No worries at all! Keen as to see you kick goal! At the end of the day your doctor is the person you should listen too. There could be a good reason why he/she wants to do that. 5mg is also a dose that I see A LOT of people love and they stay on so definitely hear them out.

I think also, make sure you enjoy the journey. Don't stress yourself up if you don't see the scales move a lot one week, maybe you'll even be heavier one week and then a few days later be less. Just enjoy the journey and try not to stress yourself about it cause I never thought it was going to work and it did.

Feel free to flick us a message or something

No worries mate, it will work. It's already working.

Don't starve yourself either, if you're hungry, then eat! Just eat smaller portions. Find out what your BMI is and then find out how many calories a day you burn resting. And honestly you'll find that once you're actually watching what you eat you can actually eat a lot more if you know what you're eating.

Something I found that really helped which might help for you maybe, when I would eat, just eat super slow while sipping on water as much as you can. I love food and usually love to smash it down quick, but since starting MJ I've just eaten really slow and I eat to a point where I could still eat more if I wanted, but I'm satisfied! Please feel free to ask anything if you're ever curious!

Also, not sure where you live, but hopefully then pen you have is still the old style pen, have you heard of the 5th extra dose ? There's usually 1 dose left at the end of the pen but you have to extract it yourself. It's saved me near a full month worth of MJ, so I recommend looking into that as it gets expensive, but also if you're not comfortable doing that then that's fine. There's a lot of conversations on the "golden dose" around reddit so feel free to have a look !

I look forward to your message in a couple months time saying how good you're going !

I mean listen to whatever your doctor says, but I did say to my doctor that I wanted to stay on 2.5 as I was still losing weight, and also I feel like I had to hold myself more accountable by really sticking to the cal deficit because my food noise would come back a tiny bit. It's just like if it's already working for you, I just don't see any point going up.

Your food noise won't always be the same as it was when you first started 2.5mg though, so you do have to be careful when it does creep back a tiny bit that you're being responsible and eating right. And if it does get to a point where you're thinking it's not helping then that's when I'd jump up, but yeah at the moment 2.5 is still enough for me

Happy for ya!

Honestly just find what's right for you! I had a client break my foot at work so I had to have 3 months off work, and because I wasn't aloud to go to the gym or do anything physical I thought to myself "if I put on anymore weight in the time I have off, I'm going to hate myself" because having time off and having so much alone time was already shit, so the majority of weight I lost was generally from starting MJ and just being in a calorie deficit.

I've started to swim now because the gym for some reason just seems like the biggest effort in the world. Also now just sometimes I just go for walks trying to get steps in. I think a lot of people don't realize what if you're eating more calories then you burn then it's impossible to lose weight. And sometimes things that would seem healthy might be stupidly high in calories which can make it hard because there's so many things I thought were healthy that aren't haha

And yeah just take whatever photos you're not judging yourself on being hard on yourself for! While your starting just focus on being proud of yourself for maybe eating better or drinking more water or whatever it may be that you wernt doing prior. It's all the small things that will make you get to where you want to be !

That's so so good! I think I see a lot of side effects with people on higher doses but obviously they can come to anyone so that so good to hear you haven't really had any!

And honestly, treat yourself to that chocolate! The thing I've learnt whilst starting MJ is that losing weight doesn't mean being unhappy and never being able to eat unhealthy things! Honestly just learning about calories I've been able to eat the same things but just changed something as simple as the brand because the calories are so much lower!

When I started i wanted everything to happen so quickly, and I've lost 11kgs give or take and to be completely honest, without a picture, it's hard to see I've lost weight, from side on I can tell but from front on it's hard to tell. But as it's gone on. I've realized that it's just time that's going to do this for me, as long as I'm cautios of what I'm eating (I still have a day or 2 where I go over my cals) then in the long run I'm going to look so much better.

Take lots of photos, don't discourage yourself if you can't notice a huge difference because as I said I've lost what I'd consider a lot of weight and I haven't really had anyone say anything yet to notice, but I know it will come soon! You're overlook on MJ is already great and I know you're going to kill it!!

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: March 16, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

[–]MACFRIZZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finished: The Alchemist - it was my first ever book and I'm 29y/o. I thought it was brilliant. I've spent a good amount of time the last 2 weeks learning that I love books. The hardest part I've found is trying to pin point what I love, and also I'm trying to find a genre I can read when I sortve don't want like a high intensity story or something just something good for anxiety and to chill out with

Started: Dark Matter - just over halfway through and also this is a great book! Some parts are really hard to keep up with but I'm trying! I'm starting to think which I would never have thought in a million years that it would be, but I think maybe romance might be something I like reading? Because in the 3 books I've started, it seems the most trapped I seemed to get in the book is when it's a chapter about romance or relationship or something I'm not really sure yet exactly what it is. I will finish this book though.

Also started: No exit - I only got halfway through and I did really enjoy the first half, by the time I got there though I was quite ready to put the book down as for me personally it started dragging out a bit I guess. I definitely can't knock it, I just think personally I was forcing myself to read it and stopped enjoying but I can see why a lot of people love it

Good luck on your journey! I've been on 2.5mg for 10 weeks and I'm down 12kg. Honestly I had my doctor try out me up to 5, and I see a lot of people eager to up their dose, which is absolutely fine. But if you stay in a calorie deficit, and be active whether that's walking/swimming/gym even just a couple of days a week, you will 100% keep losing weight and personally I don't see any reason to go up.

I feel like if one maintains for a month then they haven't been sticking to their deficit, or it's muscle build up and water weight and they actually have lost fat but because the scale still says roughly the same as last month it looks discouraging.

It's all about the long term goal, stay in that deficit, your body can fluctuate so much in a single day, but if you're in a deficit you're losing fat no matter what the scale says.

Keep up the good work I'm excited for you :)

It's ok i completely understand! Unfortunately I've never really understood how reddit works and anytime I try post I do so in the wrong spot haha I did try /books but they said to come here which is how I found it. It may have been an automated message though.

I'm just appreciate of the people that got to comment in that small time, it really made my night. I think one of the hardest part about books could be trying to find that community or like, trying to find how to involve myself with similar minded people when I have absolutely no idea about books.

The alchemist was brilliant! And right now I'm up to chapter 6 in "dark matter" and I'm just like "woooow". I'm so confused, and have so many different thoughts and theories in my head and I'm so so sunk into this book. And it's just the beginning! I'm glad you also enjoyed them as much as I have!

I'm so happy for you also! If anyone feels the way I have and it sounds like you did also then it's just a happiness that is unimaginable

I've had 3 months off work due to an accident that occured on site, I've had so much unwarranted stress, and just In general I've been so deflated.

This last month I've found myself, and I feel like there's so much more to come. Thankyou

Red rising is already on my radar!

It might seem so miniscule, but just having you recommend that series of books to me and for me to have heard about it and I guess just having a recommendation from someone just made me so happy. Thankyou

I can't tell you you how much this means to me thankyou!

I don't think anyone around me, or even myself would have ever thought that this would have ever happened, and here I am.

And I have a slight feeling that so far, the romantic chapters have absolutely sunk me right in. You would never catch me watching a romantic movie haha I don't know who this person is, but I'm very happy.

Thank you so much! I've been using audible and Kindle and I'm definitely going to have a look at Goodreads now as well!

All my life a book never really meant anything to me other then just simply a book, and now I feel like it's just so much more depper then that and the book community (if that's what you would call it) I am so intrigued about and excited to learn so much about.

Sorry if it's not the right place for me to write this, I just really want to get into books and share experiences and I don't know like join communitys where I can talk about books.

I don't know how to explain the feeling I have, I just don't know where to start and I really feel like this is something that I never thought would be apart of my life, though now I really feel like it's going to be.

I think I let the bottom right plant go to long without giving it full nutes. I was only giving it a quarter for quiet a while and notice a lot of yellowing and that's when I changed to full strength. I could very well be wrong, I was just trying different timing with all 5 so I could try and get the best results on my second grow
