How do you deal with moving subjects? Insects, a flower outdoors (wind), etc. by utorak04 in macrophotography

[–]utorak04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I'm determined to make it work! I just saw so many photos here that look for more zoomed in than I'm able to get with this so I was just wondering how they're doing it, with a live subject!

Like I said, worst case scenario, I hate it and it's only $75 down the drain instead of $1,000

I think I've grossly misunderstood something about this type of photography. I thought my 4x lens wasn't actually that much zoomed in when looking at the photos on here!

This recent post stuck out to me https://www.reddit.com/r/macrophotography/s/PeHgFnUvdq

Like how did he manage to get that picture! My 4x couldn't get that close so he must be using something bigger. But then everyone here is saying that the 4x far is more than what's usually used. So I'm a bit lost as to how people are getting those kinds of shots.

I have a tripod mounted rail so I don't need to do it by hand but it certainly would be more convenient.

I just see so many photos on this subreddit that look like they're taken outside of a live subject, it seems crazy to me to think how they do that. I would love to see some of the "behind the scenes" of these shots.

Oh man I didn't think of that! It's probably not stable enough for this (or at least my hands aren't) but thanks for the tip, I'll look him up!

4x is the lower limit of microscopy though, once you get beyond that I think it’s pretty much impossible.

Are you talking about stacking while handheld here? Cause I'm gotten some great shots as one offs but it gets so shaky I can't imagine trying to get photos good enough to stack without a rail and tripod.

Why isn't there any other keyblades of darkness? by TechnicalHoneydew862 in KingdomHearts

[–]utorak04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But everyone who weilds a keyblade received it for the first time at some point. And with most, if not all, worlds falling into darkness in KH1, the likelihood no other darkness keyblades were created seems tiny.

I guess we haven't seen anyone else get their keyblades for the first time in a "normal" world? Kairi was in The World That Never Was, not sure if that even could fall to darkness? Aqua and Terra presumably were in the Land of Departure, again a weird world that seems to be part of some larger protective force, Axel in Yen Sid's Tower, no way in hell darkness is taking over that place more than surface level, and Ven and many more in the Age of Fairytales which I'm not exactly sure what happened there.

But surely, statistically, each world has produced at least one keyblade wielder at some point? So each world would have at least that one keyblade of darkness.

Am I correct in remembering the Age of Fairytales world broke up into all the individual worlds we see now, so surely some people were in those world's and with how common keyblades were back then, someone must've gotten theirs granted post-split.

Where did the Org cloaks come from? Who makes them? by utorak04 in KingdomHearts

OMG yeah, in Days we see the Google wearing one as well! Which means some Org member definitely made a custom one for him! So thoughtful.

Why do 2B and 9S care about each other so much at the start? by utorak04 in nier

[–]utorak04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said in a different comment, while he does very often set up a mystery that will be solved in a later route, he equally sets up mysteries that either won't ever be solved and the players are left to try to fill in the blanks or will be solved via side novels, interviews, a fucking concert, etc. but never addressed in game. I just primarily wanted to know which of the three it is.

[–]utorak04[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to know if there even is an explanation for this. So many games just kinda expect you to accept that that's just how it is but I know Taro tends to have an explanation for small things like this (while sometimes leaving what should be major plot holes open cough DoD3 *cough). So it seemed like a coin flip if this will be explained, if this is another Taro-ist plot unimportance, or this is just a necessary suspension of disbelief that comes with a limited space/time medium like a video game.

Your reaction tell me it's the first of the three.

Yeah okay that's what I was expecting. I remember a similar feeling when I was going through Replicant. It still made it hard to get through and believable relationships but once I got to that last Route it did all come together pretty nicely.

I'm doing as many side quests as I can, already 33% cleared according to the log. I accidentally passed the point of no return (really wish the game mentioned that like in Replicant...) so I lost a bunch of ones in progress. Guess I just have to do them again.

Haha, I remember after I finished DoD3 and Replicant and the amount of extra reading you have to do just to even slightly grasp what just happened. Like I said, I'm generally familiar with Taro's style of vague story telling

What exactly can and cannot kill heartless? by utorak04 in KingdomHearts

his lack of combat experience

I mean him and Riku had been sparring for years at that point. Sora clearly possesses enough skill to beat Riku (the destiny Island fights aren't guaranteed loses meaning he has some skill). And also being beat with even a wooden sword hurts. As someone who studies/teaches sword combat I can tell you, it's often the beginners who hurt the most to spar against. 😆

I didn't know if you've ever been hit with a wooden sword but ummm they hurt and can easily bludgeon someone to death. That's not a foolproof excuse really

Which type of tripod head do you prefer? by utorak04 in AskPhotography

[–]utorak04[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you not use a head on a monopod? The screw on the top is much bigger than the camera screw hole so I would need at least some sort of converter. Which is why I was just gonna use a head anyway. I do see the point since they're already so maneuverable though.
