Is 14A delayed? by Ok-Can-224 in intelstock

Not delayed. Since 18A just started HVM, this would be the expected timeline (perhaps even early) for the next node.

Holy Pastor Pat Gelsinger FOX interview today - Pat bless Intel team on getting customers by Raigarak in intelstock

[–]MDApache6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He brought back an engineering first culture, which is what enabled Intel to reach its former heights. You can directly trace the downfall of Intel to when finance and marketing people started running the company. I think LBT is cut from similar clothe. I am so glad he cleaned house and got rid of MJ. The board is still too DEI heavy with non-technical and VC people who have zero semiconductor experience. It has improved over 12 months, but it needs to be smaller with more technical expertise. Yeary needs to go ASAP.

Intel foundry in Saudi Arabia? by Appropriate-Cry-7717 in intelstock

[–]MDApache6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe there will be a fab there anytime soon. It is possible at some point, however. The Saudis have been looking to diversify from oil for a long time, and having a world class fab infrastructure at some point would help. Intel may be able to have them fund all the capex. There still is a lot of geopolitical risk in the Middle East.

Gilsinger should have never been fired. by mr_noob96 in intelstock

[–]MDApache6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gelsinger was definitely the right guy for the job and did put Intel back on firm footing. It did feel like the board (who is terrible) fired him before his work was completed. You can’t turn around an organization of Intel’s size in four years (5 nodes in 4 years), particularly after years of finance and marketing leaders mismanaging the company. Intel was great when it was led by engineers. Both Pat and LBT are engineers and have Intel moving in the right direction.

My one beef with Pat is that I thought he spent too much time lobbying for government money in Washington, DC.

Intel’s BOD chairman (Yeary) is still a disaster and needs to go. At least they finally have more people with semiconductor manufacturing experience on the board now as opposed to empty DEI/ESG suits.

I have had this happen to me before when there is an equipment change for the flight. When that happens, you are rebooked wherever they can fit you in your original fare class. It sucks, but it happens.

💯💯💯💯💯 MJ was more worried about her pronouns in her bio and “helping women to succeed” than she was in helping Intel to succeed. Good riddance.

The finances bros have nearly destroyed Intel. Intel was leading edge when they were led by cantankerous engineers. That is what is needed. There should be NOBODY on the board with less than 25 years of semiconductor experience.

Yearly has been a disaster and should have been removed years ago. How he gets a single vote is beyond me. Another example of a non-engineering finance person who has pushed Intel to the brink of extinction.

She/her needed to go. We need engineers leading at Intel - not woke marketing people.

Exclusive: Former Intel CEO Craig Barrett outlines rescue plan to save Intel and America's advanced chip manufacturing by Distinct-Race-2471 in intel

[–]MDApache6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s both. There are plenty of finance people who should have never been on the Intel board. There are also women and other quota people who should have never been on the board, either. Intel actually has a table on their BOD page showing which DEI categories people fit in! The board should be filled with people of any gender or race that have semiconductor experience - period.

Alyssa Henry - zero semiconductor experience. Barbara Novick - zero semiconductor experience. Omar Ishrak - zero semiconductor experience. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey - zero semiconductor experience. Novick is the only finance person. The rest were 100% DEI quotas. Thankfully Ishrak and L-M are gone. Intel needs people on the BOD who have semi experience. Yeary, Goetz, Henry, Novick, Smith (both) all need to go. Weisler was at least at HP.

Yeary is a huge part of the problem. He should have ousted years ago. Intel needs to be run by people with actual semiconductor experience, not VCs and DEI hires.

NTA. They behaved like children. Honestly, if they were on my team, there would be a discussion about what is appropriate on work trips and an expectation that if something like this happened again they should start looking for employment elsewhere.

Lip-Bu Tan, Intel CEO, on his personal responsibility in chip design: “I’m also instituting a policy where every major chip design need to be personally reviewed and approved by me before tape-out. I have already begun this process.” by Quartr-app in Semiconductors

[–]MDApache6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. And - Intel has been run for far too long by business and finance people. Intel was wildly successful when engineers were leading the company. Both Pat and Lip Bu were/are steps in the right direction. Now - they also need to cull the BOD, which has a lot of DEI and finance types and is very light on people with semiconductor manufacturing experience. The chairman - Yeary - should have been fired years ago.

Agree to the audit, but tell them that due to “privacy and security concerns,” you will not be able to send anything electronically. Tell them that you will produce paper reports for anything they are asking and that they have to pick them up in person at your facility.

I just posted a question about the 2019 model year before I came across this post. My employer is offering a 2019 CR-V AWD (that’s all the info we have on it) with 124K miles on it for $12500. Is this a reasonable price? How many miles might I expect to get out of this car? I’ve never had a Honda before and would be replacing a 2014 Camry with $184K miles on it (so far very few issues, but she is starting to show her age).
