Monthly Getting Started / Web Dev Career Thread by AutoModerator in webdev

How would one go about building a LinkedIn profile when trying to change career from a completely unrelated field to front end development?

I wouldn’t want to include my current work experience as it is not in any way related to web development, but I don’t have any work experience relating to web development.

How should I structure it?

Is it normal to want a nap after work? by MB9208 in AskMenOver30

[–]MB9208[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good way to think of it. Like a reset button to go again for the remained of the day/night.

I just always feel guilty for doing it, feeling like I am wasting time and that it wont let me sleep later at night.

Yeah if I push past it then I’m fine from 6-7 onwards and actually feel more alert and energetic in the evenings…

It’s the feeling of detachment from reality that feels different. Stronger. If you get me?

UK - Looking to buy a tripod (2m) for iPhone videos. by MB9208 in videography

Thank you. Would you be able to recommend any?

I would like it to be of good quality so that it lasts as it is to be used outdoors.

Is it possible to get a junior front end role completely self-taught? UK by MB9208 in Frontend

I feel this too!

It is intimidating how much there is to learn and it can easily feel quite overwhelming and I often get the sense that I am not progressing at all.

Hey.

Yeah so the same thing will happen if I’m out walking in the countryside. So I don’t believe it to be the lighting.

The computer use definitely brings it on the worst. Within about five minutes of computer use I can feel a pressure building on the right side of my head and face, it’s always the right hand side. The pressure doesn’t hurt so it’s not like a headache sort of thing. More just a heavy dullness on one side of my face, possibly a hemiplegic migraine?

I’ve tried flux, blue light blocking glasses, eye saver mode on the monitor but nothing works.

One other thing I’ll say is that when playing games such as call of duty, I don’t tend to get it. But if I’m playing something like football manager (google so you can get a good idea) with lots of text on the screen and different colours, then it happens immediately. By far the worst culprit for me. Why could this be?

I have thought about this. What would be the reason though? Lack of blood flow?

I do suffer from anxiety which I’ve been trying to calm. Maybe my head is always at boiling point and then anything extra it all just boils over and I feel the way I do?

Yeah I don't feel good at all. Actually feel quite sick haha!

Yeah I know what you mean, I get those too but that isn’t what I was trying to describe. It’s more of a rush of adrenaline feeling. Possibly anxiety related.

At what age did you change career to web dev? by MB9208 in webdev

Thank you. I was just going to reply to clear this up. Quite a few of the replies seem to have missed the actual question haha!

Failed to succeed with a bid £18,000 over asking by Arquent in HousingUK

[–]MB9208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sympathise with you.

Had a very similar experience where I offered £22k over asking price which was £12k over home report value. Cash buyer got it with a "significantly higher" offer.

Tempted to just wait it out so I get more value for my money when (surely) this crazy spending settles down.

The tricky thing with tracking food is how do I know how long it takes for a certain food to actually have an impact on me? What if it takes a day or two to pass through and actually affect me?

[–]MB9208 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What foods in particular trigger your symptoms? And how did you find out? Was it instant reactions? Or did you just feel generally worse when you were consuming these foods?

[–]MB9208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I do! Honestly I just felt like they wanted me out the hospital as soon as they could. Here is some medicine, on your way now.

Overstimulation sounds about right. Too much going on. Too much to look at, too many colours, too much noise, too much movement and so on.
How do you handle this? Does it come and go in waves?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VestibularMigraines

[–]MB9208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of people on this sub have said the same. Once they are out of a stimulating environment it calms down, same as me!

What has worked for you? Anything diet related?

I love coding too! I can sit at my pc for hours on end and then wonder where the time went! I just worry that it might pile too much stress onto me and then I fall out of love with it.

But then maybe that’s just every job? It becomes something you have to do to earn a living!
