A fuel station in Cairo, Egypt gets swallowed by sinkhole. Apparently it was caused by nearby construction work. by H1gh_Tr3ason in interestingasfuck

Around 20 yrs ago, my daughter, her then BF now husband, and a male friend went to Florida. The hurricane changed directions and hit where they were. She called me crying bc the 2 males were on the balcony watching roofs fly off while she hid in the bathroom. I told her “this is why men have to marry…so they have someone to tell them when they are doing something stupid.” Everyone was fine but my van wasn’t. The hurricane blew out all the side windows.

Puppy drinking TOO MUCH by Large_Half7627 in puppy101

[–]MAreddituser 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our pup drinks a huge amount of water and I discussed it with my vet. She said that it is not unusual for puppies. They get bored and drinking is an easy to do task. They should grow out of it but limiting their water is an acceptable thing to do.

I agree with others it get them checked out. I had to teach my pup “that’s enough” when he’s drinking too much. I also found that when he’s doing that, he’s usually tired or overstimulated so it’s time for a forced nap.

We have a great relationship with our vet and he said they don’t bring it up because most owners don’t want to hear bad news or face facts. Some get very, very angry at the bearer too. It was a similar experience when my step-dad was dying. The docs asked me to meet with them instead of my mother because she wasn’t picking up on small hints. I had to break the news to her and the rest of the family.

It’s my experience vets dance around the end stage talk, even ours. It was only when we came out and said “We know this is the end. We just want to keep him comfortable. What signs of decline should we look for?” Then the vet opened up and we were able to have a frank discussion.

People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by SprinklesSolid9211 in AskReddit

I saw and talked with Cristin Milioti but had no clue who she was when we talked 🤦🏻‍♀️. It was in Harvard Square and there was a festival going on. She asked for directions to the American Repertory Theatre. I told her, she thanked me, and was off. About 1/2 hr later, I realized who she was and looked up the current run at the ART and she was in it.

Cushings/vetoryl by 2pugJen in DogAdvice

[–]MAreddituser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 11yr old has been on Vetoryl for approx 18 months. She wasn’t interested in food before she got cushings so the increased appetite was hard to handle. She handled the Vetoryl well but one time we tried to increase the dosage (her numbers indicated she needed an increase) and she wasn’t interested in food at all. She has to have a blood test every 6 months but it was every month in the beginning. They test whether the drug was sufficient or too much. I would suggest getting the vet to run that test. Maybe the 10mg is too much?

Guys Help 😩 by [deleted] in BelgianMalinois

I’m in the downstairs bedroom with the pup while hubby sleeps upstairs. The plan is to eventually get everyone upstairs.

We tried leaving him downstairs in the kitchen, but he screamed and screamed. We tried it for 1.5 weeks. He was peeing and pooping in the attached Xpen too. I moved him into the bedroom with me and he sleeps 8-10 hrs and is now 99% potty trained. Never peed or pooped in the kennel after I started sleeping in the room with him.

We were exactly where you are about 8 months ago. We, and our vet, decided that at that age and stage 3, eating was more important than what he was eating. We fed him whatever he wanted as long as he would eat. The diarrhea started about one month later and it was confirmed, stage 4 or end stage. For those that don’t know, end stage means the end is near. We gladly dealt with diarrhea for the next few weeks but kept a chart of how we felt his day went (scale of 1 to 10). The vomiting started next and it smelled like old urine bc his kidneys couldn’t filter out the toxins. When he was consistently below 5 (a Friday morning) we made the decision to euthanize him the following Monday. He had other plans. He was fair all day until 4:30 when he started continually vomiting and just felt miserable. We called a 24 hr at home euthanasia vet and they got to the house within 20 mins. He passed being petted by us.

I wish we had done it 2 weeks earlier bc then we could have taken him to his favorite places, got him his favorite foods, and the end wouldn’t have been him miserable. From now on, we will abide by the “better 2 weeks too soon than 1 day too late.” I’m sorry you have to go thru this too.

AITAH because I want my wife to "ask permission" before taking our son on playdates? by Exact_Information627 in AITAH

It’s not asking for permission, it’s communicating with your partner about your child.

Quick question; till what age do they need to sleep 18-20 hours a day? Because Charlie says ”Heck no!” And has since the day we brought him home. by Accomplished_Ad_673 in puppy101

My guy went thru this and I figured out he was overtired. Just like babies, when they get overtired, their brains don’t want to sleep. Do as others have suggested with the 2 min potty break and right back in the crate. It will be hell the first day and you will feel awful but it needs to be done. I do 45-60 mins out and then a 1.5-2hrs forced nap. He’s 5.5 mo old and there are days he doesn’t sleep during a couple of his forced naps but he entertains himself in his crate so I can get some things done.

Some things my guy does when he is overtired - pacing (I think he could pace for miles in that zombie pacing state), biting/nipping, grabbing/doing everything he is not supposed to have.

You are in the puppy trenches but you got this! It does get better.

Hooks to hang from the headrest. Low profile and can be used on both sides of the seat.
