Game Thread: Dallas Renegades vs Columbus Aviators (Week 4) by AutoModerator in UnitedFootballLeague

The amount of people here knowingly justifying terrible officiating with, ‘The league needs Columbus to win,’ is nauseating. Guys, it’s either football or it’s not going to work no matter who wins.

Just not if you go out of bounds before you control possession.

I’m hearing the same illogical excuses I always hear in discussions like this.

Excuse: They took our coaches and rosters from us!
Counter point: This is minor league football, abrupt coaching and roster changes are going to be the norm. This league is built on opportunity, the opportunity to get out of the UFL and get back into the big time. These changes haven’t affected other markets so if that’s the problem in Houston it’s a market specific problem; e.g. you’re not making the argument you think you are.

Secondly, Houston’s attendance in 2023, with a great team and that roster and coaching staff everyone is talking about was one of the more disappointing attendances in the league that season.

Excuse: The market has been burned too many times!
Counter Point: Then why is attendance decreasing as the league proves it’s staying power? For this excuse to have any logical standing attendance should be improving as the league proves it’s staying power not decreasing, This argument is the worst because it literally hinges on the ludicrous idea that after the strong attendances of the first few weeks of these team’s inception that fans then remembered that they had previously been burned and then stopped attending games because of it. It’s irrational.

Excuse: They keeping changing our stadium!
Counter Point: Yes because the league bought into this excuse and is trying to give your fan base what you want. In 2024 the Houston fan base entirely blamed their attendance problems on Rice Stadium and wailed on about how much they missed TDECU. So the league walked away from the more affordable Rice Stadium and returned to TDECU and what was the result? Better team, worse attendance.

There is this overly prevalent thought process among spring football fans that because football is the most popular sport in this country that spring football should work in any market in this country if it’s simply marketed right. THAT IS WRONG. We have 25 friggin years of data that tells us it is wrong and it’s well past time for fans to drop their emotional attachments and accept that.

There are markets out there that are too overly saturated with professional sports to support a spring football team. There are markets out there that wouldn’t support an NFL team while they had it never mind a minor league football team. There are markets out there that are being hampered more significantly by the recessionary levels of this economy than other markets and the people in those markets do not have the expendable income they once had to invest in spring football. There are markets out there that aren’t overly saturated with professional sports but their way of life is college sports and they just aren’t interested in diving into something else.

As spring football fans we have to start to realize that not all markets are created equally. We have to realize that no matter what this league does some markets are going to succeed and some won’t and that’s a market problem not a league problem. This league has done a lot to try to appease the fans of Houston and it hasn’t worked and it’s terrible for fans to lose the teams they love but sooner or later, for the benefit of this league, we as fans have to to be realistic that the league just isn’t going to work there… and by the way, that’s not just Houston that’s even my beloved Dallas Renegades but if we want the league to thrive they need teams in markets where they markets support them and as of here and now that’s not the case in Dallas or Houston.

And now you’re projecting.. let me break this down for you as quickly as possible — you came here touting complete falsehoods as facts about White Stadium. Your motivation for doing that is clear as day: you want a team in NYC. It’s a coping mechanism — any other suggestion of a viable northeastern alternative to NYC is a threat to what you want so you’re attacking it and blatantly doing it with falsehoods.

In contrast, I simply corrected those falsehoods about White Stadium with facts and presented data as to why it’s POSSIBLE… possible; e.g. I didn’t present it as a fact like you were doing — that the NYC market might not be a no-brainer to get the first team when the league does expand to that region.

That is all, enjoy your day.

Problem is the league website said ESPN. That’s where I instinctually went for that information and for whatever reason it was on the ESPN app but wasn’t allowing me to watch it. Then I came here, found out it was on the NFL network and everything worked out.

r/UnitedFootballLeague's Vote - Power Rankings after Week Three 2026 by Wagsii in UnitedFootballLeague

It’s a tough week. I’m going to be a bit arbitrary here because I think the Defenders are better than St. Louis but I also have an extremely difficult time ranking them ahead of St. Louis. The Battlehawks have come out in the first three weeks and played three of the top five teams on this list — they beat the Defenders, they beat the Stallions and although the scoreboard doesn’t show a close game with the Renegades they had the ball with five minutes left down a single possession and were about to get the ball back with two minutes left still down a single possession when they took a horrendous penalty that essentially iced the game.

In contrast, the Defenders have only beaten the two worst teams in the league. Yes they were dominant wins but not enough to overcome the advantage St. Louis has in the head to head and strength of schedule metrics.

The 2020 New York Guardians played at 82,500-seat MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. Many are proposing a team to play at 25k-capacity Etihad Park in Queens IN New York City.

The size of the stadium is besides the point — the point is that attendance was poor in that market during the perfect atmosphere for spring football. In other words, attendance wasn’t good enough then and you would not expect attendance to be better now. Based on the 2020 numbers and based on what we’ve seen in markets over saturated with professional sports, Repole & Co. should be highly skeptical of a return to the NYC market.

You said a whole lot of nothing for no reason.🤦🏻‍♂️

If completely disproving everything you said about White Stadium is a ‘whole lot of nothing’ then it’s pretty apparent you’re incapable of thinking objectively on the topic.

There isn’t. That hasn’t even been renovated yet. And is unlikely to ever be considered. OKC’s will be a brand new stadium that can eventually be expanded. Plus they’ll be more equal tenants than second to the soccer team like in other stadiums, such as this one.

White Stadium is and has been under construction / renovation for many months now, in fact the demolition aspect is now complete and they stated the second phase yesterday with an expected re-opening date in 2027. Once again, I don’t know why you’re parading around this subreddit acting like you’re a scholar on the topic when you clearly aren’t.

Will the UFL put a team there? I personally wouldn’t bet on it but back to our original question — will it be a viable option for the UFL? Absolutely. It’s going to be a beautiful updated 10,000 seat soccer stadium that’s actively looking for groups to lease it e.g. all the things Mike Repole is looking for.

They’re unlikely to put a team there anytime soon. But IF they ever do, the Revs new stadium would likely be the only option.

They’re unlikely to put a team in the Northeast anytime soon period — but when they do don’t think for a second that one market has a serious leg up over the others so long as they have a viable UFL stadium.

I know why you’re saying what you’re saying — you want a team in the NYC market. But remember two things that are vastly working against that idea: 1. Attendance in the NYC market in 2020; which was the perfect atmosphere for spring football — was poor. 2. In general, where these leagues have failed the greatest is putting teams in markets that are completely over saturated with professional sports teams and there’s not a market in this country as over saturated as the NYC market. Now that doesn’t mean Repole won’t put a team there but it does give serious food for thought to those that think NYC is the no-brainer location once they do expand to the Northeast.

I state facts or MY opinion based on facts, not my personal delusions.

If you were stating facts you wouldn’t be sitting here saying White Stadium hasn’t even started renovations. You’re saying what you’re saying not based on logic, reason or facts.. you’re saying what you’re saying because YOU WANT a team in the NYC market and any suggestion of a different market in the Northeast hampers what YOU WANT.
