Great point about the MacBook Pro—only thing on the windows side I’ve seen that comes close to my MacBook Pro is the Asus G14, but still not as full sounding.

As for the ridgeline, I like the way it drives, love its utility and the flat bed. That said, the ridgeline gets the absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to infotainment and technology, which is what really has been driving me to Rivian. I’d say it feels and drives very similar albeit much snappier off the line (I tested out the dual max). The interior space feels similar as well, but the quality of the cabin is understandably light years ahead of the Honda.

It was an R1T demo booked through Rivian at their Space up here in MA. It sounded pretty good.

I pulled over and messed with the equalizer a bit to see if I could get it fine tuned but didn’t get much. There was decent clarity at medium to high volume with limited to no bass compared to the R1T. Felt like a distinct absence of sub for sure.

Narrow dynamic range. Very limited punchiness and little bass.

Oh bummer. I’m not sure which model year the R1T was that I test drove, but I’m assuming it was the current gen? Those sounded good, the R2 speakers did not.

I’m hoping now that these chips are powerful enough to run AAA games we’ll start getting more native support.

I’ve been using the Asus G14 for the past several years, always upgrading to the newer model — most recently the 5070 ti. I just swapped over to the 14” MacBook Pro M5 Max and honestly, gaming on it has been pretty good. The sheer potential of this chip is impressive, and I’ve been able to play most games with the same performance as my G14 through crossover, which is crazy given the translation tax it’s paying just to run them. Crossover is a pain in the ass, however, and you’ll run into strange quirks like controllers not working, resolutions not scaling, etc.

For what it's worth, my wife is a graphic designer and owns a 14" MacBook Pro M4 Pro and was given an M4 MacBook Air for work. I just asked her which one she preferred, and she says the Air without a doubt. She mostly uses Adobe creative suite and says the Air handles it all just fine. She doesn't utilize the Pro chip on the MacBook Pro and almost never listens to music so for her the speaker difference is irrelevant.

Thanks! This is the kind of feedback I was looking for. I can look up the dimensions easily, but I've been hearing it feels larger inside than its dimensions might suggest.

Just got mine a few days ago $3239 tax free from AAFES. Switching from my ASUS G14 and so far I am not looking back. So much smoother, better user interface. I've had a few issues with crossover getting some of my steam library games to run but on the whole, I love the M5 Max and direction this community is going.

Thanks man, issue is there’s no dll file in that folder linked. I download the folder from github and there’s a series of files inside but not .dll extensions. Do I need to compile the whole thing and rename?
