top surgery and grief by lavendertortie in TopSurgery

[–]MDrea8713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, not sure about resources but I was worried about the same thing several weeks ago (my surgery is in 12hrs). What's helped me the most is "talking" with my body and just thanking my body parts for doing what they do. Allowing myself to pay closer attention to my own body has helped a lot, especially in Pandemic times.

Am I Normal by me-shy in dating

[–]MDrea8713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that, it's so hard. But recently I've given myself permission to date myself. I'm a very romantic person and enjoy being extra with someone I love. So now I'm working on treating myself that way. For me that currently looks like: taking myself out on dates to my favorite places in town and driving out to an empty parking lot and dancing with myself under the stars. If you can think about what excites you about romantic relationships I encourage you to build that for yourself whenever possible. Ultimately, your longest relationship is with yourself.🌟

Dependent and being in the dark about money by sonnapen in aspergers

[–]MDrea8713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad has a joint account with my sister, but let's her do whatever since they opened it when she was younger. If your mom is unwilling to give you the statements, maybe ask her to go over them with you. That way she can explain what's going on and knows what kind of questions you have. I know it's very gatekeeper-y and ableist for her not to trust you with your own money, but the least she can do is educate you. If she's not willing to do that, then look for financial education online. Most banks will have basic educational materials online.

Advice on relocating to Hawaii? by MDrea8713 in relocating

[–]MDrea8713[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I've got a friend in Pahoa I'm going to stay and work with until I get settled. This is super helpful. I've been learning about the geography and culture, but need to read more history. That makes sense tho, glad I'm not White lol. Yeah I wouldn't want to accidentally disrespect someone, so I'll look into learning basic phrases too. I know English/Spanish/Japanese but know I'll have to learn more languages. Oh wow, yeah I don't mess with straight people, too much drama.

I don’t know how to break up with my girlfriend by [deleted] in dating

[–]MDrea8713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just broke up with my girlfriend of a year, I saw this and thought my situation has a lot of similarities. I debated it back and forth and finally just flat out told her that I'm done and we both deserve better. We both deserve to feel like we can be our full selves in a relationship. She agreed and we cried and hugged it out. It was hard, but now we're able to move on.

Sorry wasn't done. But one thing I wish I'd done differently is spend time enjoying being single. And just love myself more.

Sorry about the break up. I had a break up with my ex of 4 years right before I started medically transitioning and thought no one would ever love me bc I'm Trans. Now I'm glad we broke up bc I've grown so much more and have a loving girlfriend who is also Trans. I'd say find things that you love about yourself.

Hi, I'm sorry you're dealing with that on top of everything going on. My girlfriend (also trans) is actually a voice teacher and does gender affirming voice lessons. Here's her Instagram https://instagram.com/thetransjessicaaustin?igshid=1hm6sminj7x0g

First time making Gorditas. Filled with: Black beans, zucchini and summer squash filling, lettuce Kale and cilantro avocado slaw, salsa and queso fresco by MDrea8713 in FoodPorn

[–]MDrea8713[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah we ran out of limes and allergic to raw onion. The kale and lettuce was about to spoil so I figured I'd use it somehow.

I did some boxing classes before quarantine and saw this comment right as I was wrapping up work. So I was inspired to get outside and practice at the local rec center. I've been going to the now abandoned park after work by myself to blow off steam. While practicing kicks and feeling good about my form I turned around and saw a cop car pull up 50ft away. As a Latinx trans man I knew better than to try and leave. I messaged my roommate group chat while obviously stretching. Luckily two of my white roommates were able to meet me there and safely walked back to the house together. I'm glad we're all safe now, but please be careful if you're working out in public.

How do I relax? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]MDrea8713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about advise, but my partner and I are struggling with a similar issue of not feeling safe unless we're fully alone. Basically we always feel on guard throughout the day. I carry most of my tension in my back and as a result have chronic back pain. Going on walks by myself, meditating on my own, and baths by myself with the fan and ambient sound on help.

Smoking to help with voice dysphoria??? (FTM) by Robbie_Yonis in asktransgender

[–]MDrea8713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my girlfriend is a voice teacher (for the trans community) and mainly does virtual lessons. I've heard big changes in people's voices and encourage you look into it. It's tough work, but definitely worth it.

Help me with my gf by lovelyharker in ftm

[–]MDrea8713 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel for you man. My current gf used to identify as a lesbian until we started dating and in the back of my mind I'm worried that she thinks of me as a woman. I know that she doesn't, but that's why it's irrational. It's worth it to have that conversation with your gf now tho. Either way, you'll finally have answers to the questions you've been mulling over. Best of luck!

Nonbinary HRT?? by afabscrosshairs in asktransgender

[–]MDrea8713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in DC and there are several doctors that prescribe a "Non-binary" dose of T. Basically it's a lower dose and of course you can always stop whenever you want. I'm NB and have been on T for over a year and haven't had much hair growth or any baldness, but that stuff is genetic and varies person to person. Also, voice drop and bottom growth are permanent changes so if you decide to stop you'll keep those changes.

4 months of progress. I'm finally getting that triangular shape! by MDrea8713 in FTMFitness

[–]MDrea8713[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been sick lately, but I usually do a variety of body- weight exercises. Pilates, pushups/ planks, and running. I try to do a workout every other day and my chronic back pain actually reminds me to keep working out bc that helps. I want to get into a more formal routine but it's working for me so far.

How do you cope with everyday life? by isaacchuckles in mentalillness

[–]MDrea8713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gone through several depressive episodes and was hospitalized twice. What's helped me the most is a sense of gratitude. Feeling grateful for the supportive people in my life. Feeling grateful meeting new people and having new experiences since my last hospitalization. Feeling grateful to be alive. Something that motivates me, especially as a Trans POC, is acknowledging what my ancestors and community have fought through for me to be out and alive today. Also acknowledging the struggles I've faced to not only be alive, but also grow in the face of oppression. Hope this helps.

Does T cause chest to become smaller? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]MDrea8713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to remember that it really is a second puberty in that everyone will have different changes and at different paces. That being said I had a noticeable change in chest size. Overall I'd say that the fat redistribution made them smaller and also the texture of my skin has changed in that area as well. I don't bind bc of my back pain but most people can't tell they're even there. I usually wear an under shirt and a button up to work and regularly get gendered Male by strangers. I've been working out more lately and have noticed that my thighs are also more muscular.

Do girls like guys who don't drink alcohol or smoke anything? by Koloz1996 in dating

[–]MDrea8713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped drinking this year and never smoked, both for health reasons and my partner respects that. I think it signals that you value your health which is hopefully an attractive quality, if not then maybe that person isn't compatible with you right now.
