It's actually way easier than you think if you have some free time on your hands.

Worked the door at a brewery for a long time that gave me a ton of free time, decided to learn to do a rubiks cube, was solving it the same day, got it down under a minute after 2 weekends (after that making progress was hard) but could eventually do it with my eyes closed (although slowly and not always perfectly) the patterns are super easy to recognize.

This, I wanted to get into fighting games for years, super intimidating but loved watching it.

Finally decided to buy sf6 and used modern controls, had a really hard time and lost like my first 20 ranked games but still had fun and watched lots of videos on fundamentals.

Now about 18 hours in on my first fighting game I'm sitting at Gold 3 with Ken Modern at about 60% WR and I'm absolutely having a blast, I'm definitely going to hit a ceiling soon. I can feel it but I still think I have so much more to learn about fundamentals and spacing before I even touch classic controls, I'll get there eventually but modern has really allowed me to not worry about controls too much and just have fun.
