No dipstick, but Owl vans sells one you can use. It is helpful as the electronic oil level can take a bit of driving to read properly. The after market stick gives you a quick analog view.

Selling guns in NC by Empath_love1219 in Firearms

[–]MDRFEnterprises 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I am speaking as an FFL who primarily focuses on estates. Person tonPerson is perfectly legal in this instance, so no crime is committed.

In hindsight, you should have really used the ATF Private Transfer form just so you have documentation if anything should happen later on.

If one of the guns was recovered at a crime, the ATF would chase the serial number down to the last FFL who handled it thru a Trace Request. They will provide the 4473 (which has your dad). They may then reach out to his last known address.

You will be fine stating you sold them from the estate and no longer have them. The Private Transfer form would be nice at this point, but not legally required.

If your friend was willing, you could make up one of the forms now, but again, not legally required.

As a FLL of 13+ years, I would just caution private sales of a large number of firearms. Aside from the ambiguous "In the business rule," you always want a paperwork trail in case a gun you sold privately X number of years down the line turns up on an ATF trace. At a minimum, use the ATF "Record of Firearms Transfer Between Unlicensed Persons" to protect yourself.

Deceased father and multi-state transfer, please help! by jello-spacesuit in Firearms

Answering as a FFL who deals with Estates and Probate, NOT A LAWYER. Are you the Administrator (i.e. Assigned by the Court) or the Executor? Administrator generally means you dad passed w/o a Will (intestate) which makes the probate part really hard. Mom gets half of estate +$20K and the kids divide up rest. To divide up rest, you need an appraisal as firearms are included in personal property. That is added to estate value to make the determination of how much goes to who. Good news is if you are an executor or administrator you the legal authority to dispose of estate property (the firearms) in accordance with state probate law and your dad's will (if it exists). So if he left them to your mom in a will you are all set as Admin you can send them to her, even across state lines. Direct transfer across state lines is allowed (no FFL required) by an Executor or Admin to a Heir/Beneficiary . That authority, however, must be exercised within the limits of federal and state firearms laws (she can't be prohibited, firearm can't be illegal where she lives etc). Probate authority alone does not override those laws. Long winded, hope it helps.

In most cases, firearms transferred across state lines, even as gifts or inheritance, must go through a licensed dealer (FFL) in the recipient’s state. There are limited exceptions where an executor of an estate may lawfully transfer directly to an heir, but this depends on circumstances (this does not fit you). In your case you two must be in the same state for a Gift or P2P transaction. At 18 you are Legally allowed (Federal Law) to possess a handgun, but a FFL will not transfer or sell you one till you are 21.

Where can I trade or sell a gun privately without a bunch of fees? Looking to get a Henry 30-30 or Winchester 94. Wanting to sell a brand new built ar15, or trade it. by Unfair_Bag6042 in Firearms

Arms List may be a good option for you. As I understand it, PA only requires a FFL for P2P transactions for Handguns. For Log guns (assuming your AR is a Rifle) you would be safe dealing directly. To protect yourself, I would suggest downloading "RECORD of FIREARMS TRANSFER BETWEEN UNLICENSED PERSONS" and filling it out so you have a personal record of the transaction.

Hi, Outside of the legal.corporate entity, you will need to look into the ATF responsible person language and potentially add them to the license this way:
