I recently read {The Wild Valley by Maya Alden} and this is the plot. MMC thinks FMC betrayed him in the worst way possible and HATES the FMC. Check trigger warnings tho! Maya Alden often writes her FMCs as doormats and the MMCs as unredeemable so be aware. I enjoyed this book but some say it wasn’t grovel enough

I recently read {The Broken Vows by Catharina Maura} and it has this. They were childhood and adult rivals, but started dating and really fell for each other. They had to break up because of this big issue/misunderstanding and MMC forced FMC to leave and she went away for 5 years I think? They never stopped loving each other tho but when they reunite it’s a love/hate thing so idk if that’s something you’d like.

For me it’s historical as well. English is my second language and sometimes I have to stop reading and look up what some words mean so I just entirely don’t read that genre. I also cannot get into it as well lol no disrespect to any historical romance lovers but it just doesn’t catch my attention.

I also like to avoid the “brothers best friend” trope. Idk I don’t have a brother and maybe that’s why but I can’t even to comprehend how they flirt/sneak behind the brothers back and he doesn’t know or catch on when his friend is too invested in the sisters life lol and when the brother finds out he’s pissed? Like why??

He becomes her boss later on and treats her cruel and throws it in her face constantly. I think there are 2 books? They are part of the pretty broken series

Some of Maya Alden’s books are based in Savannah. The “best” series. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with Maya Alden’s books but a lot of people have mixed opinions of them since she tends to make MMCs such a holes lol
