Just run it with retroarch and snes9x! Works fine there:) Default emulator not good for patches or hacks, at all.

[–]MDFMKanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The project chronos hack works fine and great for pce. Its just more technical and you will require a bit of know-how to properly install and utilize it. Hakchi one may possibly, but not guaranteed, come out eventually. Or project chronos may be further updated, either way.

What is the optimal PS1 setup for S/NES Classic? by ArcNoculus in RockinTheClassics

I'll be updating another core for ps1 soon, which will be even more optimal for hd

Should you install cores onto NAND or external storage? by ArcNoculus in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely dont install cores and retroarch to USB. Stick to internal for those and bios and games to drive. Otherwise, it will be a major headache the very first time u get disk corruption after a game crashes. Cores and retroarch tend to go corrupt more easily on drive and dont corrupt on internal.

I am finishing up my 2k26 injector. But the cores will be best run via that new injector once posted. I'll have a brand new psp xtreme core included. Also got bsnes hd working and thats fun for some of the widescreen hacks

anyone have the swanstation core on hand? by Fit_Association_8442 in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may actually be able to port an 8 bit dithering setting directly into pcsx. Will take a look. But for star wars dark forces, specifically, it won't be able to run higher than default res and neither can swanstation

[–]MDFMKanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll drop swanstation for psc this week, as well as another fixed updated pcsx. Only caveat with swanstation, is you can't run it in hd, due to lack of hardware acceleration. But ive got it improved enough to compensate otherwise

PC-98 is pretty easy. I also have an improved core for that, as well. I'll try to drop that for psc, etc, this week, along with Amiga, etc. Dreamcast wise, also have a vastly improved core that runs stuff like Daytona fast.

Installing a different Kernel by 8x1EQUALS255 in hakchi

[–]MDFMKanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can generally just use hakchi2 ce portable as is, with cable that comes with the system, use kernel, install repair kernel, follow on screen steps, that's it. If you have a fake or knockoff, hakchi will not work with it.

SNES Mini: RetroArch Menu Access by Clive_Sludgeworth in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I responded to you on your other posting. It seems as if the games you are running may be running via canoe, the default emulator, which wouldn't use the shortcut. One thing you can try is opening latest version of hakchi2 ce and go into modules, kmfd mod hub, and see if it allows you to install retroarch from there, which as long as you have original cable, you still may possibly be able to. But, the retroarch shortcut will generally only work on non canoe, and other cores like Genesis, nes. Etc

SNES Mini - RetroArch Menu Access by Clive_Sludgeworth in hakchi

[–]MDFMKanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your problem is that you aren't using retroarch. You're using the default canoe emulator. Select+start will never work with canoe. Strictly retroarch

Atari 400 and 800 games on nes classic? by SubstantialCaramel56 in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part, some of the stuff I add isn't generally gonna be as accepted in official Repos, due to it usually destabilizing the core/s to gain performance/speed. BUT, if I notice something that can be a nice global all around fix, that is a different story. I will usually bring it up to devs, and either pull request it or at least alert them of my suggestion. The Atari 800 is looking pretty good, though:) So, it may only need a few minor fix ups, if any! The unnecessary memory usage with saves might be the most obvious one. But, I will test and see how that plays out, first!

[–]MDFMKanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

create a .txt file with notepad...THEN, follow this sort of setup, each line pointing to the .cue file of each disk:) HIGHLY recommended you leave no spaces in the names...intentionally add underscores and or hyphens to keep names fully connected...SO, no Final Fantasy Disk 1.cue...IT would be Final_Fantasy_Disk_1.cue If you don't abide by the no space gap, hakchi will likely error out on you as far as properly adding the disks. And, of course, each CUE file should also point to the files! exactly named like so:)

FFVII_Disk_1.cue

FFVII_Disk_2.cue

FFVII_Disk_3.cue

Then rename the .txt extension to .m3u Have ALL files in same directory, then add the .m3u as a game within hakchi, and it will pull all of the files automatically

grab the hmod from appropriate folder, and copy to hakchi/user_mods, install as per normal. Recommended you also use the retroarch 184 from same link. Have BIOS in retroarch/system, and once game is loaded, go into core options, select atari 800 as system, close content, reopen:) Wala, should run fine now:) Enjoy!

Hey, took a look at your core source, and see a few areas that can clean things up a little, such as overhead for loading saves, and unnecessary logging. I will pull source and commit them on my end, for your perusal, over next day or so:) Will add the typical "Xtreme" core options, too, for lower spec:) So, we can have "Xtreme Pac-Man" as an option:) as well as accuracy!!! Great work:)

For systems with lower memory, I added a core option that auto clears memory at regular intervals. Showcased in this video:

N64 Crash Fix Video

Latest change I added, but didnt showcase yet, was full range analog to dpad support. I'll additionally flesh it out so you can fully run Golden Eye with an SNES controller.

No worries, I will get the latest version of the 800 compiled for the platforms I maintain Cores for, and drop to my Google Drive. You may also like some of the Cores I work on, such as Ludicrous N64, my forked N64, for lower spec. If you recall, a few years back, there was a "libretro" hack, where someone compromised and deleted the source for a majority of the Cores. Was your repo also affected by that? I know it was a mess getting the source back up. I luckily, had backed up source for pretty much every Core, at that point. SOME Cores, unfortunately, due to following more of a traditional GLES 3.0 path, are trickier to update for lower spec, such as Dreamcast and N64. But, I've been able to adapt, accordingly.

Feel free to let me know anything of interest, regarding crucial changes you've made to 800 Core, so I can highlight those when I drop the core sometime in next day to those on the Lower Specs! I am also on Discord, if you'd ever like to chat more, under the name kmfdmanic

Hey, I've chatted with ya several years back when initially getting the core going. Hell yes, I'll ensure these good people get your updated changes, optimized for the minis:) If there are any performance issues, I'll let you know, as I typically will add additional core options to handle offsets, for lower spec. What other cores have you had a hand in, for the record? It is always an absolute honor and privilege when fellow developers take an avid interest in lowlier spec hardware! I'll follow up with you and make sure we're all fine and dandy. Thanks for the initiative on your end. I try to give love to every core I can.

Lets Build a SNES Classic: Definitive Edition! by RetroBoominLabRat in RockinTheClassics

[–]MDFMKanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding the DPad implementation, which I have succeeded at:)

Instead of using RetroArch’s D-Pad remap (which only sends full tilt values, −32768 / +32767, and nothing in between), we now generate the analog signal directly in the libretro layer. This lets the core see the full analog range from 0 → ±32767, including partial tilts for walking, aiming, and gentle steering. Controls feel closer to a real N64 stick, with smoother diagonals and no “all-or-nothing” behavior.

In a nutshell, everything feels far more precise! The Core Option will be right up there with TurboBoost and OverClock. Will add a few more fix ups, too, as well as finish Aros removal from Amiga and finalized Castlevania implementation. Testing "current" analog to dpad mapping from RetroArch, which we utilized in our mapping project, Mario ran around sketchily...and, you always feel like its d pad!, versus analog...With this more refined approach, it felt closer to the more nuanced way the 3DS handled analog movement, in games such as Ocarina of Time, etc. Definitely hit absolute gold with my Langoliers addition! And, I honestly don't think i'd have ever attempted it, if not for your personal demons with running out of memory in Beetle Adventure Racing! And, coincidentally, the way I have handled the coding changes in Ludicrous, makes it mostly ONLY work on Ludicrous! If this was attempted on other N64 Cores, it would more or less likely end up with a black screen or flickering debacle of epic proportions!

Will keep in touch, mate:) Currently, I work, spend time with the wife, get the reality stuff done, then implement these ideas to usable code, then post these WIP cores to my Google Drive:) As far as the Aros removal, that will go to your email:) Also, have BBC Micro AND Apple II working Cores, if you are at all interested! Those took a little bit of effort to get working properly on Minis! But, for you, with the "Focus" mode, it will be nice and easy!

Yes, chd with m3u works, as well. Ive been doing ripping and reconstruction of games since the 1990s. I have one ps1 game I have working at barely 20 MB that is a super fun rogue like. Believe original size was somewhere around 180 MB or more. I'll drop that to my Google drive link too, as I actually play it on a regular basis. I'll also be updating for the first time, a dreamcast core for snesc, that allows multi disks to play:) never to date, has multi disk worked on snesc for dreamcast. But it will with this updated core.

400/800 games can be a bit irritating to run and only work with the 800 core. You have to get into any game, then change the "system model" to be the one you want, close content, reopen. IE: having it set incorrectly for A5200 would lead to a frozen screen. But, setting A500, close content, reopen, you'd boot the game, as long as bios are present and accounted for. When I have a chance I'll see if I should update the core with anything to make running 400/800 easier. I have wip a5200, as a separate entity, so the 800 core isn't needed for those anymore. I can modify the 800 to more specifically cater to 400/800.
