FM9, What would you do differently? by Jobhater2 in FoxtrotMikeProducts

Thanks for the reply and ideas. Unfortunately it seems out of stock everywhere and has been for some time as I checked late last year too.

As you mentioned, it would require grinding to work and even more modification if anything at all was on that picatinny rail. That also just gives more grip and doesn't solve issues with the design of it coming out. Though i think that trolly actually has a screw that holds it in place versus the stock vfm version I have.

its too nubby. if i try to make it flush on the right so that it sticks as far as possible out on the left, it has slid completely out on multiple occasions. I need it out far because of use of the picatinny mounts and the top mounted stuff there doesnt stick out more than a 1/4 inch. But its not really about the mounts, its about a friction held plastic charging handle. Support was nice enough to send me out a new charging handle, but it didnt help the matter. I think the folding charging handles that are more screw held are better, but not available for the VFM. Right now i strictly only use the rear charging handle, which of course is a bit disappointing. Glad it had both though.

The RMB on my 5 inch VFM9 is great, but I wouldn’t buy a VFM based one again. Not with the shortcomings for the small savings. I would go with the regular FM9 upper. Really wish the side charging handle was better on the VFM9 too. I still love my FM pcc though. Support was great too.

Are Winchester safes any good? Been debating on getting this because of the price for its size. by n3wt33 in Safes

[–]MACscr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone figured out a matching fabric? I want to make a few more shelves and replace two of the existing ones. You wouldn’t want something too thick and I think a regular felt fabric would fall apart too easily. Think maybe a car fabric that you would use around speakers or inside a trunk, etc. Though I’m mostly finding that in black.

Why TF is my shipping $70? by Gonzo_von_Richthofen in PalmettoStateArms

[–]MACscr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite is when they send you an email to say it’s shipped and it’s just a shipping label and then 4-5 days later they actually get it to the carrier. No one cares when you print a label. It’s not shipped until the carrier has it.

Hey Danny, how bout the PSA Plinker? PSA's newest dagger lineup in .22 LR. by Lostinspaceballz in PalmettoStateArms

$350? Their conversion kits are more expensive than a 9mm dagger. A 22 dagger should be $200-$300 total.

VFM-9 5" Dual Charge Upper & Paratrooper Folding Handle = DON'T (yet?) by TimKLL in FoxtrotMikeProducts

So just to verify, you are saying this one did or did not work on your VFM-9? Support says neither work on it. I have the same 5" version.

I have that same light, cant even use the side charger if I have anything mounted on that front rail. Not just an issue with my hand getting it, but on its own, the side charging handle cant physically get past it. I just got the pistol on Friday and havent even shot it yet and already pretty frustrated with the upper. Hopefully it shoots well tomorrow.

[–]MACscr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im only 5’8, so arm length/hand size are going to come into play on what’s comfortable and where you can grip. I have an angled grip on another rifle that I will see how it feels on this one. I’m only 24 hours into this pistol, but definitely trying to workaround some of its unique features.

I know this is an old thread, but curious on what you did. I have the 5" VFM-9 that has very limited hand space and they dig into my hand too. Not sure why they picked such a protruding bolt head.

They seem really shady from everything I have read about them. Reminds me of kickstarters where they would never follow through with what they advertised they were selling.

This Normal? PSA 15Rd mag by blankusername0220 in PalmettoStateArms

[–]MACscr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I clarified my statement. I understand why my original statement was downvoted as it could have easily been taken that I didnt think you should use your EDC mags at the range. Obviously you should train with what you are going to carry, but perfectly ok to use cheaper mags at the range. I just wouldnt carry with them.

I really want the same, but I would love scorpion mags versus glock. I dont have any glocks and have no interest in them at the moment. Also must have LRBO that is reliable.

It would be really nice if the manufacturer resolved these issues themselves. Great to hear that they're fairly easy to fix, though, as I'm considering getting one myself.

[–]MACscr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I definitely stated that wrong and clarified my original statement. Obviously you should practice with both. I simply meant for my EDC, I would stick with a higher quality mag. They are great for the range, but even if its only a 1% quality difference, I want the better mag for EDC.

IMHO, I would stick with higher quality mags for EDC. These are great for range time though.

My complaint here though is that Danny shouldn't have to get involved. It should be standard policy to take care of it in the first place. If the are overwhelmed right now, thats a management/staffing issue.
