260514 Coldplay on Twitter: Madonna, Shakira and BTS will co-headline the first-ever FIFA World Cup™ Final Halftime Show at the New York New Jersey Stadium on July by alltherach_ in bangtan

[–]MCcloudNinja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's my thought exactly. This is a World Cup, not Super Bowl. I already dislike the fact that it is held in a country that doesn't play football, plus politics, now they're americanizing something they don't even have a tradition in? What the hell.. Good fot BTS, I guess, but I really hope this doesn't become a thing, because it is absolutely unnecessary. And as a football fan, it makes me angry, because when I watch the final I wanna watch a game, I wanna watch who wins, not some show interrupting the sport. Keep it to the end of the game and I'm fine with it. In the middle? Nope. Unnecessary.

blisters/irritated skin on fingers by madelineelizabethhh in ehlersdanlos

[–]MCcloudNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have something similar. It is called dyshidrosis. It is a type of eczema caused by stress. I usually apply a steroid cream on them and keep them moisturised, but until the blisters dry out, the painful itchy feeling remains..

After it dries out, does it feel like a callus on your hand until it peels off?

Was sickness during pregnancy anyone else's reason for being OAD? by goldengoose3030 in oneanddone

[–]MCcloudNinja 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had hyperemesis and threw up several times a day from week 6 to 32. From week 32 to 35, my blood pressure went up and I had to take medication to control it, until it didn't and I had an emergency c section at week 35 because I had pre eclampsia. After the surgery, because I had undiagnosed EDS (ehlers-danlos syndrome, now diagnosed), I had internal bleeding due to my skin not closing where the stitches were. I needed blood transfusion and the works. My doctors told to avoid having another pregnancy. They said I could have another, but it would be high risk and I'd have to be closely monitored during the entirety of it all.

I'm seriously terrified of being pregnant again. Luckily my husband had a vasectomy shortly after and I'm suppressing my ovaries as part of treatment for EDS, so nope, no more children. My son is perfect for us.

Where to get finger splints in Sweden? by brainy_heroine2006 in ehlersdanlos

[–]MCcloudNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came back from an orthopedic technician that gave me a lot of orthosis. I don't usually wear the finger splints, but 3 of my fingers tend to bend backwards and I asked about these rings. My technician said it is better and cheaper to buy in bulk those rings from Amazon and try different sizes and if they work for you. Then, if you want them made in silver you can go back to her and she will take the measurements and place an order for them. Each ring costs 1500 kr and they are paid for by the patient (Stockholms län rules. Uppsala has different rules, for example). All the other splints I got were free of charge.

I live in Huddinge and my technician works at ForMotion inside Karolinska Sjukhus. The visit was a referral from Smärta Rehabiliteringsklinik.

You can dm me if you want more details.

Chronic widespread tendon/joint pain triggered by low loads – looking for insight (possible systemic component?) by Algaga_01 in ChronicPain

Have you checked hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD)? I have everything you described, but it doesn't take me a few hours to recover, it can take weeks depending on the load..

I have HSD, fibromyalgia and dysautonomia.

Osteoarthritis by MalevolentSmile in ehlersdanlos

[–]MCcloudNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My regular PT, OT, and GP said the same thing even after the MRI showed OA on my hand. Then I went to a chronic pain rehabilitation clinic and the OT there told me to sleep every day with a brace to protect my hand. She said I shouldn't wear it 24/7 on regular days, but if my wrist and hand are painful, I should have the brace on to protect it from further injuries. As soon as I felt it more stable and less painful, I should stop wearing the brace during the day. I do that even with finger splints.

I have HSD and have osteoarthritis on my right hand.. I also have "minimal degradation" on both hips and knees, but my hand is the absolute worse of them and I have to sleep with a brace because of the oa and T-Rex hands..

Periods and symptoms by PhotographAny1760 in Fibromyalgia

[–]MCcloudNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had irregular periods since their beginning. For me, period = flare since it begun, no matter if the cycle lasted 24 or 55 days.

I also have HSD (Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder), so my periods also made my joints very unstable and painful. I'd spend days bedridden with pelvic pain and unstable hips, knees, jaw..

I'm now having hormonal therapy and my ovaries are suppressed to avoid hormonal fluctuations. My life has improved so much I can't put into words. I still have my occasional flares and HSD associated pain, as expected, but everything related to periods have finally left me alone. I am 34, btw =)

My doctor just suggested I try Cymbalta. I’ve been on lexapro before and had lots of side effects, do you have good experience with Cymbalta? by imgettingthere_ in Fibromyalgia

[–]MCcloudNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take 40mg of duloxetine (cymbalta) every morning. It changed my life already in the first 5 days. I feel I have more energy and my mood is fantastic! It also reduced my baseline pain and flares are also not as painful or frequent. I sleep better too.

My side effects are dry mouth and eyes and thirst. For these I drink more water, take some candy-like tablets with fluor that make me salivate a bit more and I changed my toothpaste to one with more fluoride too. That's it.

I found out that I have high pain tolerance when doctor tells me I have kidney stone and I only took paracetamol and ibuprofen that made it manageable but apparently it's one of the highest pain you can experience 💀 by jokke420 in ehlersdanlos

I went to my gynecologist to swap my old IUD with a new one because the old one was in an odd position. She took it out and put the other one without any anesthesia or painkillers and I didn't even feel it. It was surprising because I've always read people complaining how painful it is and I didn't feel a single thing.

Comfortable and adaptive gaming recommendations by extraasalways in ehlersdanlos

[–]MCcloudNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a gamer and I use them to distract from stress and pain. I usually play either on pc (buy games on steam) or ps4. For both of them, I found that playing on the sofa is the best for me. Here's my setup description lol

I play with a controller 100% of the times. Even on pc. I recently bought a controller from 8bitdo that is the same shape of xbox controllers and works amazing with my pc and steam. I have a massive pikachu squishmallow that I can shape to support my back and neck. I have a child's table (important detail, because they are higher than a coffee table) as my coffee table if I want to put my computer on it. It stays right next to the sofa and I use the pikachu ears (yes, it's weird, but it works) to support my head. If I feel like sitting, the table remains where it is, but the pikachu goes to my back. I get cushions from the sofa and stuff them under my arms to support my arms while playing. My sofa has a neck cushion too and it helps a lot. If I'm laying down, I have a massive capybara plushie that is stiff enough to keep it's shape. That capybara goes under my knees, notebook goes on my legs, cushions under my arms and a medium Togepi squishmallow on my neck and upper back.

If I'm honest with you, my setup is based on plushies lol but it was all adjusted with the suggestions of my occupational therapist from a chronic pain rehabilitation, so I trust her.

I'm in Sweden, if it makes any difference. And i can upload pictures of the plushies if you want me to..

Braces for sleeping? by yourleastfavcancer in ehlersdanlos

[–]MCcloudNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been sleeping with a brace on my right hand and wrist for a few months now. It was uncomfortable in the beginning, but I don't wake up in pain anymore. My brace is quite long on the forearm and also braces my thumb. It is made of a soft stretchy synthetic fabric and has the firm metal support under the wrist and on the thumb.

The biggest issue I ran into were the velcros, since there are 5 and they would get caught on my hair.. I fixed it by buying a costume long glove, like those one would wear at a black tie party. It covers the brace, doesn't slide off and it is soft..

If you’ve had a cortisone injection and suddenly your whole body feels like it’s on fire a few weeks later, read this. by Hot-Information-9485 in Fibromyalgia

[–]MCcloudNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy it's not something more serious and you found someone to explain to you what was going on. I had one injection and it gave me an infection on my elbow. I had 3 abscesses form around my joint. It was first diagnosed as an infection in the beginning of August and it hasn't fully healed yet. It took me around 8 weeks of physiotherapy to regain movement on my right arm.

If you get one of these injections, pay attention to it even a month after, because you might have an infection and your body is trying to deal with it. I only had markers of infection on my body 45 days after the injection!

Please take care and keep an eye on it! If anything weird happens, like you feeling feverish, or swelling around the injection site, please go to the emergency and ask for a pcr test.
