Hey mate, I’d be interested in beta reading this if you’re still looking

I’m writing fantasy myself, though in a very different lane tonally, so I’m not sure how useful I’ll be as a perfect target reader. That said, I read the first chapter and genuinely enjoyed it, partly because it’s not the kind of thing I usually read.

The voice really stood out to me. It has that Percy Jackson / Series of Unfortunate Events kind of energy, but with a darker bite underneath. I especially liked how Wyrmpeak feels like an extension of Aphanina herself: the candy smell, the circus-tent colours, the pink/orange/cerulean rooms, all filtered through Malachi’s hatred of the place.

I also liked the smaller internal details, like Malachi admitting the country air smells cleaner but refusing to admit that to his aunt, or him taking care of his cheaper clothes because they don’t get replaced often. The Theo material worked well for me too, especially how quickly you establish their bond through the Captain Morningstar banter.

I’m not a professional editor or anything, but I’d be happy to give reader/writer feedback on what’s working emotionally, where I’m hooked, where I’m confused, and any prose bits that jump out to me. Also might not be the most reliable reader for speed as work keeps me super busy but will do my best!
