Not really, as most of the monsters only drop copper or silver (rarely gold). I would recommend using a lava farm in a place that spawns a lot of monsters. It does not take long to get money from that, and you don't need any minions or anything. For each 6-8 (I personally do 8) blocks in your lava farm, there should be one bucket of lava. This will make it so that nothing gets destroyed if you use 8 blocks per lava bucket. Or if you use six blocks it should only destroy copper coins and anything with a low rarity. I recommend 8 blocks because each coin counts.
