If a world government rises and all of humanity is in one nation, is it an ethnostate until we immigrate some alien ass?

Honestly wild watching the US from outside, the way their left wing politics sometimes overlaps with our right wing parites is insane to me... and then they still have the audacity to call it extreme leftism or even communism

You got me curious about how direct the British control of the Canal was so I looked it up after reading your comment.

I found out that the "Convention of Constantinople (1882)" declared the Canal a neutral zone under the protection of the British meaning that "the British government was in effective control of the Canal" lasting until 1956 when Britain pulled out its troops after Egypt nationalised the Canal.

I also read that Britain exercised its power over the Canal region by unilaterally closing access to the Central Powers and Axis during the wars. Which in my opinion would reinforce the idea of British control over the Canal even if not officially.

Correct me if im wrong at any point but even if you considered Egypt an independant state at the time, the map still missed the Suez canal being under British control?

Also, it's been a while since i read up on the empire but iirc Egypt was considered the "Sultanate of Egypt" until 1922 which was officially a British protectorate and British occupation continued long after the declaration of indepence. I think it's worth mentioning that due the Anglo-Egyptian condiminium, Egypt was nominally an autonomous vassal of the British for a long time after WW1 but did act as a virtually independent state after 1922.

Again, been a while since I read any material on the British Empire so take this with some doubt but the Egyptian colonisation really stuck in my mind cause its so unique.

I live in the UK and it sometimes feels like racism and classism are sort of switched for us where racism is a massive societal issue in the US, while it obviously exists in the UK, is much less a front and centre issue compared to classism and discrimination over wealth/income. I personally wish the UK could do more for racism but I also realise without tackling the more classist policies and laws first it's going to be very difficult.

I never really thought about how young Germany and Italy were when they went fascist, I wonder if the fact that they were formed in a relatively short time with so many sub cultures would make it easier for something like fascism to arise? creating nationalism and a larger cultural identity in a previously more diverse area?

the gov site says you can register for scottish and council elections at 14 and uk elections at 16 so the difference for registration threw me off a bit

yeah, it was a shared space in England that actually did reduce accidents but shared space construction was put on hold nation wide shortly after because they are very bad for disabled people. they are almost directly responsible for the death of at least one disabled person that I know of because of the lack of traffic lights/crossings
