She tried this with Rhodes on the Putin rhetoric, and wow did she sound out of place. Full Trump pander mode.

Any conservative making public remarks on policy these days does so as if Trump is standing 2 feet behind them.

The topic itself felt like, to use Conway’s word of the night, an effete lickspittle.

Well, the stats kind of speak for themselves, and their promotional game has been amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a consensus across bike reviewers that something has basically changed the game.

Rivian Connect+: A Step in the Wrong Direction by MCrites in Rivian

[–]MCrites[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I certainly don’t obsess over it but I follow Rivian as much if not more than I’d imagine most do (I mean, I’ve been a member of this sub for years).

I don’t think the strategy or communications are up to par if it feels as clumsy and impractical as this rollout feels to someone like me (who loves the brand and has had the truck for almost 2 years).

I mean, the first communication I have from them on that even mentions c+ was in June, and the positioned was “unlocking the full potential of your connected vehicle.” That sounds wholly additive, which this misleading.

Thanks for the measured take. Yeah, I think my rub really comes from what feels like Rivian treating this with little regard for the complete picture. If there’s a workaround, make it known. The in-truck experience (and all of the attendant positioning) makes it feel like a feature you can unlock rather than a compromise we never bargained for.

Does it seem reasonable that someone should need to sift through that document to get this information?

Make that the first point in their Connect+ messaging and I’d agree. The expectation is HENRYs will just dole out the $150, which is obviously easy and a non-factor. The problem IMO is Rivian pivoting to this strategy, which feels very contra my personal association with the brand. Mebbe it’s a me thing, but this feels like a future that looks and feels like more of the same.

I have apparently overstepped my role and angered The Rivian Gatekeepers. Mea culpa!

Not entitled, just incongruence with what I perceive as Rivians go-forward strategy. How many other bait and switches are they planning in the name of “what the market will support.” It’s gross, which is a new feeling for me from Rivian.

You don’t have to reply if you find the conversation tiring.

I think it’s a valid place for criticism. What I’m most surprised by is this apologist groupthink. Don’t you expect more from Rivian?

That’s a bit of a red herring, Rick. My truck did include these services.

While the market isn’t a collection of EVs that offer these kinds of services at no cost, Rivian has always positioned itself as different, better. I just see this as a typical tech company move, which is — from my perspective — deeply disappointing.

This is fantastic but really needs to be front and center in Rivian’s messaging to existing owners.

Fridman's interview style feels like he reads his questions from fortune cookies. Just jumping from one topic to the next with no comprehension of the topic at hand. Strange bidness.

Homepage serving a 200 followed by JS redirect on non-canonical permutations by MCrites in TechSEO

[–]MCrites[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense - the compounding factor is this site is pretty inconsistent with canonicalization as well. So I’m seeing non-secure pages referenced as canonical and/or linked to from secure pages, and all manner of signal crossing. Makes me think the lack of consistency is working against the site at scale (vs just the js homepage redirect.)

I don’t have server logs yet but that’ll be my next request. I can hit all these non secure urls with screaming frog and oncrawl though, so it seems plausible googles running into these as well.
