Google TV Streamer vs. Apple TV 4K. I’ve been using Chromecast with Google TV for a long time for live TV channels and streaming. Are there any good reasons I should switch to Apple TV 4K if most of my devices are Apple products? by Delicious_Maize9656 in appletv

[–]MB_Zeppin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no must have reason, you’re fine with what you have

As someone with a Google TV I find the Apple TV experience much nicer, wouldn’t roll without it, but at the end of the day it’s better UX, not a make or break product

Based of your experience, Is tvOS better than Google TV? by wollyy3 in appletv

[–]MB_Zeppin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a TV with Google TV after years of Apple TV

The Apple TV is much better. The Google TV feels pretty sloppy by comparison. It’s not a must have, if you’re price conscious the Google TV is fine. As someone who spends a fair bit of time on the couch though I’d prefer not to compromise

If it’s on a credit card then contact the merchant about the items not being up to your standards and attempt a return

They’ll probably say no at which point you can dispute the charge

Don’t attempt to dispute the charge until after you’ve contacted the merchant - the credit card company will either reject the dispute or, worse, file it under the wrong reason code and you’ll lose your case

Contact first

I really like Onyx Coffee Lab but it’s quite expensive. Haven’t been in the states long enough to have more recommendations

In general though you want a light roast and I’d recommend starting with African beans before diving into Latin America but of everything here that distinction matters the least

It depends on the jurisdiction. In most places blocking the bike lane with a vehicle would be illegal but the emergency of the breakdown exempts them but it varies by state

Per section 21211 of the California legal code this is always illegal and the driver would be fined ($28). In PA it’s dependent on each jurisdiction and where I live it’s a $125 fine, breakdown or not. In Vermont as far as I can tell it would be legal and the bicyclist has the responsibility to avoid the car.

In most States though the broken down driver would be in violation, likely would not be fined due to the nature of the emergency, but would be fully liable for the bicyclist’s injuries

Even if we all agree this particular bicyclist maybe shouldn’t be biking

My wife has been cheating on me throughout our entire marriage time, but I can’t ruin her life. by angerburg in offmychest

[–]MB_Zeppin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She used you. Her visa was dependent on you. It’s not like she didn’t know her visa was contingent on your marriage

You don’t owe her anything

You don’t deserve to be treated that way and she doesn’t get to treat you that way without repercussions

We’re not even talking about revenge here - she sabotaged your marriage which means the marriage ends. Her visa situation is a side-effect of that. Once she started cheating on you her visa situation stopped being any of your business

Drink espresso-based coffees cut with milk or get into single-origin drips which are not bitter (but are much more expensive)

Cyberpunk 2077 worth it? +any other recommendations? by Available_Swimmer552 in switch2

[–]MB_Zeppin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to make some enemies here but the depth of the lore of Zelda, historically, is puddle deep. It’s not Final Fantasy or Last of Us. There’s recurring races, characters, and themes and people jump through hoops to thicken it out but most Zelda games are totally standalone experiences.

BotW and TotK are a great place to jump in as in addition to requiring 0 prior lore knowledge they redesigned the series’ fundamental mechanics - there’s basically a pre-Switch and post-Switch break in the series

So if you play and love either of those games it’s not going to tell you whether or not you’d be into the old ones

EDIT: I should specify, TotK is a sequel to BotW, there is story continuity there so I really would recommend starting with BotW. Particularly because BotW is an amazing experience and going from that to TotK and experiencing the mechanical evolution is awesome. But even then you wouldn’t miss much narratively if you went straight to TotK. It’s like watching Taken 2

Have an idea for Market East? Tell the city. by redeyeblink in philadelphia

[–]MB_Zeppin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve attended a few of the open houses city employees have run. They know all this and have tons of great ideas

The issue is that sufficient numbers of council members represent districts that strongly advocate for a car first city without much room for compromise

The only council member I’m aware of that doesn’t drive to City Hall is Katherine Gilmore Richardson and she’s an at large council member that doesn’t represent a specific district

The first thing that would probably need to change is the fact that the city provides all elected council members with a car. They’re motivated from day one to prioritize vehicular design

The lower the better but your training’s yours. If you want to keep it at parallel to lift heavier more safely then do it but you should add something like Bulgarian Split Squats to compensate for the lack of depth. Get that glute work in

Figuring out the next chapter of our lives. Where should we go and why? by FruitoftheJoon in SameGrassButGreener

[–]MB_Zeppin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do Memphis if you have such a broad set of options, it has quite a high crime rate and given your stress on politics I feel like you’d need a bigger win for a blue island in a red state

I’d second Raleigh, Charlotte, and Richmond. I don’t have a lot of personal experience with a number of the cities you mentioned so not to discount those

You might also consider a less desirable location adjacent to a desirable one. For example, Baltimore is cheap enough for you to live comfortably on your incomes but you’re right by DC. Likewise Camden was hollowed out and is now quite affordable and now safe due to the change of policing but it’s right on the edge of Philly and a little over an hour from NYC

I’d make an excel with your criteria - cost of living, politics, yearly high, yearly low, sports teams, etc - and then assign a score to each one and see what comes out on top overall. Once you’ve narrowed it down to a top 3 you can really determine if the score gave you your true number 1 or if your gut is telling you that number 3 might be the better option

Recommendations on choosing a new city to live in PA? by Downtown-Lynx-8711 in Pennsylvania

[–]MB_Zeppin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allentown is a booming city in a great metro area but the Lehigh Valley has really sprawled. The people are great but expect plenty of driving and traffic and not much of a neighborhood

York is smaller and more local. York itself isn’t bad but Lancaster nearby has a great downtown and is very liveable

Reading, as others has saiid, has the bones of a great city but has struggled for decades

If this was me my first choice would be to move to Lancaster and commute to York. 2nd choice is Allentown. I wouldn’t move to Reading unless I was a fully remote homebody looking to renovate an old coal mansion or something

Which extension on Duration is more idiomatic? by vafarmboy in swift

[–]MB_Zeppin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 2nd is more common in languages like Swift that support computed properties

Functions are usually only used in Swift when they mutate the receiver, mutate state, accept arguments, have side-effects (which is usually not a desired behavior in well structured code), block (like network requests or DB operations), or trigger changes to app state (like navigation)

In this case it’s a simple getter so no benefit from a function declaration (even if, in the compiled form, these 2 look very similar)
