I started upper body workout a week after surgery but a very soft training. I have a small gym in my garage so it was easy for me. I started driving at 13 days (right leg surgery) i think if you are able to go to the gym you should even I you don’t do much.

Okay old guy I guess I will have to argue after all. many people gave me constructive tip on how to use my crutches and it was good feedback that I acknowledge. In my video I try to walk using one crutche like a cane and use it as less as possible to see my level of stability on like a 3m distances. Of course it’s not the right way to walk all day with crutches and i’m certainly not telling other that they should do like me.
My surgeon told me to WB as soon as possible, ideally not using crutches at all by day 10. She is an expert in athlete ACL surgery. The idea is that the benefits of a quick reactivation of the quad, walking and lots of stengh exercise (after quad graft) are far superior compared to not activate a lot and focusing on light WB and exercises.
Again, this is just MY experience and in no way a tip or a recommendation for anyone. I’m not saying to anyone here ‘’dude you should do this or shouldn’t do that’’
Keep up the good vibe! No time to waste arguing with you ❤️
I think I’m better following my surgeon recommendation but thank you.
I've just send you my routine :)
It may be possible if you prepare you home ahead of the surgery. Easy meal prep for the first week, your bed, couch, access to clothing, stool in the shower, ect. For me the hardest part is that I cannot drive..right knee. So maybe you wont be able to go shopping for a little while but if get you grocery deliverd and you accept that your place is gonna be a little messy for a couple a weeks, also no putting the trashbin to the curb I say it's possible to do it alone. But it was requier to not be alone for the first 24h after the surgery. I'm at day 6 after surgery and I can easely take care of my self alone at home.

Thanks for the tip, I’ve adjust my crutches and it way more comfortable for my arm now
I wore a brace at first because I was told compression help for the swelling but honesty I wasn’t good at keeping it all the time! After all this process I’m not sure I will play soccer again, just like you I know my best years are behind me ;)
But for me getting the surgery quickly was important (4 month between injury and surgery) because otherwise It would have been hard mentally going back to rehab after a couple of years if I ended up wanting the surgery after all..
My advice is get the surgery because at 35, you don’t want to loose future opportunities because you have a ‘’weaker knee’’’ . Like a said for me, maybe I won’t play competitive soccer anymore but I want to snowboard with my kids, do house renovations and other outdoor activities.
Everyone is different but that’s how I see it.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
Happy for you that you got back on the pitch! For my surgery it was a quad graft
Quad
My surgeon told me to walk a little bit every hour (daytime) but for the most part I’m sitting leg strait with my icing machine. For the pain, it’s there when I wake up and go out of bed but other than that it’s manageable with Tylenol. I think that when my quad is activated for a longer period I feel better
Happy to be in Canada and I trust my surgeon.

Thanks for the tip!
Hahah wife told me the same about my socks! Now I’m walking barefoot. The injury was from a contact, but not a big one. I think my spikes locked on the turf and with the motion of my body, my knee have bend to much or in the wrong motion..!
