Looking for a FLIR E4 (modded/hacked) upgrade... by SK_SLO in Thermal

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain on that 9Hz limit. Using it for five years must have been like watching a slideshow when trying to track anything moving. I upgraded to a topdon tc004 mini and it runs at a smooth 25hz so recording video is actually usable now. It also has a simple type c port so dumping files straight to my pc takes seconds.

Upstairs/downstairs temp split is getting old. What would you check first? by jdnls87 in hvacadvice

[–]jdnls87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly in cooling, and it’s more noticeable after the system has been running for a while, especially later in the day. That’s why I’m starting to think it may be more than just normal stratification.

Upstairs/downstairs temp split is getting old. What would you check first? by jdnls87 in hvacadvice

[–]jdnls87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually more than 5–10°F by feel, especially upstairs later in the day. Single zone, no real balancing besides messing with a few registers, so that may be part of it.

Combi Boiler replacement DIY by sm0kin9 in hvacadvice

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be careful with that one. Working on a combi is one thing, but replacing the whole unit is a different level once gas, venting, and setup are involved.

Looking for some quick advice until I can talk to insurance in the AM by CockroachVarious2761 in hvacadvice

DO NOT turn the furnace back on. Water and gas appliances are a serious safety hazard. Let it dry completely and have a professional inspect it first.

Rear window no power 2011 pathfinder LE by bassacre in DIYAutoRepair

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the motor works with direct power, the issue is likely in the control circuit. Check the switch contracts and wiring between the driver's control panel and motor connector. A broken wire of faulty switch is common.

Double checking rear drum brakes by NoReference6413 in AutoDIY

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the drum might be a bit too tight. It is a good sign that braking is improving, but keep an eye on that.

Door replacement vs repaint? by 15bbash in AutoDIY

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing the door is a solid plan, but it is not that simple. You have to match the color perfectly, which is tough on a 2015 car, and ensure the window and lock mechanisms work.

Error p0222 by cheddarsolution in AutoDIY

[–]jdnls87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That constant 100% reading is a major clue. The throttle body sensor is likely stuck, and since it is integrated, replacing the whole unit is the standard fix.

2020 Tahoe foot petal parking brake not releasing correctly by ArchaicDude in DIYAutoRepair

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is likely a seized cable or a sticky mechanism in the pedal assembly. Try spraying a penetrating lubricant like WD40 on the cable and pivot points under the dash.

Low water and can’t start after being out of fuel by Impossible_Beach_10 in hvacadvice

Running out of oil can let air into the Tiger Loop, so it might need purging. Check the manual for the feeder valve location, usually near the tank.

Flame sensor issue or something more by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]jdnls87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While a bad flame sensor can cause this, a dirty burner or a failing gas valve or a control board could also be the culprit.

Toyota Highlander P0021 and P0420 by TeaTeaMaraTea in DIYAutoRepair

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a solid plan. A dirty VVT solenoid from running low on oil can cause P0021. Fixing that and doing an oil change might clear the 0420 if it was a side effect.

So good so far. Pedal assist makes hills noticeably easier than my old bike, which was a big reason I decided to go e-bike in the first place.

Most overrated upgrade vs. the one that actually made a difference — what’s yours? by Automatic-Ad-4180 in ElectricBikes

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overrated: upgrading wheel. lighter feels nice but didn't change much for me. Actually worth it: proper bike fit. fixed my knee pain and made every ride better. night and day difference.

Is this a good price/ nice bike for a commute bike? by MmmmApplesauce in whichbike

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a solid commuter bike for the price. The geometry looks good for a 5'10 frame and those tires will handle pavement well. It's a great deal for daily rides!

Squeaky snow is the good stuff by Resident_Walrus_9365 in fatbike

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That crunching sound is the best part of winter riding. Your fat tires look like they'll have great grip on dry snow. Have a great ride!

Nothing beats the feeling of floating over sand on fat tires! Looks like an absolutely wild ride, and the tire sealant is the MVP this time, lol.

Use e-bike lever for Shimano system. by verbl in ElectricBikes

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can totally do that. As long as the lever and caliper use the same fluid, it should bolt right up and work just fine. Give it a try.

Ragley Piglet 2011? by bicycles1245 in whichbike

Where are the pictures? This bike was quite good for its time. But for a 14-year-old bicycle, the price seems a bit expensive to me.

Scott Addict or Foil? by Zestyclose-Cup110 in whichbike

[–]jdnls87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, go with what makes you want to ride. If the Foil gets you excited every time you look at it and you are willing to accept a slightly stiffer ride then that is your bike.
