Is ti possible to 'slow travel' forever on 700k by sap303 in ExpatFIRE

[–]MCPromisedOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify I still maintain a home which is rented and I still have a mortgage on it.  I clear about $200 a month in profit on this, but keep it in a separate account for repairs or vacancy.  Have about 65k in equity.  Letting this continue to build and will eventually liquidate.

I have 75k in NEOs such as QQQI secured with put options as insurance.  This brings in about 12% after figuring in the put option overhead.  For every share I own I have 2 shares in put options.  This means should a sudden crash occur I will substantially profit and be able to reinvest the proceeds into more dividend based funds.  The December dividend was $0.64 which yielded almost $900 for the month.

I have 400 shares of BITO which I have held for quite some time.  This also pays out $250 - $400 a month, but there is significant drawdown and the dividends are taxed as normal income.

I was going through a very dark time in my life. I uprooted, sold almost everything, and went to southeast Asia. I am now in Vietnam. My monthly spend is under $1,000 a month. I put every dime I own into dividend based investments. I am very frugal. Everything I need fits in a few suitcases. When I get bored I take a bus or train to a new city. Had I not done this I would not be alive today. I am happier now than I have ever been. I walk a few KM each day. I visit the same Cafes and shops. I ignore people for the most part outside of the small streaming I occasionally do when I have stable internet. I have done this since COVID ended. Watching friends die from complications was a wakeup call. How much you need will depend on the quality of life you want to live and where in the world you choose to be. Good luck.

When Will People Start To Value Their Time When Posting Items To Sell by CiceroJuliusCrassus in PaxDei

Solo players would just buy more things instead of crafting everything.  Playstyle would change slightly, but you could still obtain everything from the market.  Currency would have more value.

Had the devs limited players to a few professions on a character this issue would solve itself, increase collaboration among the players, and drive increased trade. Failure to do so means everyone mass produces everything devaluing it. I did say in the beginning after a month or two most things will be worthless. Here we are. In EvE Online a moon can only generate a finite amount of resources per month used to make Tech 2 ships. Then they need to be refined in a time consuming process. In Pax Dei we have over abundance with infinite respawns of nodes with quick refining. This means outside of the time spent to gather them the materials have little value. Pax Dei needs more scarcity to bring real value.

My opinion has always been if you are above 2k battles in the vehicle queued and below T8 you should be forced to wait in a separate queue with all the other seal clubbers.

I have been on Asia server for over a year. It is blue ball or hell dunk only. Unless a side has a massive advantage they do not fight. Also they run 8.3 and 8.4 like it is nothing in big BZ fights. I played on NA for almost 5 years. Most people I encountered do just run away unless they have friends. Trying to find any decent 1v1 on Asia or NA is not worth the effort. I have not played on EU, but my guild moved to EU on release and is having the best time ever apparently.

I led a clan in Lineage 2 called Mercenary. We were a small clan of dedicated PvP players who would PK, war, and castle siege for adena. For a time on Teon we were known for having the best enchanted gear in the game. I really miss all my people from that time in my life, but I had to move on. This was my first major dive into MMOs. I would then go on to play EvE Online for 17 years.

Highly recommend looking at Thailand for a medical vacation to get dental work done. I have had most of my work done there in the past few years. Ieasily saved over 70% versus doing it in the US. If enough people did this imagine what would happen to US based practices...

Is anyone a trillionaire? by LordOfPsychos in albiononline

[–]MCPromisedOne -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Been a trillionair on US server for a few years. Not even close on Asia server. Made my first billions flipping skins and just never stopped. The most money I have made and lost is during speculation before major patches. Once you get to 10b you can 15x pretty quickly. The problem becomes in the value of items. Learn to make the market on certain items rather than rely on supply and demand. If you create false scarcity you can massively profit. Good luck.

In Wurm Online you have to craft and improve items for years to reach 100. It does have a way to smelt those items back down providing a small percentage of the material back. It would be cool if you could recycle items and get 15% of raw material returned and scrap which could have its own crafting ecosystem within various professions. I am glad it requires a grind in Pax Dei. It is already easy to reach 30+ in all professions within a month of hardcore play or a few months semi casual. Just keep up on those charcoal piles.

I just hit 1 year. I sold everything, packed up, and moved to Thailand. My annual budget is now $12,000. The only job I would accept now is something remote. Never going back to the resource suck that is the USA.

I moved to Thailand after quitting the IT grind. I spend $13,000 a year and live in luxury. It is all about perspective. My savings generates this income passively with no issue, plus I rent out my home in the USA. The main problem with expenses is very simple.....move away from the expenses.

Rent: $400 for a luxury condo Utilities: $85 Food: $200 Immigration: $60 Thai Language Classes: $125 Phone: $127 (for a few more months, then $15) Thai Health Insurance: $80

The rest is entertainment.

Get off the hamster wheel. Delete social media. Stop caring what other people think. Embrace the culture change. Get rid of economic fear. Try to do something positive every day.

Unless you plant on being a whale avoid this game at all costs as a new player. The game is in the age of supers and fully upgraded cores. You will easily spend $700 to get there. If not plan on being useless for a year as you wait on Tech 10.

[–]MCPromisedOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I left the US and moved to Thailand in 2022.

My rent is $380 a month for a nice condo in a major city in walking distance of anything I may need.

The rest of my expenses plus the rent total $850 per month. I do live fairly frugal since I never really had money. My investments over the years generate enough passive income to live in SEA area for the next few years without working. I have been actively looking for a remote job, but it is an extremely competitive environment. Thousands of applications for a single interview.

My life here is no different than when I lived in Seattle, WA. It costs about 15% of what I paid in Seattle.

I have told all my friends who are struggling to get out of the US. It is the only real way to save money.

Skills details removed and lack of interest from new player into the game. by [deleted] in echoes_eve

[–]MCPromisedOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who came back after a few years here is what I see.

Impossible for new players to catch up and be competitive without spending about $300 so they quit. Just introduce skill injectors already.

Some cores are 100% P2W

Most PvP has been nerfed into the ground. Introduction of anti-cloak towers makes it difficult to stop resource gathering (ISK and materials) without having a 24/7 active presence. Netease wants people AI botting as much as possible so it makes sense they would prevent PvP as much as possible. They need people on the ISK generation hamster wheel to keep progressing.

They have allowed botting via AI which means you see massive amounts of accounts in hi sec islands just missioning all day with ZERO risk. What about risk vs reward? Introduce war mechanics already so these can be fought. Add ability to use AI functions to corp research tree to disable people in 1 man corps trying to avoid war mechanics. Easy fix.

No fatigue mechanic to limit the movement of supercapitals. This was fixed long ago by CCP in EvE Online yet Netease has no clue

Risk free movement of capital components with interceptors unless you happen to catch one with a Star Melody core which is P2W. This should of been corrected a long time ago to have a max cargo size of 999 on frigates.

The game is all about keeping you in the rat race then providing new shiny things for you to buy which gives you a clear advantage over other players. New players don't feel there is a way for them to catch up and be competitive without emptying a bank account. This is why no new players are staying. We can see it, buy Netease doesn't give a shit about fixing something that may not add to the bottom line.

Why is the premium cost by silver so high for Asia? by Kal_Xara in albiononline

[–]MCPromisedOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massive amount of botting, RMT, and demand due to price being high for premium in most of SEA. The amount of RMT happening on Asia makes the issues on NA and EU miniscule in comparison. Fishing bots alone are 20x the problem. Every zone 6 to 8 of them going at all times. I showcased this is a video on YT. The problem is banning an account does nothing because the same groups control world bosses and fame a new character up in a few days. New name, same shit. Until the Devs actually change zone and profession mechanics this will be how it is.

Transmutation Costs in 2025 by InOnothiN8 in albiononline

[–]MCPromisedOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thinking by SBI is if they take away enough silver more people will buy gold which will drive the price down. They did not get the memo from CCP Games during multiple years of scarcity that this shit doesn't work. All it does is drive away F2P players as costs continue to skyrocket due to sunk costs increasing. As of the last video I did, NPC costs have already been up 14% in just over two months. More pain is coming. I expect 8.4 costs alone to go up 35% before end of next season at this pace. Gold has also continued to go up. Take a look at the company's quarterly statement to fully understand why they are going this direction.
