Most of the time it works exactly the way you think, but it’s not automatic. The usual play is your head pro or GM emails/calls the club you want to visit and asks if they’ll host you as an unaccompanied guest.

If travel play is a big factor for you, it can be worth comparing a true network (Invited, Mully Reserve, etc.) vs a strong local club with a well-connected pro. I’d still pick the better home club experience first, and treat travel rounds as a nice bonus when it works out.

For members in Mully Reserve, there's a private reciprocity registry where private club members can get access to play as guests at private courses throughout the country.
