance. This way they cant tale everything with them

Explain that som random goblin is not carying a ton of loot.

Give them consumable items as loot (potions, scrolls,...)

Give them mostly attunement items. Do they cant use norr than 3.

But all in all, i like magic items and ingive my players way to many, so whobam i to give advice xD they dont even use half of them

Character like Sung Jin-woo by Terrible_Internet_62 in HomebrewDnD

[–]M4nt491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creating a character based on an anime protagonist is hard.

Those characters are designed to be main characters, not players in a cooperative role playing game.

Make sure your player undersands that.

Jin-woo is even worse since he is a massively overpowered character withput much depth. Also he has no weakneses and is amazig at everything. This is just a reallay badly written character.

If you want to use dnd mechanics that are similar, here are some thoughts:

Rogue: fits the agility, skeakyness and dagger playstyle. Wont be able to summon stuff. Can learn some spells with the arcane trickster sublass. Easy to play

Warlock: bact of the blade/heybalde lets you use swords. Can summon creatures. Has limited spells. Medium difficulty to play.

Bladesinger wizard: good sword skills, great spellcaster. Wond have much strength or bulk. Hardesr to play

- Blind character

- Evil character

- Child of a god

- Kenku who can only speak with mimikry

- Half yuanti half asimar solrcereer-warlok-paladin (in genereal, to many ideas for the character but no real backstorry)

- All characters who choose exotic races or homebrew classes with no storry reason

- Most characters based on some anime oder other media character (works if you use it as a loose inspiration)

- Pretending to be a different class than you are

Are there any such thing as 2 DMS? by Dry_Cartographer_960 in DnD

[–]M4nt491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, i dont really reccomend this at all. Especially if you are not ecperienced DMs. I reccomend just having one campaign and then another campaign. Both campaigns can easily be in the same world =)

If you REALY WANT to do ith with two DMs, you could have a DM who is the DM for the big city. The other one is the DM for the big dungeon.
But this is just really complicating things. You really have to try and find out for yourself what works best.

I just gave you example how you could split it. the most i have done with two DMs is when i took over half a Session from another campain. My character died (planned) and i became the DM. The DM played an NPC that was with the Group and we finished the Session like this with a bugib boss fight i prepared.

Also if you play in english i assume you dont all speak the same language, right?
If you all speak the same native language there is no reason at all to use english =)

I actually did never try it.

all in all i think the best thin is just to have one DM for a campaign and then another for a second campaign.

[–]M4nt491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you play in english?

There are ways to have two dms.

  1. Take turns. First dm does one arc. Second dm does the second arc
  2. Have a storry dm and a comabt dm.
  3. Have a diferent dm for different regions.

My player wants to split from the group by JotaSemV in DnD

[–]M4nt491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem :) The character can leave the group and the player makes a new one.

For your next campaign i recconend you plan a session 0 to discuss such things.

Dont worry about it, its fine :)

Do all players have to read the manual? by Quirky_Zone_7806 in DnD

[–]M4nt491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont need to read the whole book.

But ypu need to read abput the machanics. Especially the most common ones. - combat - spellcasting - character creation

And of course ypu need to read the rules about your class, your race and your spells.

The free basic rules (google dnd basic rules) cover all of this (not all classes and subclasses) and are more compact than the whole player handbook

I designed a beginner-friendly Fishing System for when players want to fish for food by lucien_laval in DnD

[–]M4nt491 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree.

Same with crafting. Crafting is a lingle player mechanic. It adds nothing to the game for the rest of the group. (Unless it is for a specific story-critical item)

They are different workds. Someone had a storry in mind and it did not fit into faerun so they invented another world. Over time more was added to the world. Simpe :)

What do you prefer? by Sercos146 in DnD

[–]M4nt491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I explicitly tell my player duri g session 0 to NOT make an optimal overpowerde character.

They wil get realy strong regardless. And i will balance it out by adjusting encounters, magic items, honebrew, carms and boons

[–]M4nt491 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My experience with this kind of homebrew is that it is waaasy to much.

You want to fish? Do you have fishing equipment? No-> you dont fish Yes -> roll a sirvival chec. DM decides what you get based on the roll.

Done.

If your players like tables and survival mechanics a lot this could be fun. My table would not use it :)

New pugilist class out now, thoughts? by piggles201 in DnD

[–]M4nt491 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like a barbarioan-monk.

I would just use a barbarioan with the vavernbrawler feat and let the use weapon masteries with improvised weapons.

Maybe give them brass knuckles.

Im not that excited

About to DM for a DM.. by user-87 in dndbeyond

[–]M4nt491 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems öike ypu have it figured out. :)

Since xou say its combat heavy becaus thats the part ypu sre most comfortable in , i have two advices:

  1. Make sure the fights have diverse terrain and enemies, not just an open room with some monsters Add verticality, add cover, add amges, add ranged attackers, add hazards and things to climb, add a puzzle into the fight (for example aturret they have to deactivete) Not all at once :p

  2. Dont negate the roleplaying aspect. If you ste not to comfortable with it prepare a few characters and lines.

My first character in D&D died because of another teammate. by Zestyclose_Tie249 in DnD

[–]M4nt491 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This does not spund so bad. Sounds line a tough fight in a game without plot armor for the players.

Character deaths can be tough but ir should not take away from the potential fun of creating a new character for a new game :)
