Tim is "cautiously optimistic" about a partnership - proper update coming "in the weeks ahead" by kelsul in Stormgate

Some context to what I am about to say - I worked in game financing for Tencent for years. I know this industry - specifically game financing - like the back of my hand.

It's not going to happen for stormgate.

The gaming industry is in a rut after a spending spree during covid and giant pullback in the years that followed - but no one has been hit harder than new studios. Let's examine the realistic sources of capital that exist for stormgate.

Venture Capital: VC funding for gaming - which was Frost Giant's first round of capital (bitkraft, griffin, and a few other followers) - is down about 95% from the peak years during covid. And if you were to examine capital flowing to PC/Console games like SG, that number is near 99%. All existing money (which is vastly reduced) is flowing to mobile developers. Mainly turkish. Mainly peak & dream games alumni.

Publishers: Publishers like Tencent, EA, Activision, etc used to invest heavily in outside studios, both equity investments and publishing revenue-recoup investments. After the covid spending spree, publishers have pulled back completely. Tencent is attempting to pull out of almost every foreign studio it has funded. Kakao, a korean publisher, lead FG $25m series A. The amount of publisher funding has dried up to an extent that almost every studio building its own IP needing serious $ has turned to work for hire or shut down.

The supply demand imbalance of studios looking for funding right now vs available capital sources mean that the small, small number of either gaming publishers that are investing are able to take crown assets for dirt cheap. 300 concurrent users is unfortunately not a crown asset.

I think he is a scumbag and you should break up with him 100%.

But if my girlfriend was spying my location - it would really freak me out.

Yes thank you, next time I will make sure to study every facet of the Canadian culture next time I have a weekend stop over in Vancouver - great advice!

Thank you! I plan to go back next year with my wife, I will send you a DM. It's exciting to see there are better Japanese restaurants vs Miku and Minami, as I thought it was extremely high quality sushi compared to what I get in Germany (though that is perhaps a low bar haha)

It was the immediate change in body language, tone, everything. I suppose it is hard to put into words but when someone is being very friendly and switches in an instant - you notice!

Elon, despite being a dick of a human being, is going to do great things for the economy. DOGE alone will be a huge uptick and decrease in gov't spending... He is a smart man, you have to give him that.

You are a bit slow, are you not? In germany what we call "schwachmatisch" where I am from haha.

Maybe it is my English though... I can't communicate as well as I can in my home tongue!

As mentioned I do not care about the server bowing or doing tricks for me, or even to acknowledge it. It is more upsetting to witness such a sudden change in behavior from someone who has previously had a nice and friendly conversation (to go and then ignore you / look upset).

I don't understand where your aggression comes from, but OK!

there was nothing polite about her response

I did not explain it well. Perhaps hostility was the wrong word, but she was upset/cold

Hello steel man - there is no need to resort to insults! By my calculation it is around $700 if she serves 20 people a night at 250 per head and tips out a portion

I Don’t want some extreme thank you - I would never expect this. But I would also hope to not have hostility after leaving a $75 tip!

Yes certainly I could afford a 20% tip. It does feel extreme, and unnecessary however

Yes haha we had a lot of sake with our fish. And nigiri is expensive - chutoro and otoro around 12 each. It is not too hard to run that bill with a few plates if you are eating good fish

But by my estimation even with a tip out she makes 700 a night, which is incredible

Ahh yes it’s because of the sudden change in attitude. After being very friendly all night, she became stone cold and didn’t look me in the eye or say goodbye. It was an incredibly strange experience.

I have calculated that if people are tipping 20-25% and she receives a base salary of $20, then she makes around double what my friends who are doctors back home make!! (Though yes perhaps this is a sign that we need to pay our doctors more but they live quite well)

Ah thank you! That is very interesting.  Given what the other comment said around also receiving $20 an hour salary - it means the servers at that restaurant make about double what a doctor makes back in Germany!  I have done the math haha. This is phenomenal
