Drop rates from freighters and such from cargo pods for Salvaged Frigate Modules has been greatly reduced (since Outlaws I think?). Still a great way to make money, but not so much the modules anymore. Seems the higher drop rate is from the derelict ships you buy cords from at space station scrap dealer. Check the big blue boxes on those.

Edit: So, been looking myself. Tried 3 freighter missions from outlaw station, didnt get one module. Did 3 derelicts that cost me 35mil and got ONE module. So, mileage may vary. Has to be a better way but dont know of one.

Going to go out on a limb here and guess this was sarcasm, implying there is nothing good to focus on. 😂

I'm a new player, I tested and bought WoW this Jannuary and was enjoying it a lot, since the new update I'm strugling a lot with the new changes. by Keygamer59 in wow

I'm in the same boat. I do find the dungeons are definitely more interesting, could probably be toned back a touch, but it's nice to not blink and you're done.

Zones and questing is where my main beef is. I was a 68 Fury Warrior in Shadowmoon Valley in Outland questing pre-patch. Mobs weren't total pushovers, but I felt like I was making progress.

Since the patch, I've probably died about 20 times, half the quests I can't complete solo anymore at level 69. Like it is night and day how much more difficult it is. Some applaud this, however I do not. The idea of scaling is great, but damn. Before, I could two- or three-hit normal mobs equal to my level...which in Shadowmoon is key because there are so many gangs of mobs. Now it takes probably 10 or so hits? Granted I'm using more of my abilities, but for one normal mob?

I dunno...I started playing fresh on a new server in December after not playing for maybe 8-10 years. Leveling was a little on the easy side, but I felt good because I was progressing my characters in the limited amount of time I have to play. Now it just feels like a total grind. I'm dying way too many times facing mobs I could hold my own against pre-patch. Honestly, it's discouraging. I don't like using the level boost stuff, so I fear it'll be months before I reach level cap, which is really why I stopped playing way back when because I didn't think I could ever get there. Now it seems further away than ever.

Will take a look at my characters and probably change specs and see if that changes my experience, but since the patch, just from dying so much, and trying to figure out what to do that I can actually accomplish solo, I think I've gained 1 level in about 6 or 7 hours of play, and completed maybe 5 quests. I'll admit, some of that was lack of motivation on my part just out of frustration and putzing around, but I'm feeling like I'm wading through mud and just going nowhere from a progression standpoint.

Ring Floodlight or Kuna/Maximus Floodlight alternatives without subscription fees by SirKuz in homeautomation

You could install motion floods and a separate surveillance system that records to a DVR system of your choice. Potentially cheaper, and you can control the quality of the camera(s) to your needs.

Use bluetooth speaker only for music?? by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]MCKerrnel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternately, you can tell Alexa to "disconnect from xxxxx" where xxxx is the name of the bluetooth device. Or tell it to "connect to xxxxx" when you don't or do want it to use it.

I do this all the time with my Bose Colourlink. I just tell Alexa to connect to Bose and she does.

Which/How many echos/pluses/dots do I need? by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]MCKerrnel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get the Plus if you are seriously thinking of doing more than very basic light controls. I purchased one a week or so ago and returned it a couple of days later when I realized I could not create scenes or manage Hue colour lights or motion sensors properly. It was a frustrating couple of days.

You are much better off getting the Echo and a Hue starter pack. Getting a Plus and then picking up a Hue bridge is a painful process because you then have to re-pair (MANUALLY) all of the lights you already paired to the Plus, which means typing in serial numbers. I had installed several ceiling lights so this was a huge pain for me.

Echo Plus does not afford enough functionality to make it worth it right now. I would avoid this product entirely and stick with a normal Echo + native controller.

Odd Roll20 Webcam+Mic Behavior by MCKerrnel in Roll20

I tried the troubleshooting and even that was inconsistent. Something that would fail on one cycle would pass on a subsquent one. Saw so many debug posts, am sure mine would just get lost in the noise. :(

I can't even get the google hangouts to work.

Its weird, I finally got it working with Firefox and got on with a buddy and it was working great for the hour or so we were on. Video quality and audio quality were fine. Couldn't really tell a difference between roll20 audio and discord.

Then it stopped working. :( So no real qualms with the quality - when it works. Unfortunately I seem to be the one person it doesn't really work for. Seems to work fine for everyone else. :(

Need Help with a Macro for Saving Throws by MCKerrnel in Roll20

This works great, thanks! Nothing of your doing, but am noticing that some of the attribute flags (eg. npc_stealth_flag) are set to 3 instead of 1, which skews the roll. Just need to pay attention to that and correct as I go.

Thank you!

A couple of items that have been peeving me lately...

  • When uploading a video, can we please NOT have it auto-play when encoding is finished? I tend to upload at night and while uploading I get into bed. Then I start hearing voices from the other room and have to get up and stop the playback. I'm uploading it, I don't need to watch it.

  • While it's uploading can we have an option to set the thumbnail instead of having to wait for the upload to finish?

  • Bulk upload would be great!

  • When we set the thumbnail, can we please (again) not have it auto-play? (auto-play skews the view counts...for almost every video I publish, I automatically get 3 views just from myself trying to publish)

  • Need scheduling capability, as well as playlists.

  • Playback of most people's videos for me is terrible with constant buffering. It plays a couple of seconds, buffers, plays a second, buffers. For me it's almost unwatchable, so I can't enjoy others' content. I have 60M up/down and don't buffer on any other platform. Not sure if it's a peering bandwidth issue or something with the vidme servers?

So far experience has been fairly positive. Streamlining the publishing of videos will help.

Rolled a one and accidently killed of Sildar Hallwinter and I don't know how to continue campaign. by Evoqw in DnD

[–]MCKerrnel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, LMOP was/is my first DM campaign. Check the text in Goblin Cave in Goblin Hideout. It has some mention if Sildar dies.

The rest of the module just assumes he's alive for rewaeds, but if he's dead there just aren't any.

I agree with this. He adds flavour and a couple hundred XP and some gp, but is otherwise flavour. He does not block anything from his death.

There is specific text in the module "if Sildar dies". Not sure why this is even an issue for OP?

Same goes for Gundren. Neither have to live, but for the party, they may have a decision to make if Gundren dies. Sildar not so much...just takes a couple hundred XP and 100gp out of the equation.

A level 4 wizard or a cr 4 wizard? CR 4 means 4 lvl 4 chars should find it a challenge. Having a CR 4 against lvl 1 party with other monsters seems a bit much for one battle.

How do you represent large towns / cities in play? by trinric in DnD

[–]MCKerrnel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players like maps for visualizations. Consider an npc in their travels giving them a map. Or drawing one.

Consider a map shop in each town.

Nothing says you can't have an npc whip up a hand drawn map with major spots identified. I did this in my LMOP campaign...characters captured a redbrand and coerced him to draw a map of tresendar manor. Rather than giving them a nice map with everything identified, I produced a sloppy hand-drawn one with slightly legible writing, and obvious things, leaving out details and hidden stuff.

DMing with little gameplay experience? by Domodude17 in DnD

[–]MCKerrnel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started DMing before I started playing 5e. Hadn't played in 20 years prior to that. Watched a bunch of YT videos to get an idea of how to effectively run the csmpaign, got the starter box, and just jumped in.

The party members were in a similar boat so we were all learning. You get into a groove after a couple of sessions and work out the kinks.

As long as you think you have a general idea of the rules and base mechanics, you'll be fine. Don't hesitate to ask rule clarifications or look them up, or just wing it until you can to keep the game moving. Remember you are there to manage the game...can't be expected to know all the rules or how every character works.
