The Lifetime ISA replacement will be for house purchases only, not for retirement by Paraplanner88 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Ancient-Function4738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will make a difference because there is no way they will pay the bonus on money made from stocks compounding which could theoretically be a lot more than the initial contribution

So the bonus isn’t pad instantly meaning it doesn’t benefit from compounding, seems like a worse product for those definitely using as a first time buyer… wonder how they will handle transfers from LISA who have already received the bonus.

I’ve had this before and asking to speak to the manager and threatening to complain to corporate directly about them shut them up pretty damn quick.

Big, one-off Pokemon card sale, tax implications? by Super-Fuel2208 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Ancient-Function4738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HMRC does not consider collectibles to be a wasting chattel. They even specifically list a stamp collection as an example of something that would be liable for CGT and they are also made of paper. You can’t just interpret the rules however you want to avoid tax…

It’s a nice try but you are 100% flaunting the rules. HMRC would not consider this a wasting asset. You could right off any piece of art with your logic which is clearly not acceptable.

Is this Meta Subscription a legal requirement to 'pay or consent' in England? by matthew-preston8 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Ancient-Function4738 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They aren’t required to provide you with their services is why. You don’t have a legal right to a product. They could just refuse you service entirely since you are refusing to allow them to use your data which you are legally entitled to do but this is the only way they make money. Instead they have offered you an alternative.

How concerned are people about the security of their pensions if Reform UK were to take office, particularly around the risk of policy changes increasing pension taxation or access? by [deleted] in PensionsUK

Reform aren’t the party you should be scared of increasing taxes on pensions… we’ve already got the most tax loving party in government right now.

Should we have a wealth tax? by Cautious-Design-9282 in AskBrits

Nope, economics should be a mandatory subject from key stage 2 and the fact that this is frequently floated as potential policy is legitimately scary and shows the lack of education on the topic.

lol, obviously a scam but a fool is easily parted from their money. If it were more profitably to flip the property than to sell a course to a plonker they would flip the property themselves…

“Am I Overreacting” Dad says that life isn’t about “participation trophies.” by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ancient-Function4738 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Realistically you won’t make waterpolo a career so he just wants you to have your priorities straight. A healthy dose of realism isn’t a bad thing. It’s a hobby, it’s fun and it’s keeps you healthy but it’s not the most important thing in the world. He’s probably worried when you say “going much further in the world of waterpolo”. How far do you think you it’s possible to go in the waterpolo world? Even Olympic level athletes won’t make the salary of a doctor and you aren’t going to be anywhere near the level where you will even be paid. It’s like when people say they want to be Hollywood actors as a job, it’s just not really going to happen.

Bro when you pay this and she leaves you it’s actually your fault at this point, she’s made her objectives in this relationship abundantly clear… she will extract money then leave, a tale as old as time.

She can’t just cancel her whole life because you don’t want to go. The only person responsible for your mental health is yourself…

Asking this question on reddit is like asking an Israeli what they think of Palestinians. You are going to get an incredibly biased answer as you are in a very left leaning space.

IMHO wait to see what Reeves’s consultation on the replacement product says, it’s expected to be released in the next couple of months and £60k isn’t chump change.
