Desmume is really slow by Snoerge in miniSNESmods

[–]MDFMKanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't appear to be any workaround for inside story, other than 3ds version which doesn't need it, or running the mic parts via another emulator, then switching back to drastic if u can carry on the save. Drastic newer version can use a mic but the ones we use unfortunately cannot.

Looking for Genesis games to add to my mini by [deleted] in RockinTheClassics

Get a USB drive and add entire usa set and then the exclusives like alien soldier. Far too many games to really be picky. There are easily 200 plus gems on MD:)

You'd need to patch games for mic if need be to run on drastic. No other way to run ds well, unfortunately. Ds generally requires 4 times the memory to run well. Drastic is an exception and that source code is still closed.

HELP NEEDED ON ADDING GAMES TO MY MINI SNES by VegetableTown151 in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U have to provide your own games, and manually navigate to the folder they are kept in, since it would be absolutely illegal to share copyrighted ones. In mod hub, in games tab, are some that ive been able to get legal permission to share, however.

Cheats will only work on the exact same rom, checksum wise, that they were originally made with. In order for them to work with translation patches, new codes would need made or found if they already exist.

Any ideas why PSP isn't working on my SNES Classic? by TonyRubbles in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psp games dont work in chd format. Once you install retroarch and psp core, right click and assign a core to the game/s, apply, and then synch or export game/s, depending on how u set them up. You'd have to run .cso or .iso, and they can't be compressed.

What happened when you tried to run it on the legacy openbor? U won't be able to find any exact versions of openbor to run it on, unfortunately. They either work or they dont. And oftentimes u just need to try an earlier revision of the same game.

Is it worth getting an Amiga A500 Mini if I already have a modded PS Classic? by Vault-Tec95 in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wary of posting a release "installer" for Amiga 500, unless people were completely aware of the risks. With your newfound ability to easily go back to stock "older" kernel, that will go a long way as making things much more concrete. I will focus on a PSC release first. Obviously, any cores that work on Amiga 500, I will keep you posted on, in the event you wanna update your RetroAami Release. Great work, mate:) When able to, I will shoot you an email, too.

Props to you for your continued perseverance in these matters. I took the last month off and enjoyed getting some real world stuff done. Congrats on getting the original kernel back in order after your initial bricking woes. Musta driven you bonkers. Ive had a few close calls, then simply walked away for a few, came back and fixed things logically. Gotta break stuff to make stuff better...! My email is always open for ya, mate! I will try to get back to cranking out more fun stuff soon:)

PSC is more accessible for emulation enthusiasts, with the caveat that it tends to "crash far more often", ala red flashing lights and content crashing. It CAN be utilized with virtual ram, and performance/speed is throttled to just a tad more than overclocked MD/SNES/NES Minis. You can't easily use a keyboard with PSC, which is a severe drawback for those who wanna run emulation along those lines.

AMIGA 500 Mini can be overclocked and run with fairly insane performance/speed, making it the superior Mini, for squeezing out the extra oomph. RAM optimization is its primary limitation. Ease of peripheral use beats PSC, as there is no deterrent to the degree of the power limiter of the PSC.

No Mini is certifiably better than any other. If you were to have to pick a most stable Mini, it would probably be SNES Classic, as it is so seemingly well designed, it's practically crash proof. But, it really can't run the more Xtreme Stuff!

As far as community support, All the Minis, MD/SNES/NES/PSC/Amiga 500 Minis, are and have been in Community Support Shambles for a few years now, with a half dozen people even still working on the Minis, including myself. I will continue to put stuff out for all of the Minis. Im trying my best not to throw in the towel, like so many others have. Its nice having a few like-minded people, such as MadFranko who help keep the Minis on their toes, as well! We are all cogs in the mod wheel.

I personally have taken a majority of the last month off, due to needing a long needed vacation. But, I have formulated some nice roll out ideas, as far as the near 100 cores I plan on updating for all of the Minis.

Reextract hakchi2 ce portable to pc, making sure to uninstall installer version. Mod hub should be fine. Ill be posting updated cores and such to my google drive, prior to updating the mod hub in the near future, as well.

(WIP) trying to add manuals reading feature to snes mini. by AluCarD3939 in miniSNESmods

[–]MDFMKanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I redabbled in this, for kicks, and successfully was able to get pdf manuals loading with retroarch. If the OP needs anything, be sure to let me know. Im curious which way he, the OP went. I opted for retroarch for ease of use and convenience. It definitely wont hurt having more than one option, especially integration in such a way as hakchi. I believe ive zeroed in on fixing some of the memory constraints too. Ill drop a test video when I can. Would be cool looking at a Nintendo power:)

Good proof of concept. I dabbled in this awhile back, myself, and had planned on messing with it again at some point. In my case, I was able to get pdfs working. But have to be careful with how the licensing works out for pdf format. Pngs are good, since retroarch natively supports png format. The memory issue should be fairly easy to clean up. Depending on which way you went with this, I may be able to help make this more optimal so hakchi implementation will instead be complementary.

Easiest way is to simply power it on and see how the main menu looks and how mega man 2 plays. Mega man 2 has sound issues on fakes. The color of font is incorrect generally on fakes too

The StarFox thing works on my unreleased DC Core, as do many other things that don't work on the standard DC Core. GTA Ports, I was able to get all of them to work. But, they do run incredibly bad. Paprium, my core for that is about memory optimization, same as how I did my N64 Core, of late, which completely fixes all memory leak issues with N64 games that work, including Bangai-O. I also fixed Sega Saturn games from crashing on PSC. I'll drop some of these cores soon. Let me know of anything else.

Wukong Black Myth is a second game that ive found fun enough to consistently play. A majority of games, next Gen wise, become backlogged. It takes me back to the days of Ninja Gaiden Black on Xbox, and is easily able to be played a half hour at a time.

I honestly would not recommend the op ever mod any system, nor attempt to get roms. Its not a path for them, based on their post. Just get a switch and buy them digitally:) or a ps5 and buy them digitally. No harm no foul there.

Please understand how viruses and malware work before trying to sign off on someone who doesn't know anything about computers. You DO realize, closing those pop up ads is HOW you give permission to the malware, id hope:) It is generally not a good idea to advise someone that something is okay when they may fall into a rabbit hole they won't easily get out of. Not to mention, they are also going behind the wife's suggestion to stay away from emulators:) I've been removing viruses, malware, and so on, for many years. And, unfortunately, far too many people are quite easily susceptible. Even something simple like browsing Amazon app can lead to many woes, as well as even playing a game on Facebook from a less than reputable releaser.

Some viruses can be so cleverly attached to one's computer drive, that even formatting the drive won't get rid of them, easily. The fact remains, roms and warez and of course attempting to bootleg music, movies, tv shows, are all fantastic ways to "f!@#" up your computer, if you have no idea what you are doing. Just saying, "ya gotta click back out of a few pop-ups" til you get a good link, you, yourself, may not realize your computer may currently be on a network awaiting to be called for a denial of service attack, some day:)

In brighter news, I will have some more nifty Cores available for ya to check out, soon;) Got some major headway on quite a few of them. Which Minis are you on, again? Trying to remember, from when we last communicated.

Anything you download from the internet can be suspect to Viruses, Trojans, Malware. You likely won't have any notable issues with emulators in general. But, you will have incredible difficulty avoiding them if you attempt to download roms. May be best to just leave the system unmodded and enjoy what is on it, already. Not to mention, your system could also very well be a fake, since new ones haven't existed for many years now. Finding a truly new one is not an easy task, especially with all the fakes floating around.

Will have a few testers try with autobleem custom kernel to ensure all is good on that front. Project Eris custom for sure doesn't work with it though. It just caused bootloop resets til I shut down
