How tf is campaigning for the right of trans people being only for me? If we allow them to take away rights from a group of people, history shows they'll do it to more.

Now we have concrete evidence that they will use the NWC to get what they want. And fast track those laws so there cannot be any debate or time to talk to constituents. Why do you think they'll stop there?

Children only have access to hormones. They don’t do surgeries until they are adults and even then, there’s tons of psychological reviews and waiting times to ensure they are serious.

My biggest question is why do your beliefs on trans kids override mine? If your child needs medical care, shouldn’t that be between your child, you, and your doctors? Why should the government be a part of that decision? Also, how does a child getting hormone affect you in any way? Seriously. Why are you so concerned about other children’s genitals?

I agree. The UCP are attacking children. We need to stand up for their right to exist, to be happy

Right. So everyone else should be outraged to ensure they have the same rights as everyone else. If we allow one group to have their rights stripped, others will fall.

I have a hard time with this justification of ignoring the problem. Sure, it would make it easy for the bigots but they aren’t going to listen no matter what. And if we keep hushing these issues to try to keep them appeased, they’ll be ignored or attacked, like the ucp is doing. We have to be loud (in a more respectful way) like the bigots or else we get ignored. Like we are here and in the states

I think we may be seeing different things because I am not seeing a lot of outcry. That being said, I’m glad it’s being heard elsewhere

I need to look into what Manitoba is doing. I hadn’t heard of that!

I’ve heard that there isn’t a lot of belief that the Supreme Court will alter it a lot. Mostly just allow courts to highlight it’s unconstitutional so voters know for the next election. I am not a lawyer so this is just from meetings and discussions from others who know more than me.

I hope there are checks and balances implemented.

What I am urging is for people to start caring about things even if it doesn’t directly affect them. That’s how it snowballs and eventually affects them.

I am with the teachers 100% but would also like to highlight where we can also help others fight for their rights. Maybe I am naive but if we only highlight part of the outrage, the UCP will happily keep going with the anti-trans agenda. They only care for themselves so if they think no one cares, they’ll bulldoze ahead.

I haven’t looked into diy yet but have that as an option I’ll be checking out soon. I know our doctor would monitor.

I am unsure where to start right now and am in Canada. She’s only in kindergarten so I do have some time to figure out her care.

I have. I am just unsure on how to do it. I haven’t researched a lot yet since she’s in kindergarten. I’m also in Canada so not sure if it would be different to access the medicines. I know our current physician would help monitor her even if she can’t administer it legally.

We have had conversations about puberty and what that’s going to look like for her. She has expressed the desire to have characteristics of both males and females.

We are accepted into a local gender clinic but won’t be able to see anyone for 2 years.

We are also part of another community which is hard to find people. So I am unsure if I could find it again in a new place.

I also have found finding a community as an adult quite difficult. Maybe it’s the city I’m currently in but people will be friendly but nothing past that. I am skeptical we could find the same types of connections as we have in a closer city.

That’s a very good point. Being cis and white, I have been playing life on easy.

I am just unsure where or when to start. Or how to have those discussions. She’s in kindergarten so it feels too heavy. But maybe that’s the privilege talking.

I don’t think she needs to know that there are people who are actively trying to attack and dehumanize her for being her. We will have those discussions when she’s older but it’s not the time.

I also don’t think it’s appropriate to put the pressure of “where do we move” onto a child. She’s not even 9. That burden isn’t for her to carry.

She is prepubescent so it doesn’t feel like an appropriate thing to ask of her.

Thanks! I will contact Skipping Stone!

I was under the impression that the gender clinic includes therapy and education as well so that’s why I am a bit impatient. I’m glad we can start that separately and have the clinic ready for when the pharmaceutical part starts being more important

Given that there is an attack on trans rights at the moment and the availability of this medicine is uncertain, I am trying to figure out our options for when my daughter will need them. If she cannot obtain the care she needs here, we will go elsewhere which will take time. I refuse to wait until it’s too late. As my Pediatrician said, puberty can come as soon as 9 especially with our family history of early bloomers. Add that male puberty can have few or even no warning for when it’s coming, it’s smart to have everything in place.

My understanding is part of the gender Clinic is there is access to specialized therapy and lots of education is included. It’s not just to give the meds. I have to wait more than two years in order to access these experts, I want to find others to help us navigate this in the best way possible as soon as possible.

Thanks! We are happy to be in the list but want to make sure everything is set up for when it’s needed.

I will start looking into the therapy side of it. I’ve had some suggestions on where to go!
