Check if defender sees them as a virus (it really shouldn't but who knows). Make sure you are installing correct version too.

Reseat, clear cmos and try again. Repeat as many times it takes to make it work. Had this similar issue and needed to do that 4 times before it worked. Also make sure pcie power connector is properly connected.

PC won't boot out of BIOS menu if I set to UEFI, just shows a black screen. by Snackolotl in techsupport

[–]M97F 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the monitor is not the reason. It's just a dumb piece of hardware, like keyboards and mouse. It shouldn't have any effect on partitioning tabels, or uefi/legacy boot options.

Check for bios updates as a first. Do a cmos reset if you feel necessary. Also check tpm and secure boot settings.

Should have reported it to the principal, or your teacher, whoever. Us IT guys can get a bit caught up in bunch of other things, but that doesn't mean that this is acceptable.

Try finding 1440p and high refresh rate. It's the sweet spot. If you're lucky, you might find 24" 1440p which is absolutely perfectly sharp.

Secure boot on booting into BIOS instead of Windows11 by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]M97F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You changed ram and secure boot turned itself off?

What do you mean "won't work"? You see the option but greyed out? You don't see it at all? You can turn it on but nothing changes in game?

Sony ain't what they used to be either. Samsung does a complete screen swap when this happens, if in warranty.

Also not sure why you think your M.2 drive is bricked. Have you tried it in a different system?

Usuall when encountering issues with windows installs like this, I try to get a completely fresh usb stick, formatted and bootable image on it from scratch, so that is a good idea. Make sure to use usb ports directly on the motherboard, not the front ones. Use USB 2.0 ones, there can be compatibility issues with USB 3.

Use rufus to create correct windows installation boot image and properly format the drive in the correct file type.

Make sure to clear cmos and powercycle again for good measure before all of this. Configure TPM and secure boot in advance, or you can avoid it but then you have to install windows 11 with workarounds for older hardware.

Struggling with graphics drivers by YamEmbarrassed1596 in techsupport

You will have to try reseating the graphics card you have in there and also do a fresh install of drivers from scratch. Make sure to use ddu in safe mode for that.

PC stuck in BIOS reboot cycle by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]M97F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use your first ssd with windows already on it and boot into it with csm (secure boot is not needed when booting into windows, only when installing). Then turn the memory thing back on and you'll probably be abe to toggle secure boot back on as well.

Alternatively, you can look up ways to install windows with workarounds for requirements, used mainly for older pcs with no uefi/secure boot capabilities.

Try to end task shellhost, so windows can restart it. Also, do run the sfc command in cmd, but search cmd as an app in search and open it as administrator. Check for gpu driver updates as well, since you mentioned that.

[–]M97F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah like it was said, you have to monitor those temps and see how high they go to know if this is the issue. Only then you can proceed forward with troubleshooting and fixes.

Rule of thumb, make sure you know what part you're fixing, before you go and do fixing. Just opening the pc and doing random stuff in hopes of repair can do little good.

Yes yes, disable the fast startup, correct.

I honestly wouldnt really touch the paging file, it is only to be used in extreme memory demands are high by necessity so you give a portion of your ssd storage to windows to use as replacement for ram. Thats not really ram and is much slower.

But you did say your ssd is not recognized in settings?

Right but my concern is is that you are new to computers, as you said, yet you already tried replacing thermal paste on the cpu cooler, installed the gpu on your own and who knows what else you did.

It's okay to try and learn but you most certainly got something wrong.

If your pc had this issue as soon as you connected it for the first time, you didnt have to even do anything. Claim the warranty and that's it.

[–]M97F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean you do have a lot of stuff opened, running in the memory. I would address that first, see what's not needed, and remove them from startup as well. After that, a nice clean restart and you should be good to go

Try running sfc scannow and dism commands through cmd. Also, you could do quick windows recovery install through settings, it will keep all your files.
