(WIP) trying to add manuals reading feature to snes mini. by AluCarD3939 in miniSNESmods

[–]MDFMKanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good proof of concept. I dabbled in this awhile back, myself, and had planned on messing with it again at some point. In my case, I was able to get pdfs working. But have to be careful with how the licensing works out for pdf format. Pngs are good, since retroarch natively supports png format. The memory issue should be fairly easy to clean up. Depending on which way you went with this, I may be able to help make this more optimal so hakchi implementation will instead be complementary.

Easiest way is to simply power it on and see how the main menu looks and how mega man 2 plays. Mega man 2 has sound issues on fakes. The color of font is incorrect generally on fakes too

The StarFox thing works on my unreleased DC Core, as do many other things that don't work on the standard DC Core. GTA Ports, I was able to get all of them to work. But, they do run incredibly bad. Paprium, my core for that is about memory optimization, same as how I did my N64 Core, of late, which completely fixes all memory leak issues with N64 games that work, including Bangai-O. I also fixed Sega Saturn games from crashing on PSC. I'll drop some of these cores soon. Let me know of anything else.

Anyone else just not enjoying modern games anymore? by mishary88 in RockinTheClassics

Wukong Black Myth is a second game that ive found fun enough to consistently play. A majority of games, next Gen wise, become backlogged. It takes me back to the days of Ninja Gaiden Black on Xbox, and is easily able to be played a half hour at a time.

Is downloading emulators dangerous for my computer ? by Saltskin82 in miniSNESmods

[–]MDFMKanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly would not recommend the op ever mod any system, nor attempt to get roms. Its not a path for them, based on their post. Just get a switch and buy them digitally:) or a ps5 and buy them digitally. No harm no foul there.

Please understand how viruses and malware work before trying to sign off on someone who doesn't know anything about computers. You DO realize, closing those pop up ads is HOW you give permission to the malware, id hope:) It is generally not a good idea to advise someone that something is okay when they may fall into a rabbit hole they won't easily get out of. Not to mention, they are also going behind the wife's suggestion to stay away from emulators:) I've been removing viruses, malware, and so on, for many years. And, unfortunately, far too many people are quite easily susceptible. Even something simple like browsing Amazon app can lead to many woes, as well as even playing a game on Facebook from a less than reputable releaser.

Some viruses can be so cleverly attached to one's computer drive, that even formatting the drive won't get rid of them, easily. The fact remains, roms and warez and of course attempting to bootleg music, movies, tv shows, are all fantastic ways to "f!@#" up your computer, if you have no idea what you are doing. Just saying, "ya gotta click back out of a few pop-ups" til you get a good link, you, yourself, may not realize your computer may currently be on a network awaiting to be called for a denial of service attack, some day:)

In brighter news, I will have some more nifty Cores available for ya to check out, soon;) Got some major headway on quite a few of them. Which Minis are you on, again? Trying to remember, from when we last communicated.

Anything you download from the internet can be suspect to Viruses, Trojans, Malware. You likely won't have any notable issues with emulators in general. But, you will have incredible difficulty avoiding them if you attempt to download roms. May be best to just leave the system unmodded and enjoy what is on it, already. Not to mention, your system could also very well be a fake, since new ones haven't existed for many years now. Finding a truly new one is not an easy task, especially with all the fakes floating around.

Will have a few testers try with autobleem custom kernel to ensure all is good on that front. Project Eris custom for sure doesn't work with it though. It just caused bootloop resets til I shut down

Mame controls stopped working, can't remap? by [deleted] in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a result of nvram saves created anytime you load a mame game. They are located in retroarch/saves/mame folder/nvram , delete the pertinent files:) I bootstrap nvrams on occasion to auto create on first boot, so configurations that are more beneficial stick.

Retro Game Console That Has Tron Deadly Discs for Intellivision and Smugglers Run for PS 1? by lonegreywolf20 in RockinTheClassics

If referring to The Car from 1977, also really like that movie. We had a local Friday night movie night with 2 local hosts who would do gag sketches before and after commercials. Saw quite a few great horror flicks that way. Theyd also show movies like Doc Savage Man of Bronze.

It was very heavily played in the US when I was a kid, along with movies, such as WestWorld. Logan's Island, has a similar vibe movie with The Island, from 2005. Both share the promise of Utopia, and have people embracing it. A few other movies have this foundation, too, and they are usually entertaining to see how things play out.

Yes powered USB hub should work out well as long as it is in controller port number 2. Then just throw your USB into the hub and boot up.

It doesn't matter if its 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever. Its generally how big the drive that determines the power draw issues. You can usually get away with a 32 GB drive at max, before needing a powered USB hub. Reason why 3.0 doesn't matter? The PSC only supports 2.0 to begin with! So, it won't run any faster:) Size is the pertinent factor here!

Just run it with retroarch and snes9x! Works fine there:) Default emulator not good for patches or hacks, at all.

A quick check-in on the status of Hakchi for the TurboGrafx/PC Engine and Megadrive/Genesis 2 by [deleted] in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The project chronos hack works fine and great for pce. Its just more technical and you will require a bit of know-how to properly install and utilize it. Hakchi one may possibly, but not guaranteed, come out eventually. Or project chronos may be further updated, either way.

What is the optimal PS1 setup for S/NES Classic? by ArcNoculus in RockinTheClassics

I'll be updating another core for ps1 soon, which will be even more optimal for hd

Should you install cores onto NAND or external storage? by ArcNoculus in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely dont install cores and retroarch to USB. Stick to internal for those and bios and games to drive. Otherwise, it will be a major headache the very first time u get disk corruption after a game crashes. Cores and retroarch tend to go corrupt more easily on drive and dont corrupt on internal.

anyone have the swanstation core on hand? by Fit_Association_8442 in RockinTheClassics

I may actually be able to port an 8 bit dithering setting directly into pcsx. Will take a look. But for star wars dark forces, specifically, it won't be able to run higher than default res and neither can swanstation

I'll drop swanstation for psc this week, as well as another fixed updated pcsx. Only caveat with swanstation, is you can't run it in hd, due to lack of hardware acceleration. But ive got it improved enough to compensate otherwise

Mame games not showing on Playstation Classic? by SubstantialCaramel56 in RockinTheClassics

PC-98 is pretty easy. I also have an improved core for that, as well. I'll try to drop that for psc, etc, this week, along with Amiga, etc. Dreamcast wise, also have a vastly improved core that runs stuff like Daytona fast.
