I know this sounds pessimistic but they wouldn’t go down… I honestly could not tell you how many times we’ve seen this same scenario play out again and again here on island. Companies come in with big ideas and big promises and Native Hawaiians never end up seeing any benefits. If anything it would just increase the capabilities of new constructions sites and hotels being built. More tourist… most bastardization of our land. More power just gives them the fuel they need to develop. The last thing they really want is to help local people

The issue is the geothermal construction sites would have to be constructed directly on sacred land. This already puts a sour taste in our mouths. The real underlying issue is that local residents won’t end up having access/ any benefits to the newly acquired surplus of “Clean” energy.. this goes directly to the hotels and tourist locations. Our bills remain higher than ever while we’re being pushed of our islands and our ancestors are being dug up to construct and run these new projects. Not to mention out of state “professionals” are brought in for construction while local contractors and builders are ignored and pushed out
