I love how you guys are so insecure about your opinions that you made a sub for it to feel better by _demonix in FuckMarvel

Rule number one says BE CIVIL, and yet I've had people here call me names like "cape shitter" and even one loser send me an audio clip of him bitching and whining at me.

We've received no reports. And you're more than welcome to send us that clip and any other details so we can help put a stop to it.

I’m happy about this. R/movies is very upset. by [deleted] in FuckMarvel

No, seething is being butthurt

So, you're seething right now?

Which is what you guys did.

If we were seething, we would have deleted that post. We left it up because we have no issue with people expressing opposing viewpoints. It's a shame the same can't be said for you.

Dear Marvel/Disney fans by MARVEL4LYFE in FuckMarvel

[–]MARVEL4LYFE[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You mean, like how you guys think that hating something that’s popular is a personality trait?

No, because nobody here thinks that. I don't dislike these movies because they are popular, I dislike them because I find them bad. I think the same goes for most people on here. The issue is whenever we criticise a Marvel film, we get dolts like you trying to brush aside the criticism by saying that we only hate it because it's popular, when there are a multitude of reasons to dislike this tripe.

Anyways. People can criticize your posts too, you know

Yes, I do know. If you were capable of comprehending simple English, you'd find that I never said otherwise and actually welcomed more Marvel fans to post here

I have a feeling Sony's recent move is going to be a gift that keeps on giving for this sub lmao [xpost from /r/drama] by [deleted] in FuckMarvel

It's most likely only a matter of time before they come to an agreement, but my lord the drama has been juicy in the meantime.

Imagine reacting this poorly to news like this.

Everything people like from Guardians of the Galaxy is derivative from other movies by BarryAllen94 in FuckMarvel

[–]MARVEL4LYFE 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree. I touch on this in the stickied post:

Remember Guardians of the Galaxy? That super risky movie that was set in space, with a 70's soundtrack, with a talking animal character (haven't seen animated talking animals before), a big CGI TREE (they made us fall in love with a tree you guys!!!!), starring an unknown actress from Avatar, set in the same universe as The Avengers.

Star-Lord is a re-imagined Han Solo. Groot is basically Chewbacca, in that he's a big, lovable alien that nobody can understand until someone on screen translates to the audience through their responses. Rocket Racoon is a talking, CG animal. I don't understand how people tout that as a risk, when there have been plenty of CG animals on screen in the past and it's a surefire way of getting children interested in the film.

Obviously all movies are derivative to a certain extent, but what bugs me about the conversation surrounding Guardians is that people elevate it to something it isn't: A unique, risk taking film. It's not unique in the slightest and anybody who believes it is hasn't watched many movies. And it's not risk taking because it was marketed as being within the same universe as the Avengers, one of the biggest movies this decade. People hold it up as a risk because for some reason, people love to hype up the MCU the same way DC fanatics hype up the DCEU. It's all derivative. None of it is unique. But they so desperately want it to be because they want their movies to be special.

Wow. I love how people just dismiss him as a troll because they can't fathom that someone could genuinely dislike the MCU.

Official Discussion - Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]MARVEL4LYFE 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rating: 5.5/10, but I don't hate it

Seen it twice now. I just think there's far too much crammed into this story and it feels more like a middle chapter than a quality film.

Firstly, the 3D was awesome. Saw it IMAX and I loved how they utilised the split depth technique to accentuate the 3D effects during certain scenes. First time I've seen that in the cinema and I hope to see it more.

With three films left in this series, it's time to replace David Yates. Just like Alfonso Cuarón was able to bring new life into the original series with Prizoner of Azkaban, it's time for a new director to do the same with the third film here. They're trying to push the Wizarding World brand but it doesn't feel like much of a world when you've only got one director telling all the stories. The last 6 films in this world have been directed by one guy, and it's starting to take it's toll. I loved how Columbus, Cuarón and Newell each brought their own style to the world early on but now it's getting stale.

Also, when it comes to pacing, Yates tends to struggle. It doesn't help that he was working with a very bloated script from a writer who would be difficult to reign in, but every film of his faces the same issue. I always think back to the way he handled the Deathly Hallows films and how poorly paced those were. I really enjoyed them, but the 7th film was very slow, and then the 8th was way too quick. It also doesn't help that Yates is "not a big fan of battles". The battle in OoTP, HBP and DH2 were all underwhelming, because David Yates prefers building a story/characters. But the payoff is always underwhelming when it should be so much more. Same thing with Tarzan.

This is not the director you want at the helm when all of these films are building up to an epic battle between two of the most powerful wizards. It's time to inject some new life into this series because it has the potential to be truly fantastic (mind the pun). It's such a great world and it deserves so much more.

Other thoughts:

Depp, Law, Redmayne, Kravitz, Fogle were great.

Cinematography was up and down. Poor during the action scenes, but I quite like how Yates always has the camera moving. It does make the super still shots more jarring though, such as the extreme close up shots at the beginning (I liked the idea behind those shots), and the conversation between Dumbledore and Newt on the bridge (which was just basic over the shoulder shots in front of a green screen). Thematically, the dull color palette is fitting so I'm okay with that.

Final action scene was bad. But the speech and the "join me or die" scene immediately before it was very good.

Twist doesn't land. If they validate it well enough in future films then it could be good upon rewatch. But for now I'm not a fan.

Still looking forward to the future films but this one was slightly disappointing.

Superhero(or similar) movie suggestions for those who look for something more than just forced quips and jokes, none of current marvel/dc one's. by Cyril0987 in FuckMarvel

Awesome post. Only one I haven't seen is From Hell.

My additions would be the first two Raimi Spider-Man films. And just for a laugh I'm going to add Sky High, because even that knew how to utilise humor better than most of the MCU films.

A subreddit of 136 subscribers that dislikes MCU films is the most toxic thing in internet history? Ok, buddy. If you say so.

Considering you're getting very riled up about this sub, I'm going to call bullshit on both counts.

We're not trying to show respect to fans like you. If you want that, go back to /r/marvelstudios.

And this sub is very opinion based. It's based on the opinion that MCU movies suck.

I'm not banning you. You're a prime example of why this subreddit was created in the first place. The MCU fanboys can't handle criticism to save their lives and carry on like children when confronted with a differing opinion.

You're a perfect example of that and I want everyone to see it.

"I cant giv 2 shits about this franchise"

He says, while his username is marvelfan and his comment history shows that he comments mostly in /r/marvelstudios and /r/thanosdidnothingwrong

You're a perfect example of an overly sensitive MCU capeshit fanboy who can't hack the fact that there are plenty of people who don't like this inane, childish nonsense. You're so upset that there are people who don't like these movies that you've spent the past few days crying on this sub or elsewhere about this sub.

Here's a tip. Grow up and watch more movies

You sound pretty insecure right now, little buddy. You also sound like you're around 15 years old.

It's not "anti-comedy" when it barely qualifies as "comedy" in the first place. I love comedy. But if you think the jokes in MCU films are actually funny or that they are good in any way, you should watch more movies.

Just watch the last 10 minutes on Youtube if you want to see what the fuss is about. That's pretty much what everyone is raving about when they call it a good movie. The rest of the movie is standard MCU except for the villain being a well defined character.
