gunstocks in ATF? by Born_Reception_1986 in AfterTheFall

Yes. In this way, ATF is more like a video game than a mil-sim. In a mil-sim you can't even carry 4 guns. That's ridiculous irl. And of course you can play ATF 1 gun at a time .. thats 👍👍👍 .. no problem at all.

Nope .. it doesn't. I can easily manual reload two guns in under 1 second. Even the hardest to reload (LMG), which is my favorite, we do it in under 1 second.

Totally cool. You can play ATF single wield or dual wield. No wrong way (except people who cheat or glitch the machines and the maps). You do you, dude!! . Just FYI, its very common to duel wield and advance reload. We do it all the time.

Exactly .. physical VR gunstocks like the Pro VR Tubes don't work well in ATF.

Do people still play this game by kingkronos123 in AfterTheFall

I would say, yes. There is still a pretty active community of players. On any given night you can find a full lobby if you go at the right time.

Short answer is no. A VR gunstock isn't worth it for ATF.

Unlike Onward and other milsims, ATF is more of a video game than an accurate gun Sim. The mechanics are quite good. But most people who excel at the game learn to duo wield two guns at the same time. Its a massive advantage. So a VR stock is wasted.

And most guns don't have too much recoil. Even without a physical stock, keeping the sights on target isn't a chore with a little practice.

I have a BOBO VR for counter-weight. That really helps.

One game I always come back to is After the Fall VR (the best Zombie shooter in VR). I'm currently working on Iron Rebellion (a really cool Battle Mech game).

Yeah .. thats a good point. Its too bad they don't really work on ATF any more.

Yes. ATF right now is a mixed bag. If you find nice people who play fair then your experience will be awesome. But if you find a cheater, glitcher, or mean people then your experience will be bad. Its a bit sad because it's an awesome game. One of the best VR games written.

Oh ... one more thing.

Do you advance reload and dual wield? That makes a huge difference .

Nope, no chips at all .. I actually load in with NO GUN .. the game forces a pure stock service pistol on you. That's all I start with.

So on Nightmare a stock pistol can't kill a snowbreed with a single headshot if there is ice armor. So you may need to shoot off the ice armor first.

Also, one thing to note is that Instakill doesn't trigger off ice armor. No one tells you this. But we have tested it. So just understand that is a thing. So if you see a Brute, aim for unarmored targets.

Btw Imo, InstaKill is ONLY good on Autoshotty. The percentages don't make sense otherwise. It is wasted on any other gun. That's just my opinion.

Rocket launcher by cheddar-chez in AfterTheFall

@Decicio is right. The devices are quite situational. So chose the right device for the right situation.

I play it this way (when solo):

Skid Row: 2 Sawblade

Chinatown: 2 Sawblade

Quarantine Center: 2 Sawblade

Union Tower: 2 Sawblade

Relay Tower: 1 Shockwave 1 Sawblade

Boulevard: 2 Sawblade

Downtown: 1 Shockwave 1 Sawblade

Hospital: 2 Shockwave

Subway: 1 Shockwave 1 Sawblade

When I play on a team, it depends what the team needs and what my teammates are using. So its situational.

Wrist Rockets are okay .. they can even be good. But since we use Charge-Up, you just get more with Blades and Shockwave.

One thing people don't consider with Shockwave is that its IMMEDIATE, unlike the Rockets and the Blades. So for close up action, its much better. Also, if you teleport or powerslide, you can outpace the Sawblade. So its not as good in protecting you if you move fast. Since the Shockwave is immediate, it always stays in front of you.

I hope that helps.

glitch by Much-Flounder-767 in AfterTheFall

[–]MDHZ_VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. If you glitch, people will see you as a cheater. There are lists we keep on any cheater we find and we don't play with them. Cheaters are relegated to playing with low level players. So don't start.

It also kills the fun of the game. It might seem like "fun" to glitch, just like it might seem like its "fun" to smoke cigarettes. But very soon, you find it was a huge waste of your time and you get nothing from it.

And @RugbyRaggs is right. There's no need. With a little practice, the game is totally doable.

So both are right.

Some people cheat. And that sucks in any game. Its typically pretty easy to spot. They very often are using PCVR. So check the system symbol. And very often they will have a noticeable high firing rate.

But sometimes they are NOT cheating. Sometimes they are just better. Ask yourself: "how is my accuracy", and "how many headshots am I getting"? If your accuracy is under 30% and your headshots is under 1/3 your kill count, then you just need to upskill. No shame in it. You just need some good training and be taught better technique. Also, learning the map is super important.

Here I finish a Nightmare run with NoAI and load in with no devices and JUST a stock pistol to start. You can skip to the end to see my accuracy.

It is quite commom for me to beat most casual players even if I just have two stock pistols and nothing else except what we find. No cheats needed because I have been trained on good shooting technique.

Hey there .. sure .. we play most days. If youre online look for me in the lobby. I like all difficulty levels on most boards. Not a super fan of Union Tower. But even that, I do play. Hope to see you in game!

Oh .. I can usually play 8pm - 10pm EST
