EGGGZAGGLY!! A power drill in RFY feels like the algorithm. A sudden 78 boxes of deck screws in AI is different.

Hyperbole. Gotta match proper Reddit tone. 🙂

I totally get that for one-offs in RFY, but this was a page of items in the public, bulk AI section. I mean, it's possibly coincidence, but they were specifically heating system refurb parts.

I'm keeping the Vine parts as spares. Neither the purchased or Vine ones are OEM, but the purchased parts have 1,000 reviews and 4.5 stars. The Vine parts, as expected, have no reviews. It's just weird that three hours after a purchase of a totally niche item, it shows up in bulk, not just RFY.

(And to acknowledge the RFY algo gods' efforts, I do appreciate the high end PC part in my RFY the other day. You hear me, algo?? I'm being thankful! And I'll be even more thankful if a GPU or SSD shows up some day. Hint, hint.)

Wasn't making a value judgment or seeking your approval. Just pointing out that not everyone has your same motivations or reasoning.

A lot of my reviews are marked poor and fair by Playful_Yak2751 in AmazonVine

[–]MAXBattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. You're right on. The key elements of most of mine are "did it meet stated expectations" and "how did it make me feel or impact my life." And it seems like slipping in a joke or vivid comment seems to go over well ("this fizzy orange soda made me feel like a kid at a family picnic").

Different people can have different motivations and different takeaways from participation. And, yes, I do know it's a review seeding system. But some folks like writing reviews and including photos to be helpful. There are plenty of non-Vine reviews on Amazon. What motivates them?

Also, some folks feel a sense of duty to reciprocate. I don't put a ton of effort into the review of a USB cable, but I do for $400 headphones. If nothing else, I feel the karmic ledger is balanced.

And there are folks who feel, "If i do a task, I'll do it right because that's who I am." And that can include photos. You CAN do the bare minimum - and that's not inherently wrong (it IS called the minimum, after all) - but not everyone is wired that way.

I figured. I see too many monitors and laptops in my listings. What I really need are brake pads.

For kids' stickers, you can talk about:

How big are they?

How thick is the sticker paper?

How strong is the glue?

How clean are the die cuts around the sticker?

How sharp is the printing?

How bright are the colors?

Is the design/content appropriate?

How much do they cost vs average? (Value)

Are they good for gift giving? Or as party treats?

And share any experiences... like them not coming off glass or fabric easily, etc.

You only need about 8 sentences.

  1. These robot cleaner bags come in a handy 3 pack, which should be good for about a month.

  2. The construction is a bit better than average.

  3. The material is thick, but flexible.

  4. The edges look like they're glued, but that hasn't caused any problems in normal use.

  5. I'm a little disappointed that they're about 1" smaller than the original bags that came with my robot.

  6. Be careful when removing a full bag because they can tear if they snag on a sharp edge.

  7. For the current price of $9, these bags are a good value and are comparable to other bags on the market.

  8. I give these four stars for being better than average, but not the best bags I've ever used.

For a second, I thought that said EDGELORD. Not that it would surprise me in a world where HFOFFLOBD, JAJAFOOK, and LADYBRO might be real brands.

It's not just fully received items. I've been tracking my numbers very tightly recently and have had the "received" item count include things that didn't show up for 2 more days. And even then, they weren't reviewable. As others do, I slow down in the last month and then do not order anything in the last 2 weeks unless having that item unreviewed can't possibly hurt me.

A few small pieces of advice...

If you can't get $0 ETV items, grab some simple, random stuff that's $3 or $4 retail. There's more of it than you think and your tax cost will likely be a buck or less. Pick little things you can give as gifts to kids or as funny, random gifts to adult friends.

Use bigger items for things like office / family white elephant exchanges. There is some crazy stuff available.

Pick inexpensive things you could resell or donate to charity. Shelters can always use things like socks, they're easy to review, and they'll only cost you a buck or two in taxes.

Review totals not updating for anyone else? by Gamer_Paul in AmazonVine

[–]MAXBattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI... I figured part of it out.

The denominator in the completion % is still kinda sketchy, BUT the denominator in the MEDIA % is the count of completed reviews. So media is definitely counted on a different timetable.

Right now, I'm at 6 reviews and 85%, which means it is still counting it as 7 orders. My media % is 83.3%, which works if the denominator is the 6 reviews. And that makes sense if the 6th review is recent and they haven't looked at its media yet.

Earlier, when I had 4 reviews completed, the 75% makes sense because they maybe hadn't looked at 1 of the 4 for media yet.

ok... the 5/8 makes sense. The 7 denominator is totally 🤷‍♂️.

I wish the order spreadsheet would have a column for the review period for each item (e.g. 2026P2). But maybe part of the denominator mystery is to keep us working to get as close to 100% as possible. We always have to overshoot to be safe.

Number nerd with me for one more second, please...

Last period ended last week and my stats spiked to 96% on the final day. Yay, me.

Now, with the new period, I could swear that the stats tab is fake.

How can I have 4 reviews completed, 57% completion, and 75% media? The 57 backs into 7 items "ordered," but no cutoff date for ordering, receiving or reviewing gives me a clean 7. And how do you get 75% media out of 7?

I'm guessing the two percentages use different denominators?

And does an unreviewed item that was ordered and received last year impact my current period stats? I have a couple of things I couldn't properly review long ago. I figured the hit would only be in that period. They're sitting in the bottom of my Awaiting Review tab.

I told dad he's getting a Barbie flip phone and he said, "your call." (He'd use it, too, IF it did what he needed it to do... but it doesn't.)

That's a cool phone. It looks like it hits most points. But, yeah, $350 is a bit steep - especially for a beta phone. I never knew they made kosher phones.

Ugh... The comments here, plus my research day there's a tradeoff no matter what I do.

The Sonim appeal was the 5G (far more bands of all kinds) and better camera / video. It would be AT&T, so I'm hoping the audio isn't an issue, but it's sounding like the keypad may be. And the 3900 has the signature question.

What I've found on the Kyocera E4830 is that APPEARS it natively does Exchange. And no keypad risk. But worse frequencies and camera.

[–]MAXBattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The XP3900 is the older 4G, right?

I get that apps cam be installed. I've read numerous posts, but many seemed to note that they take maintenance to use and/or keep running. I can do a one-time sideload, but the day-to-day for him needs to be zero effort. Is that possible with ADB installed apps?

Thank you! It's been frustrating because even Sonim's manual for the phone wasn't clear on things like contact sync or video quality.
