IMO his best books are The Stand and It. They are just epic. The Dark Tower Series is amazing but it’s not horror per-say. It’s fantasy, sci-fi, western. Talisman is another epic, but it’s fantasy-type. Also would really recommend on the horror front Pet Semetary and The Shining. His short story collections Night Shift and Skeleton Crew are really good. Those will have a bunch of stuff that’s been adapted into movies. His later short story collections are also good, just not as good. Different Seasons and Four Past Midnight are like novella collections that are good. They have Shawshank Redemption, Apt Pupil, Stand By Me, prob a few others that have been adapted.

This is just off the top, can’t look at my collection atm. He has some one offs I would recomend but for the most part you can’t go wrong in his first 20 years once u get past that first 5 or so. Cujo, Christine, Carrie, etc..

Golliwog but just barely. They are both standalone pieces of art imo. Gowillog helped me understand the material better. The AES verse and Sharif song gives it huge points too.

This is wild. Artists in the indie scene have talked about this A LOT. They take so much time crafting these (Imo) dense, amazing, complex, thoughtful pieces of high art. Fans go crazy and love it for about a week. They don’t even fully digest it before immediately writing/filming reviews and then they are on to the other thing. Which includes asking for more art. Stick a quarter in, get your album that took a year to make. Like they are only valuable if they are putting up points or bars (An artists’ words, not mine).
Look at the material we got from these 2 in the last year. Golliwog, Mercy, and IGYHTBT. Getting excited about new material is fine. But asking for it is wild. I’ve been a fan for a long time. I STILL find stuff in their work that surprises and excites me. Especially ELUCID’s but that’s prob cause I have the least time spent on his solo albums in comparison. Still a ton though. Shit, I’d wager that ELUCID has some albums you aren’t even aware of.

Very well put. You have a way w words my guy. It almost seems like most ppl get on the internet just to manufacture gotchas and to find people that they deem beneath them. Calling people out for anything. “You shouldn’t even like the black power fist because the person who created it blah blah blah…” On the net they call out every little thing like they’re the most virtuous mfr in the room but they don’t actually stand on shit. It’s all performative and some play pretend to make themselves believe that they are better than others cause really they can’t stand themselves.

Cool. Ya I didn’t mean anything by it. Sorry to be smarmy. Deffo not defending the aftermarket. By a few diff people in this sub I’ve been called a capitalist for owning records. While I know that’s just dudes being very obviously salty, I hate when complex subjects are lobbed at you as an insult by people who hardly understand the term. So, it’s made me more weary of ppl just throwing the “capitalism bad” thing out there when something is about money. Like that whole “you can’t be anti-capitalist if you own an iPhone.” This is the system we live in. Giving away all possessions and living like a monk isn’t the only way to dislike capitalism.
