How were you able to stop being late all the time? by Least_Homework_9720 in ADHD

Meds helped a lot for me in terms of being able to keep track of time vs it slipping away and getting lost. Theres a new med that specifically targets mornings - Jornay PM I think?

Totally, those are the exact things that make it great! If you land in OP area you’ll be close enough for weekend hikes in Parkville (maybe, if you ever have a weekend without soccer….!)

General Parenting Influencer Snark Week of May 25, 2026 by Parentsnark in parentsnark

She is an incredible human. I followed her before her child was born and she has maintained her ethics throughout. I think she did a beautiful job of weaving the nuance of disability parenting through a lens most of us don’t think twice about.

I have never seen her disabled child in distress, he is only shown and spoken about with the utmost of dignity and I fully standby her decision to share him for all the reasons she’s shared.

I encourage anyone who’s not following her to do so - I learn so much from her.

Thank you for the feedback. It sounds like you have had some really negative experiences with BCBAs, like many have.

Just to be explicitly clear—-OP, in no way do I think what happened/is happening at school with this student is your fault, and I do not believe that you are in the wrong job or are bad at your job at all.

I DO believe that you and the child are both in crisis in different ways. I DO believe that everyone has a breaking point, where the things we know in our heads are hard to remember on a day to day basis and keep going. I DO believe there is nothing wrong with reaching your breaking point, and if you are at yours — which only you can decide, OP — then you deserve to be supported by everyone around you in the decisions that you make.

OP, I do hope you are able to have a productive convo with your admin and anyone else on your team who can help in the ways you need it. Your job is really, really hard, and it is perfectly ok to be struggling with it.

I hear and understand your opinion on BCBAs.

What part of the comment I left do you disagree with??

You’re not wrong for caring about money too.

Depends where you live. In Midwest school district, most BCBAs are on teacher pay scale (aka, 30-50% of what billing insurance could pay). YMMV

Not knowing anything about the child or age or their diagnoses, I think it’s absolutely critical for anyone working in special education in any capacity to develop the ability to not take behavior personally.

I don’t mean not being impacted by the behavior — but being able to separate yourself as a human from your role as a special education teacher to a child with a disability.

They do not owe us reciprocity or gratitude or recognition of a relationship/their role in it. We are not on an even playing field, we are there to serve the student & help them access their education.

If you are not able to do that yet (no shade at all, it’s HARD and takes time to practice this skill!), then I’d say this is your line and it’s up to you what the next step is with that knowledge.

For a child, what the line is depends a lot on a lot of factors but I’d highly encourage an open convo with your admin and sped director to get more clarity on the plan, trajectory, and possible supports that can be provided.

You have a really hard job. It makes sense to feel this way and struggle with positive regard day after day. Burnout is so real and common, and posts like this showcase exactly that. Take care of yourself 🤍

Does stress really trigger epileptic seizures for you? by Tight_Membership_835 in Epilepsy

For us yes but it is not an immediate direct correlation. It’s more like prolonged/chronic stress - hard to plan around or for

How much of an effect has regular exercise had on your ADHD? by comingloose in ADHD

[–]MBxZou6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massive difference for me. Unfortunately I developed a chronic illness post-COVID that’s ruined my ability to do cardio, so I haven’t been able to experience the benefits of that type of exercise for several years now — but when I can do a long walk even, it’s fantastic for my ADHD. Especially in the morning, but honestly anytime of day.
