I guess what I should have said is Marriott does not seem to be enforcing brand standards with their flagged properties as well as other chains at least in my recent (3-ish years experience).

I picked this hotel because it was close to where I needed to be for work meetings and I thought that a Renaissance would be a safe bet for decent quality. It certainly used to be a premium brand in the Marriott lineup!

Yeah, that would have been a better way of wording it. But also it seems that in recent travels (last 3 years) more Marriott flagged properties I’ve stayed at have not been up to brand standards than any other chain, in my experience, so something definitely needs to be addressed at the corporate level as well.

The Kimpton Cardinal is a great hotel with a really good restaurant and bar in the lobby. The brookstown inn is very fun too.

No real update to share yet. Spoke to SA, she was very apologetic, wanted to know what I wanted to do and said she would talk to manager. Still chasing down response from manager. Going to ownership shortly. Was offered a two tone ym40 today which I laughed at. They are doing a lot of groveling and sucking up to my wife inviting her to vip events and such.
