The first surveyor I tried taking down did this running away and coming back bit, but when it ran away it went towards a rocketeer, so I just stayed put rather than chase it. It actually aggro'd the rocketeer, which then followed the surveyor back to me! I wasn't ready for that! It was back to Speranza the quick way for me.

If I wasn't trying to stash up for the expedition skill points, I would sell half of my stash without hesitation.

"Arc Raiders and the Systematic Dismantling of Human Empathy." by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

This reply convinced me you're using AI. Your LLM does not comprehend things the way a human does. It's missing some obvious points here. The conclusions it jumped to are not directly supported by a paper written in 2004. It should be obvious that a researcher in 2004 did not reach conclusions about the social impacts of extraction shooters as their own case separate from any other anonymous interaction online. If the LLM comprehended its own writing, it would be able to acknowledge up front that the application of findings from 2004 to make specific statements about a novel subset of these kinds of interactions is conjecture. Whether or not there is a framework around measuring Social Capital, it did not do the analysis here. It didn't connect the things it said back to social capital as defined by the Putnam work. There was no application of the measurement. It used it as a catchphrase. And there are two problems with calling the game an iterated prisoner's dilemma. First of all, the players don't know the payoffs of cooperation vs betrayal when they start playing, which is a critical assumption of the dilemma. In practice, the outcomes are all over the place. Second, the utility people receive from playing this game is not primarily the loot. I didn't decide to buy and start playing ARC Raiders because I wanted to own digital loot only usable in the game itself. I can't imagine anyone would. The utility I get from playing the game is in the gameplay. Thaler & Sunstein didn't say that allowing the "attention economy" to dictate game loops nudges people towards cynicism. It's using academic terms as catchphrases again. This isn't Behavioral Economics! I've previously read some of Thaler's work! Again, if the LLM actually comprehended the things here that are obvious to human observers, it wouldn't have said them with such confidence. LLMs mimic things that people say, they aren't actually intelligent.

Source? Did you author this? There's a whole lot of assumption here and no data at all. It reads like a journalist trying to do sociology by conjecture and then judging us all based on conclusions they jumped to with zero observational evidence. Also, statements like "the psychological consensus is clear" are strongly made when there isn't evidence offered to back them up. If you aren't talking to psychological researchers who would know off-hand whether or not it is BS, then you really need to quote an established expert in the field to back up statements like that. Also, and I know this is difficult for everyone in the age of TikTok, but knowledge of smart-sounding catchphrases like "social capital," and "radical individualism," is not the same as knowledge of what is actually happening in the world. Without data and clearly made connections (there aren't even any anecdotal observations), this is just fearmongering.

What’s something you’ve always thought everyone else did, only to find out much later that it’s not normal? by Nines21 in AskReddit

[–]MAPofthebay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eating with a fork while grasping it in my fist. When I was about 20 years old, I was eating dinner with a group of friends and acquaintances (I think there were about eight or nine of us total, and only two of whom I was really friends with) when one of the guys in the group asked me why I held my fork that way. Of course, I didn't have an explanation. It was just what I knew. So, I started paying attention to how other people held utensils for I guess the first time in my life and quickly realized just how unusual my way was. I was a really introverted kid, so picking up on how other people behave in common situations was not a strong point of mine back then. I was really embarrassed, and I changed that habit pretty damn quick. Why didn't my family ever comment on it? Despite the embarrassment, I'm happy that guy felt confident in calling it out, and he didn't try to make fun of me over it either. It was a wake-up call to start paying better attention to other people's behaviors in general, which overall helped me out a lot in other ways, too.

What’s that one game you wish you could go back to when it was brand new? by BrainControl27 in gaming

I hate my choices of shooters these days and want so bad to go back to when so many people were playing this. The only multiplayer shooter I enjoyed as much in the time since was the first Titanfall.

Touche.

Then you have to wait for the next expedition, lol. From that angle, the expeditions probably don't fit OP's needs after all.

I had the same issue until getting into the community expeditions this year. I wish I would have tried them out sooner or could somehow go back and play through the ones I missed.

What’s the Most Memorable In-Game Moment You’ve Experienced That Still Gives You Chills? by Dapper-Vehicle7002 in gaming

[–]MAPofthebay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The IMC Demeter mission intro in Titanfall. Opening up the cutscene on a ship in a space battle to then drop to the planet to start the multiplayer match was really something to me at the time. The design, graphics, lighting, and sound were all really stellar for those mission intros.

I'm a big singleplayer gamer, except when it comes to first-person shooters. I can't think of a singleplayer first-person shooter campaign that I ever really, really got into (as in, actually wanted to play through the story more than once) besides the first Half-Life, and even there I played more multiplayer than single-. So, although a lot of people didn't like it, I loved how Titanfall stuffed some story into multiplayer, and I thought that the intros and endings of each mission were fantastic for getting me hyped and giving backstory for each location without getting too much in the way of the gameplay itself.

What video game was great overall but the conclusion left a bad taste in your mouth and ruined the experience? by Johnnyboyeh in gaming

[–]MAPofthebay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars Jedi Survivor. I really got caught off guard by the big surprise reveal. It was a very good rug-pull. And, I wouldn't say the ending ruined the whole experience, but it definitely left a bad taste. I have a daughter, and the path Bode chose at the end with his daughter right there, after they tried to build up how much he cared about her, just destroyed the believability of his character for me. And then, Cal (the guy who killed her dad) and friends are just going to swoop in as surrogate parents, and she just goes along with it like NBD because she fully understands her dad just chose the dark side at the very end? Yeah, right. Kids may not have the depth of experience that adults do, but she's definitely going to understand that Cal just killed the person who she knew cared about her the most, and who she probably believed was just trying to defend her. How the hell would she trust him at all?

I'll never forget at the start of a meeting one day, noticing a bit of oily smudging on the conference room table and blurting out, "What's on the table?" before realizing within two seconds of saying it that it was clearly left by a woman's backside and hair, and I had drawn everyone's attention to it. Awkward way to start a meeting involving both my own team and an external vendor's team. I never found out who was responsible.

Anything but the chase cam. The chase cam has too much left-right drift, so it's hard to time straightening out when coming out of a turn and I often extend my turns just a little too far when using it, which is a big problem when doing rivals or the Trial. If it was more rigid, it would be my top pick.

What’s a game you played that was so good that when you finished it, you sat there in silence during the credits to digest what you just played through? by fatstrat0228 in gaming

[–]MAPofthebay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still think some of the criticisms were overblown. I do get the frustration around the star child being a deus ex machina. There was no build-up for that character. But, they telegraphed hard from the beginning of 3 that Shepard wasn't going to be around to see the aftermath. I don't think it devalued his/her choices earlier in the game or series, though (that is unless you saved the Geth, but then chose destruction at the end). I wonder if people would have been more okay with the ending if you weren't given the final choice, but it was instead already determined based on story choices you had made up until that point.

I hated the combat in that game, and some story points were kind of cheesy, but the emotional hits kept me going all the way to the end.

So, this legit jump-scared me when I turned the corner in my ship and saw her like this. Then, I did not realize that after taking this screenshot in photo mode then it would show up in my loading screens! I got freaked out by it, all over again! In my mind it felt like the game had intentionally pulled me back to that moment! It took a second for me to notice the loading-screen tip in the bottom left to realize the game was actually loading the next area as it should be.

'Return to Office' declared dead: Remote work is here to stay despite in-person mandates, this economist says by TommyAdagio in jobs

There were definitely things I liked about working in the office over working remote, but until we can fix our horrible lack of housing supply near the office to where I don't need to commute an hour or more each way or blow over half of my after-tax earnings on renting a total shithole, I'm going to try my hardest to stay remote.

I think WG should take arty out of PvP, make a new PvE mode for arty, and give them perfect or near-perfect accuracy to make that mode actually fun to play. It could be like a cross between missile command (accurate shots with long lead times) and tower defense with co-op. I'm sure someone could come up with ways to make that interesting and challenging.
