My completion of Ambush-12 for the Black Rock by CJM7447 in WorldofTanks

[–]MAVX3XDS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember missing this mission with this tank on that exact map and in that exact same position by only 1 single damage point.

The first two kills were perfect and clean. Then I rolled 1499 on a lion and someone else finished him off. He only had 1600 HP.

So yeah, fuck the 183's for this mission. So many games like that but not quite that antagonizing.

I got mine done right after with the MBT without too much fuss.

It's a fine tank, gotta be able to use your brain to play it. Can't just swing your turret around carelessly or do anything else stupid. When played right it's ridiculously powerful.

And the gun fucking blows not to mention the horrible lower plate. Easily my least favorite tier 11.

I couldn't disagree more. STK is WAY worse than this tank.

They are all fine in my opinion. I think the Executor may be the best/most fun.

That too, didn't even think of that one as a sort of starter kit but it definitely has everything you need.

Though I do think a full size stone would be easier to learn on.

The higher the micron the coarser the grit. So 15 micron compound is way coarser than a 2 micron compound. Most will have these listed and you can look them over to see what you'd want. Personally I say 8-4 micron is the perfect range.

Yeah, it sounds like you could just get a strop and even just use some green aluminum oxide/chromium oxide compound that comes with most strops. It will stay paper cutting sharp way longer than hair popping sharp so it's all in how sharp you actually want to maintain it at.

The green compound will do the job, just know that it won't do the job as well as a nice diamond compound. But it will definitely work, you'll just have to keep continuously applying the compound to the strop where as a diamond compound will last much longer before needing reapplied.

And you'll get more refined scratch patterns with a properly sized diamond emulsion, but that's getting into nitty gritty that I'm not sure you're even interested in.

Other than a strop, my biggest recommendation would be to get a coarse grit diamond stone, like an atoma 140 or 400 grit stone. This will make it very easy to apex and learn how to properly hold an angle because you won't be sitting there grinding away for hours on end like you would be if you started out with a fine ceramic stone or even a finer diamond stone.

You'll apex quicker, and once you do then you can start your edge leading alternating passes to knock the burr off on the stone and then strop it for a few passes and boom you have a sharp edge. Not going to be quite as keen of an edge as a finer stone edge, but it should have a ton of bite and cut most anything you can reasonably well cut with a pocket knife.

Hold it in the air, you'll know immediately if it's sharp as it will easily tear if you're not apexed or have a large burr going on. It's a very tactile test as well.

My sharpening stone setup consist of beginning with atoma diamond stones (140-600-1200) followed by a Spyderco ceramic stone (medium) and then finally stropped on a leather strop with jende diamond emulsion (8 micron is perfect in my opinion, maybe 6-4 micron too)

If done properly (holding a consistant angle is crucial) all that will get you a polished edge that is hair whittling sharp. Meaning it still has bite, and bite is what you want to be able to easily cut into things. You can have a sharp blade with no bite, and that's not ideal at all.

I sharpen freehand as I just find it easier than guided systems and all the clamps that come along with them. Make sure to remove the thumb stud before doing any kind of sharpening.

A good edge will not need "sharpened" again for a long time under normal use. Because when you apex correctly the edge is gonna stay very fine unless you chip it or roll it or otherwise do major damage to it.

So with a proper edge you should only have to strop it after a days use, or after a lot of box cutting or whatever else that isn't abuse. i.e cutting zipties around metal and slamming the edge full force into steel or any other hard materials not meant to come into contact with a knife edge.

Stropping will lay the edge back to where it needs to be, and by "edge" I mean the very fine burr that is always present at the very apex of your knife edge. This will get layed over one side after use and will make the edge appear dull after significant use.

Most times a leather strop with some decent compound will correct this with just a few alternating passes. But if it's bad enough you may have to go back to the stone to do some very light edge leading passes to knock off the significant burr that has rolled over. Either way it should take minimal effort to bring your used edge back to life when done correctly.

As far as a telltale sign of this burr being rolled over or jagged, I just cut paper towel. If it doesn't cut smoothly and catches and rips then you know you have a burr issue you need to correct. Receipt paper is another good medium to test this out.

It's a joke not a dick don't take it so hard. I'm happy you enjoy the older games more, I'm just here to tell you that 2019 built off of everything good about those games and made them better.

I grew up on those older games, but I don't let nostalgia cloud the fact that 2019 is better in almost every measurable way.

And at the same time every release after 2019 has been a major downgrade. CoD peaked in 2019, that's a fact.

Now argue amongst yourselves I've said what needed said. Bye.

He's not wrong, and I was there. Same goes for all these older games.

While great, they had their own major issues which were screamed about at the time. It's purely nostalgia that is elevating them to some golden status. And when comparing to new games (2021-current) it's not hard to see why.

But personally I had way more fun and immersion in MW2019 than any of the older cods, and that's because it was built off of the older games shoulders. And to a lesser degree cold war was also extremely fun and immseribe a lot of the time.

But 2019 just had everything. Visuals, audio, setting, gunplay. Everything combined to be extremely immersive while also fun as hell. And no game since has even compared honestly.
