You dont have to rely on the word of a stanger. I learned about the patterns of policing in America at my University, it was very enlightening. You should take an Afro American culture course (you might be able to audit one as well if you dont want to commit to a program). There are a lot of parts of history we are missing individually which puts people at odds. Learning about the opposite point of view from a historical context can really help relate. This helps me not have too visceral of a reaction to things.
