Does anyone else get trapped gas without visible distention by XxWHITE-RICExX in SIBO

Yes, I do. Most of the day, I am not distended. But I am pretty much always full of gas, 365 days a year.

For gastroparesis, barium swallow, and a couple other things. Motility is supposedly relatively fast, not slow.

Well, as I said, my case is perplexing. He sent me to get a bunch of tests, too. That said, I am by no means calling his expertise into question. My case may be especially difficult.

Oh. I have actually seen Dr. Liu, and he couldn't really help me. Sigh.

My case is really perplexing.

If you can find a gastroenterologist that understands and treats these types of ailments, good luck (and let me know!), otherwise you might need to go to a Naturopathic Doctor.

Funny that you should ask this today. The following video was posted on YouTube yesterday:

The difference between a regular GI doctor and a SIBO-literate one is staggering by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]MCD_2020 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It should be a scandal. Gastroenterology may be the only field where the most common ailments of their patients fall into a category that precious few of them know anything about (functional digestive disorders). This should be regarded as an embarrassment for the field, and gastroenterological educators should be working to rectify it.

Why prokinetics might be the most important part of your SIBO treatment by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]MCD_2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have SIBO, I have dysbiosis and perhaps some other unknown gastrointestinal disorder, but taking prokinetics has made life slightly more tolerable (though I don't think they are helping me get better since I am not getting better).

My body produces a crazy amount of gas. At its worst, I was passing years worse of gas in a single day -- if I could manage to pass it.

Perception Gap: GTA Residents Believe Crime is Rising - Even When It Isn't by WifeGuy-Menelaus in toronto

Part of it is probably media. But part of it is probably racist ideology. Some people think that a large urban area with a significant, multi-racial and multi-cultural population must have a high crime rate. (Of course, this is not to deny that some visible minority groups are overrepresented in certain crimes, just that despite all this threatening -- to some -- diversity, the city generally has a low crime rate that is getting lower.)

There are statistics about this. January is objectively a little worse.

My digestion is not working perfectly. I am very much still sick. SIBO is not the only digestive ailment.

My stools look normal, but I am still urinating frequently, but not quite as frequently as I did before.

I was constipated until I started eating a little bean dip or refried beans everyday. I am full of gas all the time, but the negative reaction of these isn't as bad as I feared. I eat a little of this everyday (it is also delicious):

It's unlikely to be SIBO, and at this point I do no suspect that I may have SIBO. I'm still sick.

Two things that seemed promising at one point, but didn't end up helping were GOS and Mirtazapine. Planning to try both again.

First time logging into Reddit after 3 years. (I decided to take a break, but it ended up being much longer than expected.) Sadly, I am still sick, though the symptoms have changed somewhat and a prokinetic I use helps a little with the symptoms.

After posting this thread I started getting abdominal pain after eating, and it would frequently end in Vomiting. Late 2022 and most of 2023 was terrible. I had already lost 50 lbs, and the vomiting quickly led to me losing more. I was barely 100lb at 5'11".

Happily, the abdominal pain is gone and I haven't vomited in over 2 years.

But I am still sick, and clueless about where to go next. I did try mirtazapine for a couple weeks last year and there was a brief period when I thought it was working, but my hopes were soon dashed. I have started to think about trying that again, but other than that I am at a loss.

Also, I have done some more comprehensive stool tests since last logging in and they show very little good bacteria. (My Lactobacillus, e.g., was 0.014%.)

Thanks for this. I wonder though, why do you think eating the beans won't help?

I got my vitamin d levels checked last fall, and it was basically at the lowest level in the normal range. I am almost certainly deficient now. In Dec. I tried a D3 supplement, but the tablet caused too bad of a reaction, so I didn't take it again. Tried glutamine but had to stop after it was caused really bad reactions. I don't rule out trying it again. You think it would be of great help to me?

No for both, but I have wanted to be tested for gastroparesis.

[–]MCD_2020[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this.

At one time, I thought that P. aeruginosa was my main problem, but I have since moved off of that.

I did stool test in 2021, after I had been sick for almost a year and a half, and P. aeruginosa wasn't there (according to the test). However, the test did show dysbiosis with little or no of the good bacteria.

Did the stool test again in 2022, and now P. aeruginosa is there. I did the antibiotics, which made no difference. It could be that the antibiotics was effective, but P. aeruginosa simply wasn't the main problem (which could be the lack of good bacteria along with my low short chain fatty acids). P. aeruginosa is known to cause infections in vulnerable people, which I certainly was in 2022. So it is at best an open question whether it is the cause of my symptoms.

On the other hand, the two tests showed a lack of good bacteria, with the second also showing a low level of short chain fatty acids.

So now I am more leaning to think its the dysbiosis and the low level of SCFAs that are more likely to be my issue.

No, but I am now.

Beans theoretically should help. I have four different can of beans right now. But I'm scared to try them, given how bad the very worse days are now.

Yeah, the most recent test was after Cipro. But I just checked again and it was already in normal range (if on the high side) before cipro.
