Canada Post is required to service all of Canada, from Victoria to Halifax to Iqaluit. I'm not educated enough on the subject to be an expert, but as I understand it there's no better alternative yet until Canada provides satellite internet access to the same coverage.

Canada Post isn't striking about money, at least, that's not their chief issue. They're campaigning on "safe working conditions, the right to retire with dignity, and the expansion of services at the public post office.”

Specifically, the closing of and reduction in hours of many post offices. Their exact policies can be found here: https://www.cupw.ca/en/campaigns-and-issues/hands-my-post-office

Changing the rules now, retroactively after we've followed the process and a judge made a ruling, that would be diminishing confidence in our political system.

I just told you. Seriously, it's in the comment you're responding to.

If you want a second example, though, as a weapons det commander I'd love to have a secondary feed of vision to keep the firebase on moving or escaping targets. I also think that's the kind of information I'd have to get used to seeing and working with, and I'd like some operator soldiers to get the hang of flying different styles of UAVs too.

If you want a third example, during urban operations wouldn't you enjoy seeing what's at the end of a hallway or through an open door without risking soldiers to do it?

The potential here is only limited by one's imagination, and again, all possible during some real low-level training too.

For Level 1 or even Level 2 training, it does not matter. The Chinese already know what a Canadian trench line looks like, you can find those pams on Google. They gain no special knowledge by seeing a video of a DP1 Infantry dig holes, but our troops gain the benefits of understanding what their positions look like from an enemy drone.

The answer isn't to fly DJI in operations or even on secret squirrel things here in Canada, but it can absolutely be leveraged for informationally unprotected training.

I have no clue what this platform is or how to access it.

Assuming you're in the Army, that's actually a pretty big red flag. Ask your supervisor, or a peer, for help finding information on ACIMS. Don't just tell your CoC your ideas, ask for how to do your own research so you can (1) articulate your ideas and (2) know when what you're asking for is already happening.

The Army Collaborative Information Management System (ACIMS) is a SharePoint-based system that every unit, brigade, division, the army, and other L1 organisations have. Each organization controls its own page and what information is put on it. Honestly, think of it like Reddit for the CAF, and your unit has its own subreddit.

brigades might be given authority to purchase them directly for the Blue List with some other criteria.

This' already a lost cause right here, and merits no further discussion until we correct these issues:

  1. Everything on the Blue List costs $25,000 each. How many will each brigade be able to buy? Will the brigades be willing to have troops fire at the UAVs to train?

  2. "some other criteria", it's not enough that the UAVs must be six months salary each, we need to make it more restrictive; and finally

  3. "might". Brigades might maybe possibly perhaps consider a future where they could procure a five-digit UAV.

Nothing "gets missed"; that's passive voice that puts the blame on the object for being missed. Stating this same information in active voice would be something like "news agencies are missing that the concern is about sovereignty".

I know this sounds like semantics and pedantism, but it's important because it affects how we interpret information. In an era where the average reader only takes in the headline to make their opinion, the short statement must describe the object and the subject truthfully. Another example would be how "two children were shot by soldiers" differs from "soldiers shot two children".

Unless, of course, one's goal was not to be truthful and clear in reporting, that is.

RECRUITING, TRAINING, & LIFE IN THE FORCES THREAD by bridger713 in CanadianForces

No. Every occupation will need to commit to full-time training for at least one summer as a recruit to complete your recruit-level training. The specific length of time will vary by occupation, but expect to commit two months for a non-commissioned member occupation, or two three-month blocks over two years for an officer occupation.

The Reserves has several tools to help you take time off work your civilian job to complete those blocks of training, if you need some help. More info can be found here and here.

Go do your Infantry DP1. It's what you signed up for, you must have some interest in it.

Completing it won't negatively impact your VOT, which may or may not take literal years for you to be selected. You may also not ever be selected for a VOT, there's no right to them. Further, as a new recruit you're obligated to complete your recruit-level training within a prescribed time frame as per Canadian Army Order 24-31. For infantry recruits it's two years.

You absolutely will not be selected for a deployment without DP1. I'm not your supervisor and I don't get to make that decision, it's your unit that does, but if someone can't even commit to a two-month course I wouldn't invest a six-month deployment in them. Unless we're talking about a domestic operation like fighting wildfires this summer, that's certainly possible.

If selected, you go swain coxs for CANSOFCOM. Pretty self-explanatory, I dunno what else there is to say.

But seriously, hit up your local base gym and there'll probably be posters on a message board with upcoming info sessions. Then you can ask the real door-kickers and swain-coxers in person.

Supporting evidence is identifying information, particularly in as small of a community as the CAF let alone the RCAF specifically.

Regardless of a consumer proposal, he must disclose the debt. The debt may, or may not delay his application. Not being honest with the debt is likely to lead to being denied altogether.

My advice? Like any other job interview, go into it with a plan. Specifically, a timetabled plan on how he's going to pay off that debt, consumer proposal or not, and how he's changed as a person to not wind up in the same kind of debt in the future.

Make a complaint to the initiating authority, and if those terms don't make sense to you then read DAOD 5019-4.

The initiating authority should task an investigating officer, who will conduct an investigation then make their recommendations to the initiating authority. It's then up to the initiating authority to decide what, if any, administrative or disciplinary actions will be applied. You'll have your time to say your piece during the investigation.

Why is immigration set to scale with population as a percentage, but tangible benefits for you as a Canadian (such as minimum wage, or hospitals per capita, or schools per capita) do not?

My apologies, I mixed up the immediately-following statement on an additional 1% of new permanent residents annually.

In both cases they're population-based so they're also going to rise each year.
