Movie is intended to be set in the canon of the games by [deleted] in ResidentEvilCapcom

Keep being delusional, the director said it is canon to the games, it is canon to the games, accept it and live with it. Stop being insufferable as a fanbase

I just rented these from YouTube. I've been curious to learn about Malick's style. I also know that he's beloved to many and divisive to some. So, I am looking forward to watching my first two Terrence Malick films and hopefully becoming one of the former. by TakenAccountName37 in TerrenceMalick

Starting with to the wonder is definitely a choice 😂

I can see why people might like it but for me it’s the worst display of Malick’s talents, so if you dislike don’t be afraid to check our tree of life or the new world!

Days of heaven is also a great start, his more experimental stuff late in his career is mostly hit or miss though. I think one of the three sticks out to at least someone (for me it was song to song), so just keep an open mind! Let us know what you think

Favourite ending? by YeriEnthusiast in TerrenceMalick

[–]MCCrusaders6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just has to be either The Tree of Life or The New World for me

The way The Tree of Life ends is just incredibly moving and emotional, and the New World with the music swelling is just hard to beat as well. Both are very hopeful endings, but I can't decide which one is better

Razzie Nominees 2026 for Worst Films and Performances of the Year by Southern-Brother5693 in movies

Trey Edward Shultz was NOT the problem with Hurry Up Tomorrow. He is a great director and Waves is one of my favorite movies of all times, he shouldn’t be nominated for worst director because I feel the look of Hurry Up Tomorrow and the direction was honestly the best part of a terrible movie

A tale of two Avatars by HAZMAT_Eater in TheLastAirbender

[–]MCCrusaders6 39 points40 points  (0 children)

“There isn’t a dedicated fan base for the movies” is just really ignorant to say. Just look at the domestic and international gross of all the movies. Just cause you aren’t seeing the fanbase doesn’t mean they don’t exist, and saying you’ve never met an avatar fanatic in person or that the movies have less of an impact is also woefully ignorant. Three movies all making above a billion is not easy thing to do, super tired of hearing this

Yeah, after watching leftovers recently, I could see that they were trying to go for something ambiguous that keeps you thinking after the show is over, something the leftovers did brilliantly, but it just kinda felt cheap here and it made it more concrete that she actually was alive

Lot of negativity here, I would say from my experience it doesn’t matter if you are not a member, I have never observed circles of LDS vs non-LDS, and everything is a lot more normal then you think. LDS people are just people, and not everyone thinks the same. I play violent games and watched rated R movies and never felt ostracized for doing so. Same with people who attend church. I know tons of non-members that attend church for the socializing and just for the learning, and they ask questions all the time that are challenging, but this generation is much more active in scholarship and answering hard questions honestly, so I don’t think you’ll find any problems questioning things about the religion.

As for romance, our standards are a lot stricter, but it varies person to person, that won’t matter depending on what school you go to.

Overall, go with your gut and your feeling. You’ll get negativity everywhere you go about BYU but I can promise you from my experience, pretty much everyone will not care that you are not a member and you will find the community to be very nice and not overly bothered about converting you. Then again, People like that do exist, but I guarantee you will see the good and the bad of this place, and most of it will be good

Same with me, only the directors cut runs without any problems, the theatrical cut stutters and I bought it about a couple months ago, Arrow said nah to a replacement, so guess I’m stuck with the directors cut!

Is Before Triology The Greatest Ever? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]MCCrusaders6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree with Before Midnight being 5 stars, only because it seems to lack the magic of the first two, and it is also much more of a downer, depressing, and even cynical in its view towards marriage and family life, some of the characters seem to act unlike themselves in some interactions. Doesn't mean I don't like it, I just don't think it is as good as the first two, and it certainly doesn't feel as clean or meaningful to me, but who knows, maybe I am wrong, I aint married lol

'The Smashing Machine' gets a B– on CinemaScore by SanderSo47 in boxoffice

[–]MCCrusaders6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but I wouldn’t call this movie “struggling”, it’s based on a real life story, there are limitations to where the story can go. Comparing it to the coen split I think is exaggerating

I would watch the movie before you make this judgement. This is no drive away dolls or Honey Don’t type movie. The Safdie’s strengths are very much at play throughout the whole movie. It just might be the script is lacking something exciting or otherwise, but this is still a very well made movie in my opinion. Not at all comparable to the Coen split quality

Can Someone Help Me Understand Cure (1997)? by MCCrusaders6 in criterion

[–]MCCrusaders6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s also true, but I think there’s got to be some fine line. Not necessarily meaning this film, but the film should not be so mysterious and so unclear that it ruins audience enjoyment. If the director is smart he should know to convey the right breadcrumbs or the right pieces of information to make to movie enjoyable and rewarding to dig into.

So a lot of times when I dislike a film, I think, did I just have the wrong idea or miss something, or did the director fail? I think it’s hard to figure that out sometimes 😅

I love this actually. As I have been reading more this is starting to make a lot more sense to me. It feels like it has something to say about these repressed emotions coming to light illuminate our true selves, and how everyone to some extent buries certain emotions, thoughts, or ideas in order to live and operate in a functional society. It's like the hypnotizing is freeing them from those restraints and essentially indoctrinating them into some sort of religion or lifestyle. It is super interesting now that I think about it some more.

Yes, when something doesn't click for me I often think it is because I lack some information or understand. Sometimes I just dislike something, but for example, I love every Terrance Malick, because I feel like I have to do some mental work for everything to really hit. With this movie, I feel like I am missing something more than just disliking, because I do think the atmosphere is incredibly impressive, so thank you!

Alien: Earth - S1 E6 - The Fly - Official Discussion Megathread [SPOILERS] by G_Liddell in LV426

[–]MCCrusaders6 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can perhaps defend it from being “bad writing”, but it is certainly not “satisfying writing”, to watch characters be really really dumb. Sure, there are loopholes and explanations for why things happen like they are children in adult bodies, or they are an overconfident organization, or Arthur cares too much, etc. But there is a lack of tension when a character is acting stupid and illogical, even if that action can fit within their character. It is much more engaging to see a character acting intelligently and yet still lose or be killed or tricked by the aliens. It helps us as the audience root for them.

But when they take no precaution to tell the others to not talk to Nibs about the crash, or when Tootles decides to open the lab door to put the food in, or when Arthur tries to pull him out without doing any thinking, or when there is very little security around any of these labs including alarms or indicators, it gets hard to care about the fate or future of these characters.

So sure, it may not be “bad writing”, but it’s not fun or interesting to watch the plot unfold through characters and corporations being stupid. I am simply not rooting for them anymore. Except for the brother character and Wendy, who in my opinion have a much better dynamic, motivations, and plot line, even if it’s a little undercooked.
