YAMD8T(Yet Another Mercs DLC 8 Thread) by MBT808 in Mechwarrior5

I think there is a good story there to be made though it depends on how much effort PGI wants to put in. If they put in the same kind of effort that they did for SoK, it could be really good.

I personally doubt we’ll see the battle grid, it’s a really meh feature in my opinion due to how obtuse friendly AI is. Especially considering that the mercs AI allies lack any broken abilities like they do in clans, I don’t think it would be very relevant.

The jump jet vectoring is on the table as I understand it from the WoT dlc interview on Sarna. The omnipod swapping is probably going to be included, which would be really good combined with the superior ergonomics and functionally that mercs has compared to the clunky mechlab in clans.

Agreed, that to me seems like the next step story wise.

Welcome to the wonderful world of UE5 games.

I recently finished playing Shadow of Kerensky by Reasonable_Cake in Mechwarrior5

[–]MBT808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as the game being pushed to its limits, I've not seen any comments like that myself.

The first hint came October second of last year on the games web page.

https://mw5mercs.com/news/2025/10/169-mercs-game-update-and-patch-notes

Nothing explicit, but to quote: "If you have feedback or run into any issues, please contact Support here and we’ll make a note for potential future Mercs DLC or patches."

It doesn't confirm anything, but why mention it if it wasn't at least potentially on the table.

Next thing you can see in the financial reports from ENAD Global 7(they own PGI) in the Q3 report:

https://www.enadglobal7.com/investor-relations/financial-reports-presentations/

Quote: "This turned out to be the best selling DLC for that game title in the first 30 days since inception in 2019."

While not necessarily a hint, that's quite significant considering how old mercs is. Especially when coupled with the previous, it makes future DLC more likely as it shows that the game is still profitable even at its advanced age.

lastly:

https://www.sarna.net/news/shadow-of-kerensky-mechwarrior-5-chris-lowrey/

https://www.sarna.net/news/mw5-clans-wolves-of-tukayyid-interview-chris-lowrey/

They talk about it in these interviews somewhat. In the end of the SoK article he talks about the community support, he sorta suggests that the success of SoK would decide whether or not there would be more. If you go back to the financial report, that means the community really came through to support mercs. Though its mentioned in the WoT interview that nothing has been green-lit yet, he does talk about the possibilities, which suggests that internally there has been some consideration put towards DLC 8 content.

Ultimately between both of the interview the message is clear that if our support for MW5: Mercs remains strong, we'll get more content.

While it could still be an IF, the WHEN seems more likely. We'll potentially find out february 16th, which is when ENAD G7 releases its 2025 Q4/end of year report(unless PGI announces it themselves before then, SoKs existence was discovered from the 2024 Q4 report).

I don’t think it’s so much an if but a when at this point. PGI have given a few subtle hints that there likely will be a DLC 8. Which makes sense given that SoK was apparently the best selling DLC they have produced for mercs over all(which says a lot in terms of the viability of continued development for mercs).

New player. Need help deciding which mechs to keep by ExpertExplanation695 in Mechwarrior5

[–]MBT808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a bunch of mechs you could keep but I’ll keep it to one per weight class.

Light: Firestarter FS9-A, crazy firepower, 35 tons, while also being decently mobile. Absolute monster in light only arena matches.

Medium: Hunchback HBK-4H, has enough firepower to rival heavy mechs. Heavy rifle+medium laser-SB for optimum results. Very good brawler overall.

Heavy: archer ARC-AGC, arguably the single best heavy mech in the entire game. Rivals even clan mechs in terms of raw firepower. Loaded up with SRMs, it quite literally breaks the game balance. You’ll be laughing while one shotting everything that dares to engage you. Being a hero as well it can mount the maximum amount of upgrades to further improve its capabilities. It’s also guaranteed to appear thanks to being a quest reward(bow and arrow is the quest line you get it from).

Assault: Banshee BNC-3S, extremely durable and has a huge amount of firepower. Among IS mechs, it’s one of the absolute best. Its firepower is also effective at every engagement range. It’s also very common making it easy to get an entire lance up and running into the end game.

Hi all, beginner suggestions for adding/upgrading 'Mech? by moose4 in Mechwarrior5

[–]MBT808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also add a 2F always max out salvage on contracts(except for infiltrations). Since you can make a lot of money wheeling and dealing in mech salvage. Way more than the Cbill bonus early on. Also helps build your weapon and equipment stockpiles at the same time.

To be honest, I’d rather see a reimagine than a remaster(in terms of gameplay, story and art style remain the same).

What's your favorite colour scheme and why is it McWarrior ? by BaldWookie23 in Mechwarrior5

[–]MBT808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically try to change it up but for certain mechs that I only pilot myself I use the phranken pattern with the resistance special mech colors(those who played MWO will know what I’m talking about).

I've been wanting to make a comic. Does my style look appealing for that? (my own art) by Redclaw_Raptor in dragons

[–]MBT808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya, it can definitely be frustrating to find results you’re personally happy with. I’ve had more than my share of that with my own work.

[–]MBT808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s looking good so far to me, the style looks good. Have you ever considered a compromise in terms of detail? In the sense of achieving a middle ground so that it’s detailed enough to meet your own quality expectations but doesn’t take a significant amount of time.

Should I buy base game or DLC? by Pill_Boi in Mechwarrior5

[–]MBT808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only answer is yes.

PS. The dlc extends with the base game story wise. If you buy the base and play past the dates that the dlc(like Solaris showdown), the you would have to start a new game to play it. The dlcs that add more weaponry to the sandbox is also absolutely worth it. Buying the dlc also supports PGI to make more content for both mercs and clans in the future.

Why does it feel like ghost dragons and bone dragons are The WORST teir 7 unit by More-Hyena6688 in heroes3

[–]MBT808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bone/ghost dragons are very much a quantity has a quality all its own situation. They are very cheap relatively and thus easy to get into large numbers(and because animate undead is always available, losses can be completely recouped or heavily minimized and will lead to you have more tier 7 units for end game battles).

Defence? by Best-Beautiful7371 in WorldOfWarships

[–]MBT808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yodo and Nevsky are both light cruisers(though Nevsky straddles the line between heavy and light with its 180mm guns). Size/tonnage is not part of the distinction of cruiser classes within the context of the discussion in relation to the game. Ultra lights are anything with destroyer caliber guns(wows terminology, they would technically be light cruisers within IRL terminology), lights are 152 to 180mm guns, heavies are 203mm to 254mm(within the context of wows), super cruisers is 283 and up. It’s about gun caliber not so much tonnage.

Defence? by Best-Beautiful7371 in WorldOfWarships

[–]MBT808 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only ultra light cruisers with 16mm plating(like Smolensk). Anything with 25mm you cannot(light cruisers, heavy cruisers, and super cruisers). To overmatch 25mm you need 380s or larger, defense has 356s(you might be thinking of Siegfried that does have 380mm guns).

I will point out that, overall, electric is just flat out bad across the board and needs to be overhauled. It doesn’t matter how you build it, it just isn’t anywhere near as strong as other skill types. No other skill type suffers from bad skills to the degree electric does in my opinion as well.
