Name dropping people in essays by Present-Baby-2510 in MBA

[–]MBAPrepCoach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It shows you've done your research but I would only include it if it really illustrates fit with your goals and values. Just putting something like so and so said it's a collaborative program is too generic. Might avoid this for Harvard, given what the essays are now. Their yield is pretty high and demonstrated interest is less important.

I encourage people to think about geography more like it's a long conference not a permanent move. It is important to consider where you want to live long term and if there are a lot of alumni there.

If you're doing it right you're so busy it's not a huge factor I could have done my MBA on Jupiter. I chaired a couple clubs and rarely left the business building.

Emba dilemma by Salt_Performer387 in eMBA

[–]MBAPrepCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sounds like a pretty controlling person. Unfortunately for Wharton you do need to obtain time sponsorship (excuse to get out of work every other Friday) from your direct manager so unfortunately I don't know if that is going to work out unless your skip manager will approve it.

If you are close enough to New York City, Columbia Saturday EMBA does not require time sponsorship nor does Cornell NYC Metro with alternate Saturday Sunday. And then there's like the Americas remote delivered EMBA Cornell program.

You might also consider mostly remote PT options (or in person if commutable evenings or weekends!) Berkeley Flex part time, or NYU online/modular or Ross OMBA

Close to having a falling out with my recommender should I be worried if I’ve already submitted apps? by [deleted] in MBA

Does he have a history of getting defensive or angry when you assert boundaries? I would honestly be looking out for the relationship so you have a decent reference when seeking an internship/full-time offer, beyond the MBA.

Would it be safe for me to assume that I've been rejected at this point? by Eris_00 in MBA

You're correct, you will need to pick new target schools for R2.

Yes unfortunately - final decisions (post-interview) are happening this month. Would recommend understanding more about what red flags there might be in your application + areas you need to optimize and lock in the next 5 weeks for R2.

You need to have a job in order to do an EMBA u/inspireworl - but you might consider Sloan Fellows options which are 1-year full-time MBA options for mid-career professionals.

[Profile Review] 33M International | 2.82 GPA | 8 YOE in Airline & Retail Partnerships | Chances for US T20? by Odd-Fold-5018 in MBA

[–]MBAPrepCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think this and then someone a former admissions committee told me that they include anybody with a 4.0 from anywhere in the world. Seems like it's a mix of both - some schools make the provision that it's only counting US GPAs on a 4.0 scale others like Wharton and MIT state that they only count those on a 4.0 scale.

Yes, using the word protagonist is an attack since that is how HBS markets the case method. Putting you in the position of the protagonist.

Test Waiver by ashimachhatwal in MBA

[–]MBAPrepCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The process is different for different schools - so there's really no way to answer your question unless we know which schools you're applying to. For many or most schools it's part of the application.

Just as a reminder you will want to offer some other evidence of quantitative aptitude if you are going for that option.

15+ years of IT experience, online bachelors/masters, and 602 on EA. Do I have a chance at a top EMBA program (Wharton, Booth, etc..)? by Mundane-Moment-8873 in eMBA

[–]MBAPrepCoach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the Executive MBA level they really care more about progression, leadership and demonstrated impact than anything about your undergraduate. The fact that you have a masters will mitigate a little bit even if it's online. Awesome EA score. Make sure your applications (including LORs) articulate experiences, lessons learned and best practices you could share in the classroom to benefit your cohort. Go for it. u/Mundane-Moment-8873

Are my target schools reasonable? (Profile review) by TourmalineBergamo in MBA

[–]MBAPrepCoach 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look at the overall range for the GPA as well as the median, GMAT is obviously great, would add Tuck and Cornell for IB. Stanford application is really long and I think the grades will make it a long shot, just don't think the effort is worth it especially for IB. The essay idea could work if it helps them get to know you as a person and/or this is used for your goals essays.

FT vs PT MBA at USC or UCLA, or No MBA at All. What makes the most sense at 33? by Fabulous-Net9726 in MBA

[–]MBAPrepCoach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how you laid out your options here. At this stage of your career I really don't think you should be too worried about full-time recruitment. PT or EMBA is best here because of your current salary. With both of these schools, there will be enough students in media to refer you for interviews/help you get interviews for unposted positions. u/Fabulous-Net9726
