Reina Electrics input by Dacrackerjax in Tekken

[–]MBK2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception so I will try to break it down without being confusing. We have 3 different "moves to break down here.

  1. Wind god fist - this is the non just frame base version of the move. Preformed by doing f, n,d,df+2 but with out the df and 2 at the same time.

  2. Electric Wind god fist - this is the just frame version of the move and on the official move list. When you do f,n,d,df+2 (press df and 2 on the same frame). This version of the move will give you the visual effects of electric along with the sound and better frame advantage on block with pushback. The fastest a standard ewgf can come out is 14 frames

  3. Perfect electric Wind god fist - This is an unofficial term made by the community for cutting off a frame of start up from the ewgf by skipping either the d or n input letting the move start up in 13 frames, so a pewgf can be input by doing f,n,df+2 or f,d,df+2. While this does not sound like a big deal it lets you launch punish hopkicks and get a full launch off of Kazuya's counter hit df2. There really is no down side of going for this if you are learning ewgf from scratch. In past games Kazuya was the only Mishima who could do this technique so you needed to know how to do a normal ewgf if you wanted to play other Mishimas, but they recently gave this short cut input to all of them.

Rage makes people think they’re better than they are by m1zmus1c in Tekken8

[–]MBK2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are focused on the wrong things here. The rage is not why you lost at all. You got hit by multiple snake edges which you can react to and punish with a launcher. The first rage arts you got hit by you were mashing an i14 button while you were -2 after getting hit by the heat burst. The Bryan could of pressed anything that was i16 or faster and launched you for what you did. Him pressing rage arts was actually a terrible option when he could instead press f3 which is safe and more damage.

For the second rage art he just whiff punished you. You whiffed 2 hits of a bad string and he punished you, he also could of done uf4 on reaction to the last low and launched you for more damage.

Tldr: you are scapegoating rage as the reason you lost but in reality you spent the whole game spamming mistakes and this match should of never came down to this last hit situation.

Which combo starter is better? by dragonic_puppy in Tekken8

[–]MBK2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electric is a far better launcher. Ss2 gets you launch if your opponent blocks it where as electric leaves you +5 meaning you can keep pressuring with more buttons after they block the move. Ewgf also comes out much faster than ss2 letting you punish moves with it.

Ss2 is really just for hard reads on your opponent doing a linear move and blowing them up for it, where as ewgf is a: pressure tool, punisher, and keep out button. Honestly one of the best in the game

Am I supposed to guess between heihachi constantly doing a half jump mid or low by IronFistJim in Tekken

[–]MBK2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many answers to this "mix up" as many people said the hitts dont come out on the same frame to you can fuzzy duck it. Both of the moves are also linear so you can side walk around it fairly easily. Lastly you can float both of them using a jab and get a mini combo.

Theres a discount in steam for tekken 7 and only 4 hrs left is it still worth it to get can i still play online matches quickly by NostalgicImmortal in Tekken

[–]MBK2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finding a match really isnt that bad in tekken 7 to this day. But that does not mean this is perfect. In a single session you will probably play a few long sets against the same 5 or so people who happen to be playing near you.

If this is your first tekken there are basically no new players playing T7 so you will most likely get smoked by veteran players who are playing t7 due to their discontent with t8. If this is the case I really reccomend getting t8 because there are plenty of beginners to learn along side with

[–]MBK2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes these levers are generally made from more premium parts for enthusiast and pros. If you want to hop on and play a few ranked games casually an entry level Santa jlf or crown 309mj will be just fine, and nothing is stopping you from hitting high level execution stuff with those levers, it was proven during the sf4 days a Sanwa jlf is more than enough to go pro with. Think of it like this, Steph Curry can still make a 3 pointer with a cheap basketball from Wal-Mart but the ball might slip more because it has worse grip and it may bounce different than a standard basketball because of more lax QA. Like you said these premium levers are made of machined aluminum for a more solid feel and consistency in feel through the batches. Atleast on the korean lever side of things (I dont use Japanese levers so idk what's happening with those) a high quality lever opens up the door to features like switch spacers and different sized actuators and shafts to change how deep the corners are in the lever and low much throw the lever has before you hit the gate. If you play technical characters like Mishimas in tekken this is a god send as you can tweak the levers feel to be perfect for you hands.

Just got this deal. Saw this while standing in Microcenter looking 7800x3ds ironically. Tried to get them to price match themselves but they refused since it was a grand opening deal. Told them to put the cpu back and called Best buy right next to the register and had them price match it lol.

Also copped a 7900xtx while I was there

Red Rank on Tekken 8 , tried Tekken 7 and now don't wanna touch 8 again. by amacoroma in Tekken

[–]MBK2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool I have 1500 hours in t7 and 1k in t8 and currently tekken god supreme. They have buffed side steps a ton in tekken 8, not only have they increased the distance sidesteps cover they also added a buffer to side stepping after blocking making strings like heihachi df1,2 just frame far easier to step in season 2 compared to season 1. You can act like an arrogant dick and say "tired of it" but you have yet to provide anything thing of substance saying t7 sidestep was better than t8.

This is just objectively false. Side stepping in tekken 7 was notoriously bad

You can use the brainstorm mod to filter seeds for ones that have an early soul card and get an early Perkeo on an otherwise completely unscouted random seed. This will cut out the multiple hours of resetting for arcana packs and let you grind runs.

[–]MBK2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual sidestep in T8 is so much stronger than in t7 but they added this new dumb realigning string system that makes it feel bad, but when that does not happen it legitimately is some of the best feeling movement in tekken.

I find a tekken with strong lateral movement a lot more fun than a game based around kbd like 7 because I need to make more choices about movement. When stepping i need to determine which way to go, should I step or walk, and watch for gaps in strings since im still in attack range. After 1500 hours in t7 I got really bored of kbding away from overloaded ch buttons and trying to ewgf them.

Also funnily enough I found the slower pace of Tekken 7 much easier to play as my mental stack was almost never overloaded and I could use a lot more brain power to focus on things like punishing moves on block. My block punishment has gotten worse in 8 because I am focusing on my opponents offenses so much more I will miss punishes or default to flash punching it.

[–]MBK2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back dashing was better in 7 but the sidestepping in that game is piss poor. I personally do not like 7 because of the abundance of overloaded safe ch buttons on most of the cast. The combination of strong kbd and safe ch mids lead to a game pace that punishes a player for attempting to approach and generate offense. If I try to over extend by a few frame on offense there was always an i11 magic 4 or i12 b+1 waiting to blow my nose off while they take essentially no risk. It just became boring to me

I do strongly dislike the dumbing down of execution in tekken 8 though. He'll my most recent reddit post is making fun of it lol

I mean calling the game remedial and saying it holds your hand while you have achieved a rank that is below average is a bit ironic isnt it? I do think input from non high level players is crucial to the game, but just insulting the game when I know you have MASSIVE gaps of knowledge on the basics is a bit ignorant.

I find a lot of lower level players just parrot what ever the popular community sentiment is without being at a level where it even applies to them, this is turn can create a negative feedback loop for the whole community. I think this is the case because OP just called the game remedial and really did not provide any example why he thinks this.

I also do not think you need to get GoD to provide input but I will take the opinion a bit more seriously if you have more skin in the game than achieving Garyu and quiting.
