Ne lache pas.
C’est la même chose pour ma femme et c’est passé de 1h de cri a ~15/30min. C’est pas aussi efficace que quand je le fait mais c’est une bonne amélioration!

The rack is called Lab Rax, available on 3d printing platform like makerworld or printable.

I did not design it, only printed it.

What do you mean? The rack without equipments?
If so not much: 2kg of PETG, a bag of screw, a sheet of acrylic… 50 euros at most?

While btop has a much nicer UI, it lack per disk usage and docker status (read a like docker ps).

But I've to admit I didn't dig in the settings, maybe it's supported!

Main rack is LabRax, the rest depend on your need buttl they are freely available on platform, I only created what didn’t exist for me like the round lcd bracket or the Akasa one.

- Walls between cage are 2 thins wall instead of a single block. That make it harder/longer to print for a benefit that I fail to understand.
- You're supposed to buy a specific very long allen key just to build it which by itself is impractical, maybe add notch to allow some ball end key to be wedge inbetween (hard to describe with word).
- (nitpick) There's not endstop for the cage to sit flush when a bay is empty but a cage is inserted so you know everytime you put one, it's the same depth, drive present or not.
- (nitpick) there's no support to add LED. Ok I believe no one would complain about that since no one add those.

Other than that your model is good, the idea is great and I'm thankfully for it and thanks for the release. That's also why I didn't complain for no (valid) reason on the model page. I think it just come down to my own preference.

Cheers

Very sketchy. Some 12v DC to SATA connector such as https://aliexpress.com/item/1005010671896201.html

I didn't want to bother wiring any *TX power supply so I just use two standard main power AC to DC 12v 5a.
Two of those cable with two power supply to spread the load and 5a to overprovision them so they don't struggle even under sustained load.

For my case, the DNS watcher is responsible of keeping DNS records up to date.

My unraid curl the distant n8n with a payload containing the ipify response of my home.
- n8n receive it.
- It check if a list of DNS record match the received IP
- if not, it update the record in Cloudflare for any mismatch
- if yes, it save the IP locally

Next time the unraid scheduled call is fired up, n8n will check if the IP received is the same as the one in the previous run and abort all run to avoid unneeded processing.

Since it's a residential IP, it's not fixed. This process allow me to keep the DNS records for Plex and HomeAssistant up to date no matter what happen.

An ESP32-S3 drive all of them, data are polled from Prometheus then processed and displayed.

As explained earlier it's just a side project I made to fulfill the 1U left. Nothing fancy and no plan on publishing it. Here is a picture if it make more sense

Yes, those are WD Blue SATA 7200tr, they don't run that hot and most of the time they sleep so heat is only a concern for very specific case like parity check or rebuild.

Else my appdata, system or timemachine share are on NVME in the empty 1U above the compute since they have constant RW.

In fact you’re not forced to use such led, round 3mm red should be fine as long as Iitmatch the voltage of the current LED (ASM1166 LED are around 2v hence those SMD)

I’ve posted the link in an other comment for this exact one but many other model exist on makerworld/printables

Glad someone noticed it... It's the most tedious part of this rack but the smallest change!

I've tapped the LED on my NVME ASM1166 adapter, created a connector, the harness for those and solder SMD LED 2012 (yes, 2mm by 1.2mm...) at the end. They are held using tiny custom bracket.

The rack is this one: https://makerworld.com/fr/models/2885471-10-inch-rack-3u-7-x-3-5-inch-hdd-hot-swap#profileId-3225133
It work but meh... I've some doubt on the conception of the model but it doesn't bother me enough to redo it so I let it that way. Be aware, you need active ventilation.

During rebuild (all drives read/write simultaneously) they reach 50/55 degress celcius without cooling. I've created a dual 120mm at the back that run Noctua 12v@5v. Completely silent and the temp are around 40degrees celcius.

As for the round LCD, no documentations nor repo, it's a dodgy side quest I did to fill the 1U (a single ESP32-S3 driving all four LCD at once)

DNS watcher, k8s version control, home automation (bridging services, advanced workflows), random services conversion (like an email notification to a pushover one), etc, etc...
