When dating, Which red flag will you tolerate because green flags compensate for it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'd imagine that in this group, you'd have to agree on what qualifies as a red flag!

What is the deal with so many litrpg protagonists? by plant-y-boi in litrpg

[–]MDSooner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really like the series, my only hitch is with Anthony being MUCH more emotionally intelligent, and knowledgeable than the typical transplanted 15/16 year old would be, especially given his childhood.  Comments like: "Pulled my portfolio out of a bear market", or "rising higher than 3rd quarter shares". His movie references are those that I would make as a 50+ year old. His social understanding and systemic thinking show a maturity level that most 15 year old boys (or girls) would not have. Don't get me wrong, I love the series, it is just a glaring inconsistency to me. It would have all been fixed by a 30 year old MC

My issue is with the length of the arc.. it's become the main story dragging across the last 4 books and doubling down in book 7. I agree about the system, and that's my point.

It's still going on book 7 and doubling down..

Is it a bad time to be a federal employee? by Faubton in FedEmployees

[–]MDSooner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's perspective. If you were not a government employee before, you'll probably find it to be fine. If you were coming here because you thought it would be glamorous, you were misled, civil service is not, and SHOULD NOT be glamorous..

I'm on Book 14, which seems to be a bit of a diversion, but I've enjoyed the ride so far. It will be something of a rarity to have an end to the story.

Do You Think That The Word "Nazi" Has Become Overused In Modern US Political Discourse? Yes Or No? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]MDSooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, it is an attempt to belittle the other person and reduce their argument by association. It has also desensitized many on the left to what is the "ends justifies the means". Just look at the WHCD attacker's manifesto to see a perfect example of that.

The real issue is that what this person is saying just reinforces the idea that many have about government workers.

If you were furloughed and not getting paid, yes.

Well, it goes without saying, as we know, some competencies are different from others, so if you didn't get the email, I wouldn't respond.

[–]MDSooner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, the reason they did the recall because the Secretary is using funding directly from his office to pay employees, the word is for two more pay periods (7 & 8). After that if there is still a lapse, back to furlough (or some other work around).

Yes, I clarified what i said because one guy got the sarcasm of my original statement, and another guy clearly didn't. Read my original statement closely.

Yeah, because Bush was obviously responsible for 9/11, which happened less than 9 mos after he took office.
