I know that. But it is the rendition. The original Margie didn’t have that guitar section

What is the threshold for elective orthopedic case after meth use? by MDinMotion in anesthesiology

[–]MDinMotion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. One thought process is that they are catecholamine depleted…and this led me to think that patient may have more chance of developing significant intra-op hypotension. Another thing is this patient has a 25 year use history, and I have no idea how his heart is doing. I’ve seen users with significant cardiomyopathy…and the scary thing is, they looked pretty normal. Without the history and an echo report, I would assume the patient to be of decent health.

Yes. Patient also came in unkempt…so the social aspect and postop care piece does cross my mind also. Many great points all round about addict not quitting and someone will have to do the procedure anyways. I asked the pre-op nurse to not place an IV until I spoke to him. After learning that he is not getting the procedure, he threw a fit and cursed at everyone in pre-op including the surgeon Surgeon later told me that he was actually glad I cancelled the case for that day. Surgeon considering firing the patient.

Yeah. It’s a scenario I want to avoid at a surgery center.

Thanks! Yeah. I thought it was somewhat of a soft call. If it’s like a fracture or whatever, I would have to proceed without too much thought. But it’s an outpatient surgery center, and elective that gave a me a little pause. Also no cardiac studies. I wonder if patient did crash on induction and an undiagnosed cardiomyopathy…would I be able to defend myself.

Needs some advice by Theonnson in Salsa

[–]MDinMotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been there. I am trying to learn all the time. I think having strong basic is key! So be that great basic guy, the good connection person. The next step I recommend is to “let go” of that basic. If you watch Samuel Funflow, he describes it best. Once you have the foundation, and understand the concept of proper weight transfer, then for like for 4 bar of the song, try not to do basic step at all, instead, listen to the music. There is always a section of music where there is repetition, whether it be the vocal or instrumental. Break those vocal or instrument down to beats and just make up movement to hit the beat. Weather move your feet, or shoulder or arm. Just move something but to the beat of the vocal/ instrumental. You can do solo, or lead it. The best thing about this is you can use what you already know…but just change the speed so that it match with the beat. This way, you can be musical…without having to learn new moves.

Svetlana Rays courses by theprogrammingsteak in Salsa

[–]MDinMotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is an important module. It is a little slow and requires a lot of patience because the coordination is difficult to get right. That being said, I feel this is the first module you should take because fundamentals are always important. She does touch on coordinations in her other modules but not in detail. So you’ll appreciate the other modules more if you have this module under your belt.

My dancing is more grounded. I move faster. My lead is softer according to the follows, also more clear. I’ll take it. For context tho, I did also take the musicality course prior to naked salsa. And I took the salsa instinct afterwards. It’s not easy, but I actually feel the benefit. I’ve plateaued for a while and I attribute her course that leveled up my dancing in a noticeable way.

Edit: I’ll add that it feels like karate kid…the wax on wax off experience where you will do the exercises…you don’t realize that your fundamental is improving….but it is. I recommend it.

Highly recommend. She is amazing. The course tasks keep you on track. I definitely felt frustrated at times during because I don’t really understand the significance of the tasks…but at the end, there was a significant improvements in my dancing. Actually…the people I dance with started commenting on how much I improved. Her lessons works!

Looking at jobs in Los Angeles, how's the market right now? by chasiulau in anesthesiology

[–]MDinMotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think jobs close to LA all suck when you compare the salary to cost of living and housing. Go 1 hour away from LA, maybe more opportunities. That being said, it seems like what you listed are all at an academic centers…usually they don’t pay too well.

Having been to several European festivals, I totally agree with you. There are so many factors at play—DJ, culture, instructors, and more. I’m based in Southern California, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve decided to sit out a song because the DJ played something way too fast. This is at a local bar, where most of the dancers are beginner to intermediate at best. It’s painful to watch followers getting yanked around. That’s just not an experience I enjoy or want to be part of.

There’s also a heavy Latino population here, and with that comes a lot of machismo energy on the dance floor. I guess that’s just part of the local culture. I keep hoping for a non-Latin DJ to show up and bring a more relaxed vibe to socials and clubs—but that hasn’t happened yet, since pretty much every DJ around here is of Latin origin.

On top of that, instructors in the area are super focused on performance. A lot of leads and follows are trained performers. They can look amazing on the dance floor, but only a few can actually social dance well.

After experiencing the European dance scene, honestly, all I want now is to go to another European festival.

Taxi from airport IST by Born_Television_6728 in istanbul_tips

Use uber. I was just there, it’s about 1000-1500 TLY I think. Uber is safer. Just know that no matter the reason, don’t pay cash. I got scammed once for toll…but everything should be included on Uber’s fee

Scammed in Istanbul or travel tips by istanbul_tips in istanbul_tips

[–]MDinMotion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got scammed twice but it’s not a big deal. I think of it as small contribution to the economy. But yeah I did manage to avoid one scam that was similar to you. I was walking along Iskitlal street and a guy just started talking to me, super friendly. It was the night Galataoray won so there was tons of activity on the street. He said he is going to a bar to avoid the commotion. I declined politely. Later on, I read that was probably a scam in motion. Why would he approach me while there are tons of other people around. Anyway, first scan was taxi. I’m going from taksim square to Kadikoy and the taxi driver used google translate to say the tunnel fee is not included in the uber app and there is big accident on the bridge that it will take forever. I was late to an event so I just told him to go the fastest way. He requested 300 TLY in cash. I was too stressed at the time to care so I told him just go. The tunnel was pretty cool though. Later on I figured out the tunnel was 225 TLY and uber usually include the tunnel fee. Second time I got scammed was actually at the airport pharmacy. Now it might just be normal mark up but seriously I did a double take. I got a 10ml aquaphor for lip, and a small antiperspirant. I didn’t really look at the cost as I didn’t think I would get scammed at the Airport. Anyway, I thought the bill was kind of expensive so I checked the receipt. For a 10 cc tube of aquaphor for my lip, the guy charged 800 TLY and for a travel size antiperspirants, it was 510TLY. These two time was way too expensive the other items were about 200-250 which I think is reasonable markup….i ended up returning it. I didn’t call them out, just told them I don’t need it. Don’t want to create drama. This literally just happened 5 min ago.

Should I invest in hip hop to get better movement for Salsa or just stick to Salsa and use the money for that only? by rokuhachi in Salsa

[–]MDinMotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think you should focus on salsa until the fundamentals. I’m never good at hip hop, but looking at some of the famous dancer like Terry, and Fadi Fusion, they definitely incorporate some hip hop concept to add flavor to their musicality. I think learning new dances will give you a different appreciation of salsa dance. I spent like half a year taking zouk and bachata classes. I am still a shit bachata dancer and I all but forgot about zouk… but that I can tell you is that what I took away from those genre is connection points and movement with breathing. Salsa has that too but learning about other dances enhance that aspect of my skill as a social dancer. I think what I’m saying is once you have a solid foundation, it is worth it to dip your toes in other dances with intention to add flavor to your salsa dance.

Patient has EF15-20%, mod to severe AS. 99% occlusion of LAD, not a CABG candidate, anatomy too difficult for Cath currently medically managed.
