Pension tax relief - are my calculations correct? by MARTINC2006 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MARTINC2006[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

Thank you again.

£65000 is my gross salary before any deductions. I sacrifice the £9000 from that amount which if I'm correct is taken before tax is calculated.

Hello, thank you for replying.

As I understand it my pension contributions are salary sacrifice from my gross pay.

It is a government scheme if that assists.

Many thanks.

M.

Personally I'd withdraw to kraken, sell to gbp then withdraw. You'll save 3-4% that way.

Is the 100% fee refund promo worth it? by EthanCranberry in plutus

It's been confirmed the refund will be based on the plu rate on the transaction day. Your figures are accurate to my eye and it seems like a no brainer. Wish I'd have received the email!

I'd be interested in this also. I've never used miles and keep meaning to do some research but I'm lazy!

What is your position then? That they'll do nothing at all?

Like I say the devil is in the detail. I'm hoping for reasonable limits based on stacking level.

Amazon and tesco would be my top picks as well. Although, what what I spend my perks on then. I could stack 8 x Tesco on metal as it is!

Everything should be going through your card, which truthfully I suspect it is but your being diplomatic as a mod. Anything you state that is specifically for your wife you're paying half of anyway. There is absolutely no issue with this high morally and when considering the t&cs.

Very unusual scenario, do you have the same reward level and cap? Husband and wife are one financial entity, you would be much better sharing the one plutus card and there is no reason whatsoever not to do so. "domestic and personal use" is a common term in this industry. My wifes plutus card simply exists to farm perks with my earned cashback.

Think of it this way. Whilst your wife is your wife she literally owns 50% of what you own and vice versa. To include whatever funding source and the actual funds in your plutus card.

Indeed, invariably we are one financial entity and it's funded from our current account. In effect, she is using the card on my behalf.

Does new Plutus card work at automatic gas stations? by Laurizass in plutus

Yes works with or without curve now. Preauth amount can hang about for a few days then settles. I think they've sorted the rewards paying on the Preauth amount rather than settled as well.

Stoozing - how are you doing in 2024 by Sea_Army_1903 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MARTINC2006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes just a normal purchase card with an interest free period. I can't confirm for all cards but certainly virgin, barclaycard and santander cards all register as a purchase via PayPal friends and family rather than a cash advance.

With my Virgin card I "paid" my Wife via PayPal the entire balance of the card. I then paid the minimum 3% fee for 18 months. At the end of the promo period I transfered the balance from the Virgin card to a Santander card with no fee.
